Just don't tell me there's never any justification for the killing of innocents and expect me to accept it.

There's always justification if you believe in God -- men have been killing innocents ever since they invented a God to forgive them for it.

How much more information? Exactly that information you didn't give

That is why the obvious answer to AV's question must be "it depends on..."

It is both naive and silly to believe one can simplify things in the way AV does and then suggest or pretend a general conclusion can be drawn from it.

Please justify this:
Five children are among seven people found dead with gunshot wounds in the Mexican state of Guerrero.

The bodies were found in a field in the town of Coyuca de Benitez, which is close to the resort of Acapulco on Mexico's Pacific coast, according to local police chief Honorio Salinas.

Some of the victims had been shot in the head.

Guns killing children: An American epidemic

Kids are shooting kids. Daily News study reveals shocking numbers as the gun rights battle rages on: 40 children accidentally shot by themselves or other kids since Newtown. Add in adult culprits, and there have been at least 120 kids shot dead in all.

This is a result of man's sin. This is why we needed a savior, why Jesus died on the cross to take the penalty for your sins and mine.

You obviously recognize the problem of sin, you just seem to attribute it to God rather than recognizing your own sin nature. Let me ak you, who taught you how to lie? The answer is no one.

I would have thought God should be more worried about his own sins, as they outstrip everyone else's in the Bible by miles.

When you come face to face with God at the great white throne judgement, what accounting will you give to Him for how you lived your life. Can you say that you have lived up to the standard of even your own conscience, much less God's standard of a sinless life? Thank God that Jesus made it possible for you to receive a full pardon.

At what point does this become relevant if we don't believe in God? I am pretty sure he, if your deity exists, doesn't need you to employ some petty, ineffective scare tactic to score believers.

How lovely isn't to be able to simplify things like this and then have an answer to everything in our confusing world... So why don't you go solve all the problems of the world, make peace and remove starvation, now when you have the answers...

End of irony....

My friend, in all good manner, I strongly suggest you give some more, deeper and considered, thoughts behind what you write before jumping to conclusion based on scriptures... Perhaps read some history and see what organized Christianity actually leads to. Ever heard about the mid ages Crusades or the Inquisition for instance? Believing in Jesus in an organized fashion with power to influence our society has a well documented and proven history record of not being able to solve the problems of violence in our society. There are very few religious belief system I can refer to that actually does not encourage violence and violation of basic human rights...

I am not saying every individual does this, but it is inherent in the ideology to create a growing ground for violence and violation of human rights with people which has corrupted/confused moral values (read: fundamentalists) and which potentially can, and are willing to, open up Pandora's Box.

That said the referred news item had most likely noting to do with religion, even thou it may be a factor to consider, but rather politics...

You obviously recognize the problem of sin, you just seem to attribute it to God rather than recognizing your own
sin nature.

No I don't. Wherever did I put a judgment on these incidents and where did I blame God for it? Answer: I did none of those things, therefore your claims is bluntly false.

Let me ak you, who taught you how to lie? The answer is no one.

So now you accuse me for being a liar.... Why should I take this accusation from you lightly ?

Let me ask you: who taught you to ask moronic question like this?

So we turned to threatening people now? Believe as I do - or else!

Well, if you believe in God due to fear, that is up to you. But please, don't go around and scare children with the same story... But you may tell them they should be nice otherwise Santa wont give them any x-mass presents, because that wont make them live in fear as adults...

But if you do decide to try to scare the crap out of small children with your "loving" God then you may also tell the children that Quantum Field Theory tells use there are no afterlife and therefore also inform the children that they do not have to worry to much about your hypothetical threats of a judgment after death and you better tell tell them, for the sake of the children's own mental health, that you just try to scare them because you have really no other, or better, argument to convince them that God actually do exists.

But you know trying to use such argument with grown up and mature adults that is pretty naive of you....

One can also put it in this way; if there exists a deity that is truly is a Loving God then nobody has anything to fear from that deity....

