  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Should I venerate Catholic images?

I see images of Jesus and Mary around here a lot and I feel I should pay respect but I don't know if I should since they were made by Roman Catholics, also I am still confused of the role of statues in Orthodoxy.

Question for Catholics from an ex-Protestant in search of a denomination

I was raised Nazarene but I think I'm completely convinced at this point that I can't be Protestant. Now I just have to figure whether I should be Catholic or Eastern Orthodox. I really struggle, as many do, with the current corruption of the Church & the Papacy. I understand that it was the...

The Forefathers of the Salvation by Works Christians

The Forefathers of the Salvation by Works Christians The most serious deviation from a scriptural view of salvation is found in those who make salvation contingent upon one's performance. While today this soteriology can be found in various sects of Christianity, I believe it's origin to be...

Traditional Christian weddings and their hymns

I dunno why this is a thing I'm into lately (I'm not getting married or going to a wedding soon or anything like that), but I have stumbled upon some very nice wedding hymns/songs from the OO churches (probably because that's a lot of what comes up when you search for things from the Malankara...

Questions for Understanding Baptist and Catholic Practice

Hi everyone, Since I became a practicing Christian five years ago, I have been a member of a Baptist church. However, as I've read Scripture, prayed, listened to prominent pastors, and discussed with Christian friends, I've found more compelling evidence, conviction, alignment with my beliefs...

The difference between Catholics and Protestants according to CS Lewis

"The truth is not that allegory is Catholic, but that Catholicism is allegorical. Allegory consists in giving an imagined body to the immaterial ; but if, in each case, Catholicism claims already to have given it a material body, then the allegorist’s symbol will naturally resemble that material...

Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, Knox, Wishart ... - Catholicism, time for another C.P.Reformation

Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, Knox, Wishart., etc. ... looks like they were on to something - Catholicism (this one's for you), it looks like it is time for another C.P.R., a Common Peoples Reformation. A Catholic Priest Reformation. A Christian Practical Revival. Do you think 'praying' all day is...

    Question about plenary indulgence

Hi folks. As many of you know I am not Catholic in beliefs. I have been following and enjoy on video (Fr) Cedric Pisegna who is a Passionist. Upon checking on the retreats his ministry offers, I found this: Your Crucifix will not only serve as a ‘souvenir’ of the retreat but according to an...

    Sola Fide Question

Howdy! Even tho I know that Lutherans believe in Faith Alone and Catholics believe in Faith + Works, how come they sound similar when there is a discussion about those two? For example, Lutherans don't believe in Antinominalism so if they don't do works then they don't have faith. On the other...

    Conversing with Catholics

I was talking to a Roman Catholic the other day and I felt myself getting annoyed because this person was telling me things about Revelations that are wrong. For example, saying that the book of Revelations is what the Catholic mass is based on? What? I left behind the Catholic faith. I...

    "Lutheran Confessions: Anti-Catholicism Formalized"

Having grown up attending a Lutheran church (LCC), and having an interest in the "Ecumenical Movement", I found this article to be of significance to this topic: (from a Catholic source) "Lutheran Confessions: Anti-Catholicism Formalized" From the article (May 30, 2018): "All thoughtful...

Monergism VS Synergism VS Catholic Soteriology

I tend to loathe aspects of everyone's theology/soteriology, and am going to posit my own. 1. God foreordained those in Himself, yet He is not the author of sin, because He decreed such things once the Fall went through, therefore dodging the 'is God the author of sin?' question. 2. I believe...

Questions about Catholics (From a Protestant)

    1. What do you think verifies the Catholic Church as the true Church of Christ? 2. What is your ultimate source of belief in such? 3. What is your position on the authority of Scripture? :) Honest questions. I'm curious.

    Just Discovered Something

Was interested in Roman Catholicism, but I was having some curiosity about something. Fr. Victor E. Novak. I've been sharing my journey into Catholicism with my mother and she always tells me to 'check the Scriptures please' as in that I have to verify everything I believe with scripture. How should I respond to that?

    Slowly Embracing Catholicism, Rough Patch

While, somewhere in my heart, I believe the Catholic Church to be the real church, in some way, I am battling something which I will probably battle for months or even years. There's so many uncharitable 'debates' between Protestants and Catholics over the intercession of the Saints, with the...

What Can I Do in a Catholic Church as a (soon to be ex) Protestant?

I was considering on Orthodoxy or Catholicism (slight Lutheran possibility as well, mind you), and I was wondering if I could pray beside the priest or something. What can I do as a newcomer?
