  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I need boy advice. (Interdenominational relationship, non-denom and Catholic)

I never thought anyone would fall in love with me. Much less did I ever dream there would be two of them. Also, I never expected myself to fall in love with anyone. Much less did I think it would be such a problem when I did... I know this is a stupid situation. But it's a situation...

    500 years of protesting what?

Since there is at least some focus this month on the reformation, the protestant reformation and how wide the GAP is between protestant doctrine and Catholicism - lets work out some of the details. While Luther may have "started" with 95 objections to selling indulgences.. that is not the sum...

Reason, Intellect, and Understanding in Orthodoxy and Western Christianity

Hello all, In this thread on the differences in the approach to the Eucharist in Catholicism and Orthodoxy, some of the posts from our Western Christian friends seem to show an understanding of Orthodoxy that supposes that Orthodoxy treats reason as something bad, or to be neglected, or to be...

A Question for Protestants & Evangelicals: Is the "Protest" Really Over?

This is a poll/thread for my fellow Protestant/Evangelicals. Some of you have no doubt seen this video or heard about it as it is a few years old, but I am still interested in hearing your thoughts on the matter. Here is the video to which I am referring: Ecumenism is by no means going away...

The medieval church prohibited human dissection. (Refuted).

Hi everyone! I just made a new video refuting the claim that the medieval church prohibited the practice of human dissection. If you could watch it and give some critique and your own thoughts on the subject I would appreciate it a loot. Note: If I don´t respond to your comments feel free to...

Is Catholicism the ONLY true faith?

Recently, someone told me that Catholicism is the only true faith, and that Protestants are heretics and may go to hell. When I told him I didn't pray to Mary and the Saints, he got quiet and claimed that Jesus' disciples and the first Christians were really Catholics. He claimed that anyone...

Why did Protestantism mostly fail to take hold in Ireland?

Today is the Glorious 12th of July, the anniversary of the battle of the Boyne, the Protestant version of St. Patrick's day. This is when Orange orders stage marches in honour of their Protestantism and their forebears. Why though is Ireland not Protestant today and Catholicism so closely...

    Is Purgatory real?

I will just get to the point: Is Purgatory real? Didn't Christ already pay for our sins (taking the punishment for us) when He died in the Cross? Aren't we covered in the blood of the lamb? This life on Earth is a waiting place for us; why go to another waiting place? Aren't we made clean...

Do you pray with icons? What are your thoughts?

While I was raised Lutheran, I was also confirmed/chrismated in the Greek Orthodox Church. I still continue to pray with icons. At our Episcopal church, we do have some icons and we occasionally place more during special services. What are your thoughts, as Anglicans, about the use of icons in...

Former evangelical's thoughts on the Rapture and Protestantism in general

I found the following comment on Facebook a few days ago. Your thoughts? TL;DR: The rapture is nonsense and protestantism is heretical.

On the size of denominations and communions

In another thread, I was enjoying a good but I expect offtopic conversation with my friends @ViaCrucis and @BobRyan about denominational size: Picking up where we left off, it might be interesting to both resume that discussion about the relative sizes of denominations and communions, and...

Why I am compelled to dispute Adventism

I do not hate Seventh Day Adventists. I furthermore do not uniquely object to their doctrines; there are several other denominations I am rather more aggrieved with. For example, many of the liberal mainline Protestant churches such as the UCC, the PCUSA, and so on, at times seem to exist only...

Can Catholics Have Communion in Non Catholic Churches?

Is it wrong for a Catholic to have communion at a non Catholic Church? I have family who are non Catholic and sometimes I come to visit them and have communion with them at their church.

    My Rosary Beads

I went on a pilgrimage to Lourdes in May and whilst I was there I bought this lovely rosary at one of the gift shops. I decided on this one as I really like how the beads are in the shape of a rose. What type of rosary do you guys and gals have? Also what would you say is the best time to say...

My story: First a Christian, then an atheist, now I understand again what God is.

Hello, I'm new to these forums but I want to tell my story. I am 18, and my high school graduation is coming up and I am going to Hofstra University on Long Island, NY for finance this autumn. I want to tell everyone the story of my beliefs throughout my adolesence. I was baptised and raised...