You have neither the morality nor the intellect to question God's actions. Before you write that off as a flame, nobody does. You have to have the mind of God to understand the actions of God. However, let's talk about YOUR morality.
If you have ever taken anything that wasn't yours? Then you are an unforgiven thief.
If you have ever told an untruth? Then you are an unforgiven liar.
If you have ever killed any living thing without cause? Then you are an unforgiven murderer.
If you have ever insulted the deity? Then you are an unforgiven blasphemer.
If you have ever had sex outside of marriage? Then you are an unforgiven adulterer.
If you have ever defiled your body with too much alcohol? Then you are an unforgiven drunk.
If you have ever loved anything more than God? Then you are an unforgiven idolater.
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your savior, then every sin you have ever committed still blackens your soul and makes you unfit to stand before the throne of God. If you died today in that state; your soul putrified by unforgiven sins; God would not condemn you. You would be condemned by the burdon of your own sins and your own actions. The sins of man bring the penalty of death, not any preceived evil on the part of God.

Please study Job's Book.... there the God of the old testimony reveals yet another of his utterly childish behavior; in a silly argument with Satan God allows Job to suffer greatly just so God can score some point with Satan in a childish argument they had about Jobs faith in God...

The deity of the old testimony torture and kill and make people suffer at his own whimsy wish and wills as he pleases for no apparent sensible and rational reasons at all... Human are mere faceless bricks and tools for the deity of the old testimony and used by the deity to play with in his own cosmic game...

Then Jesus came.... what to think about Jesus... ?

It seams like God finally grew up and became mature in the new testimony and realized how childish he had acted in the old testimony. It appears as God then tried to set it all right again with human with the help of Jesus. It seams to be the case that Jesus is Gods way to say he is truly sorry for all the bad and evil things he had done in the past to the human race and is asking us for forgiveness for his childlike behavior in the old testimony. Call it divine styling if you like...

What are your evidence to support these asserted truths? Let me guess; you made it up by scripture... and then you speak in the name of God as you was Gods own spokesman... Let me remind you that in your own belief in scripture you are now walking on very dangerous ground by judging other people and telling them what Gods will and plans are for other humans... maybe time to repent and ask Jesus for forgiveness in doing what you now are doing... else I see you in Hell.

So you do not know if God is actually good or not? The whole thing is might makes right and you are incapable of judging his actions?

I'll ask you the same question I asked earlier in the thread. How about murdering babies? Is that good? Because your god is rather keen on it.

What are the odds of flipping a coin and it coming up with heads 300 times in a row?

No doubt you are referring to the vague, post dated, and useless "predictions" in the bible. You must be easily impressed when someone says "and so it came to pass".

If you say so...

Before you write that off as a flame, nobody does.

Of course it is not a flame; anyone can phantom, just like you did, an imaginary super-duper intelligent being and claim it to be smarter and better than anyone else. There is no flaming in fabulating things... More interestingly though; do you have any objective evidence that this super-duper intelligent and moral superior deity ever have or has existed?

P.S. Try avoid refer to the old testimony in the Bible as you will fail on multiple points then... D.S.

You have to have the mind of God to understand the actions of God.

Aha, so now we claim to understand the mind of God... an interesting case of hubris on your part...

However, let's talk about YOUR morality.

Sure, I am happy to....

If you have ever taken anything that wasn't yours?

Yep. All the time... At work I take pens and use them as well note blocks, they are not mine ...
I also take toilette paper at work which is not mine and which I use...

Then you are an unforgiven thief.

Darn...

If you have ever told an untruth?

Yep. I had this friend with terminal cancer and he was on chemotherapy. He asked me what I thought his chances was of survival. I Lied to him... a half year later he was dead; just as I knew he would be...

Then you are an unforgiven liar.

Darn...

If you have ever killed any living thing without cause?

Yep. Walking on insects all day long....

Then you are an unforgiven murderer.

Darn...

If you have ever insulted the deity?

Yep. Cannot avoid to not do it in some way in someones opinion....

Then you are an unforgiven blasphemer

Darn...

If you have ever had sex outside of marriage?

Yep. Not even married....

Then you are an unforgiven adulterer.

Darn...

If you have ever defiled your body with too much alcohol?

Yep. Had this wound once I drowned in alcohol...

Then you are an unforgiven drunk.

Darn...

If you have ever loved anything more than God?

Yep. I call that 'thing' human beings....

Then you are an unforgiven idolater.

Darn...

You manage to judge me pretty heavy there... I guess I am completely screwed now...

Btw; don't do this with kids, it is not god for their emotional development process to be scared by invisible evil monster.... I can handle it, though...

Nice try, but I am not the one that claims God is Love.....
What does love have to do with it?

If your wife was on American Airlines Flight 11, would you have shot it down?
