Describe what you mean by regulation.
More or less like alcohol, tobacco or cannabis in legal states. Production is regulated and taxed like any other industry. Adults get to use what they like so long as they are not doing so in a manner that violates other rights in which case legal intervention is justified.

So methamphetamine and fentanyl becomes like beer and cigarettes. That's is exactly what I said the goal is.

Whose goal? If you do know someone who would like ice or fentanyl to be as easy to access and have the same restrictions as beer (and you actually don't) then tell him from me that he's an idiot and shouldn't be making such monstrously ridiculous suggestions. I mean, you do know it's ridiculous. So I don't know why you'd repeat it as if it could actually be a goal that any reasonable person could take seriously.

Why don't we crank back the hyperbole and treat this like a sensible discussion so we can see if we can work something out.

You said get rid of laws and I didn’t suggest that.

Regardless of semantics, that's the goal.

You're arguing more over what words I use, rather than what I'm saying the desired outcome is. And that outcome is more probable with democrats than republicans. So I think that's a major reason why democrats get votes.

Yeah, I guess we better stick with the current path of continuing to be the laughing stock of the world.
For the "world", the current path is less laughable than the path with great deals with North Korea (remember the small talk Trump/Kim ?) and Russia (remember the withdrawal from Syria?). But sometimes we stopped laughing because of the dangerous steps on this path (cancelling the Iran contract, or an US president showing more trust to Putin than to his intelligence service).

The outside world does'nt understand why less than 99% of voters did not consider Biden the lesser evil - or why both parties ended up with almost the least qualified candidate.

The difference between getting rid of laws entirely or regulating all drug use similar to how alcohol isn’t a matter of semantics. They would be two entirely different situations.

And that outcome is more probable with democrats than republicans.
It really isn’t and drug policy hasn’t factored into my voting for a number of election cycles now.

It would go from being illegal to legal. You can call that regulated or decriminalized or macaroni, but the outcome is the same.

You're one voter.

Only if we pretend that those words all mean the same thing which they do not.

I’m the one voter who actually does want drugs legalized and I’m pointing out that I haven’t been voting against republicans on that basis. The libertarian position is the one I subscribe to on drug policy but that ship sank.

You said yourself that illegal narcotics should be like alcohol and tobacco.
Yes I did, that does not change the meaning of the words decriminalize and legalize.

Yes, kind of like sinking in quicksand and refusing to grab a rope thrown by someone you don't like.
More like being thrown an aggressive poisonous snake by a would be rescuer who are themselves covered in snake bite and, frothing at the mouth in pain.

Yeah, that's pretty rough, probably best to go ahead and sink.

Okay the desire is to decimalize methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroine etc so they're more or less on the same level as alcohol and tobacco.

Decriminalize: stop treating (something) as illegal or as a criminal offense.

Legalize: make (something that was previously illegal) permissible by law.

No. Decriminalizing does not mean you can sell. It is not on the same level as legal and regulated.

If methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl were regulated then the problems of purity and overdosing would be greatly reduced. Criminality associated with the buying and selling of it would also be tremendously reduced.

When alcohol was illegal, people were poisoned by the impurities bootleggers put into it. The increasing regulations on tobacco have contributed to the reduced usage.

Obviously the illegal supply chain. That's a pretty desperate attempt to not have to say 'ah yes, I see what you meant'.
Maybe you should have just said what you meant.

Trump getting along with NK's Kim didn't have NK firing off ballistic missiles every day. Trump being willing to speak with leaders in Russia didn't result in Putin's invasion another country. It took biden in office to allow those things to happen.

But remember, it's the other side that determines what words mean.
