  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Walk with Him

John 6:35, 47-51 ESV Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they...

    Why do you believe?

I am interested in the fundamental logic for a persons belief system. For example, if someone tells me they are a Christian, I might ask the question, "So why are you a Christian?". The person might respond, "Because I believe in Jesus". I might continue, "And why do you believe in Jesus?"...

Guys I don't think I believe in God anymore

I feel like Christianity is all about self hate since when ever I do normal activities like touch or anything I feel really guilty because God told me not to. And homosexuality is supposedly a "punishment for sinners" which is b.s. to me. The more I think about it the more it feels like...

Fear or Faith – Genesis 32:7,8,9,10,11

Fear or Faith – Genesis 32:7,8,9,10,11 In Genesis 32:7-11, we can see how fear of what may happen and fear of the circumstances, put the faith of Jacob in the promise of God on hold. God has promised Jacob, what he will do with him in the future, and how he will bless him in the future, and...

Something cosmic like what she says...but make it more "Jesusy"!

Hey Folks, I just thought I'd drop by--again--and hand off this nifty little video I found, one made by that science gal from The Big Bang Theory (yes, Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy Farrah Fowler). She has some interesting things to say which seem to reflect in a substantial way---and also in...

    In Sincerity

Be Holy Hebrews 12:14-17 NIV Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. See that no one is sexually immoral...

How Do We Know That The Bible Is The Complete and Inerrant Word of God?

With all of the different translations of the Bible and with all sorts of men having their hands in its "creation and distribution"...how do we know that what we have available to us today is the inerrant and complete word of God?

    The Definiton of Faith

Faith in the purest sense is the ceasing of resistance, even when there’s no physical evidence, when the other evidence is present – the other evidence is physical, proof. Not feeding ourselves on what God hasn’t done. Faith in it’s purest form is the absence of resistance. Faith doesn’t deny...

    Evangelise through Social Media

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I'm helping on a project called ThinkOneWeek. It is an internet evangelisation website that explains the Gospel in a simple way to non-believers. If you are looking for a simple way to share your belief with your Facebook-, Instagram- or Twitter friends...

Help Finding God (Hope this is in the right forum)

I have been trying to find God for years and have always struggled to believe. I feel that proof is needed to believe in something and I can't bring myself to simply believe as so many do. I have been trying for years to "find God". I attend both church and bible study on a weekly basis. I have...

On SCIENCE vs GOD: Enderle's Comical Chemistry for Belief. [3vids]

Of course, we'd all like God to just show up—but He more often than not, doesn't. We know this. We'd also like there to be ample evidence for God's presence in our world and universe—but more often than not, there isn't. And various skeptical types of scientists have, more often than not...

    Discovery

Hi all Wanted to share what happened to me yesterday, possibly as part of my attempt to make sense of it... First, a bit of background. I was brought up in a home where religion was more of something on the periphery - my mother believed, my father didn’t. We went to church for important...

    All conservatives?

I heard a conservative on a show mention all conservatives, "We believe in the idea that human beings were made in God's image, each and every one of us." Wondering what % of conservatives believe what % do believe what he said. Please, if you aren't a "conservative" (whatever that means to...

In Not Seeing, But Yet Believing, Jesus Calls Us Blessed

I was thinking of this particular verse today: "Jesus said to him, 'Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'" - John 20:29 I think this perfectly describes faith, which the Bible says is "the substance of things hoped for...

Pray that I can hear Gods words clearly and have faith in what he says.

A lot of things that have been happening recently, I have been praying for Gods answer on, and the answers I get don't seem to reflect the truth, I worry I'm projecting my thinking onto him or going a bit crazy. I prayed whether I would pass my finals coming up in June and he said I would, but...

    ELCA exposed? Confused...

Hey there, if this needs moved go ahead. I'm really unsure if I put this in the correct place. For a few months now, I have been going to an ELCA church. It is the Lutheran church nearest to me. I was made aware the ELCA is generally viewed as a more "liberal" Lutheran church. I don't mind...

"Nature and nurture" components of religious faith

First, a definition. "Religious" Faith is belief without evidence. Faith in higher powers is seen in over 70% of the world's population, so it is more than a 'religious' artefact. Something so widespread must be part of our nature, and I can show how faith stems from nurture as well. Here...

The model prayer of Jesus, the awesome faith of Jesus

This prayer of Jesus before He raised Lazarus from the dead should be our model prayer. The faith of Jesus is so profound, but we, like the disciples after the ascension, must grab hold of God's promises like Jesus did here. He thanked God for the thing He has not received yet. This is the faith...

    Rapture....

As it stands, I do not believe in the rapture but I am curious and always open to learn and so my question is, for those of you who do believe in the rapture, what brought you to that belief? And what biblical references back up that belief? Thanks!
