As shown by what evidence? Please provide evidence for the existence of the Holy Spirit.

Your only answer seems to be that you must believe in order to believe.

Atheism doesn't deny any revealed truths, only dogmatic beliefs supported by no evidence and no reason.

Prove the error of the following verse:

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. (1 Corinthians 12:3 KJV)

Here is your proof of the existence of the Holy Spirit in you.

Can you claim without hesitation that Jesus is The Lord?

Only you will know wether that is true if you would choose to lie.

How so, I listen to the reports of Genome Studies, I myself am not there to clarify all is done accurately.

History provides lists of errors done in the name of science. Does that mean science is always wrong? No

If the Bible always proves itself to be free from error, provided its not interpreted in error; how much more believable is it to the error stricken History of Science.

Whoops! Blunders and Mistakes of Science and Engineering.

Forensic science errors are cited; strict rules urged

Errors in SCIENCE "Pseudoscience" article

List of experimental errors and frauds in physics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't have to mention the errors of other religious beliefs to prove also that the Bible is the Word of God.
The bible is full of errors. As a Christian, you should know this. Why are you acting as if there aren't any contradictions, errors, blatant untruths, geological errors, geographical errors, sociopolitcal errors, historical errors? Stop it, you're making other well informed, educated Christians look bad.

Dear Hitch, Those who see contradictions and errors in the Bible are revealing that their interpretation is WRONG. Scripture tells us that Atheists see God's Holy Word as "foolishness." Does that agree iwth your point of view?

In Love,
Aman

The bible makes many unsubstantiated claims. You do realize that everything that gets written down isn't necessarily true?

Like your words are clearly unsubstantiated and untrue with regards to the bible. You have no evidence for your assertions as you have no reason to study why it is you do not believe. Your unbelief is based on assertions that are also written on paper yet not proven by yourself.

You do realize that as long as I strive to see the facts for what they are and let them inform my opinion of reality, I don't care what intellectually deficient people may or may not think of me.
So people who have learned something that you have not; who have experienced something that you deny; who have found a personal relationship with a God in whom you do not believe; and who have discovered the answers to questions you will never learn are intellectually deficient?

People who don't believe in molecules to man are somehow intellectually inferior to those who worship at the altar of Darwinism?

You, sir, are a living testimony to Psalms 14:1. Blessed is the Lord who in His wisdom has given us the tools to recognize the unteachable.

So, if we have both made unsubstantiated claims, shouldn't the default position be one of unbelief?

Prove the error of the following verse:

Prove the truth of the verse. It is not my job to refute unsupported claims. Why do some theists have such a hard time understanding what a burden of proof is?

Here is your proof of the existence of the Holy Spirit in you.

Can you claim without hesitation that Jesus is The Lord?

Only you will know wether that is true if you would choose to lie.

Do you know what evidence is? Is such a simple concept as evidence beyond you?

The burden of proof lies with you to support the claims made in scripture.

History provides lists of errors done in the name of science. Does that mean science is always wrong? No

Not to mention that we find those errors by applying the scientific method. This is different than the religious method where a belief is never accepted as wrong no matter what the evidence is.

If the Bible always proves itself to be free from error, provided its not interpreted in error;

A 6,000 year old Earth is contradicted by almost every field of science, as is a recent global flood. We could start there.

how much more believable is it to the error stricken History of Science.

How did you determine that science was wrong?

I don't have to mention the errors of other religious beliefs to prove also that the Bible is the Word of God.

Why don't you actually present evidence that the Bible is the inspired work of a supernatural deity?

Tool, the bible must stand on its own like any other ancient book must to be declared credible. It should be viewed objectively and hold up to historical method like any other book that makes claims must.

It happens to be a fact, that the vast majority of biblical scholars and historians are christians (many of those conservative, because they work for religious institutions). On the surface, this isn't the best way to get objectivity, but even in this tilted environment, only a minority of legit historians claim the bible is historically reliable.

What kind of person worships a God they don't believe in?
What kind of person identifies with a deity they don't believe is truthful?
How does a person deny the Great Flood and yet proclaim to be a follower of Jesus, who spoke of the Great Flood?
How does a person call the Bible an unreliable, man made document and yet base his eternal salvation on the veracity of its claims?

How does a person serve God and naturalism?

I hate to break it to you, but a high percentage of folks who claim they are christian, believe the following; evolution is true, noah story is a myth, miracles likely never happened and the bible is loaded with contradictions, errors and is not historically reliable.

You can always then claim that these people are not really christian and I have no problem with that, because the definition of what a christian is has morphed into many forms for a number of years (mostly from scrambling to acknowledge scientific findings that can no longer be ignored).

If that is the case, the number of "true" christians in the world (and especially the United States) is much lower than the latest polls show (60-70%).

Again, you are confusing God with the Bible. One can still worship God even if the Bible is fallible.

What kind of person identifies with a deity they don't believe is truthful?

I have been asking creationists this for years.

How does a person deny the Great Flood and yet proclaim to be a follower of Jesus, who spoke of the Great Flood?

The Jesus of the bible also spoke of a Prodigal Son, but no one expects the Prodigal Son to be a real person.

How does a person call the Bible an unreliable, man made document and yet base his eternal salvation on the veracity of its claims?

How is a person's salvation dependent on the age of the Earth?

How does a person serve God and naturalism?

Why don't you read this essay, it might help (it is written by a christian, btw).

A person who knows that God is not the Bible.

How does a person deny the Great Flood and yet proclaim to be a follower of Jesus, who spoke of the Great Flood?

By figuring that Jesus wanted them to see the bigger picture -- just as he said they should.

And just as he predicted some wouldn't.

Matthew 13:10-13

And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Is it possible that you're not getting it because God didn't plan for you to? Just sayin'

How does a person call the Bible an unreliable, man made document and yet base his eternal salvation on the veracity of its claims?

Maybe the only claim that matters is the one that comes from God personally?

How does a person serve God and naturalism?

Seems easy enough to me.

Please cite for me the relevant passages which describe God using evolution. Further, please explain why God Himself misrepresented Himself in Exodus 20:11.

Read your Bible. Then explain to me why Jesus, who was there, seemed to believe in the Scriptures as written.

Which is why I don't believe in the deceptions of atheist or those who dillute their faith with the lies of evolution.

Please re-read Exodus 20:11 and then give thanks and praise to God who created the heavens in the earth in six days.

Those who actually UNDERSTAND science understand its limitations.

Do you believe all scripture should be interpretated literally? I hope not, because in Exodus 19, God tells Moses that he took the people out of Egypt on the wings of Eagles.

Genesis 1 is a poem to remeber the Sabbath. The basic trusth is God created the cosmos and the earth, but nowhere does he say how.

Biblical Hebrew Poetry

You could also do well in reading Dr. Kenneth <iller's book 'Finding Darwin's God'.

I only occasionally dip into these threads, and they are so depressing. I think it is safe to assume no one's going to change their mind on subjects like this on the basis of an angry web forum exchange.

I just hope that everyone takes the time to educate themselves on the arguments and knows why they believe what they do. Christians who steep themselves in William Lane Craig's Reasonable Faith, Straight Thinking from Reasons to Believe, Scott Hahn etc. should be more than comfortable in talking about questions of science.

William Lane Craig is indeed the most prominent christian apologist who accepts established scientific findings. In fact he states; that it is silly to claim evolution is not true (and I paraphrase).

Craig is a highly skilled debater and he does an excellent job at setting ground rules that he demands in advance (more power to him), but he is also the king of "circular reasoning" as I have watched many of his debates and he comes into them with a presumption that his God exists and deftly avoids the need to produce objective evidence.
