What are some good movies on mostly biblical end times?

(Just citing the Left Behind movie for reference)

Anyone seen any others? It does not need to fit with your eschatological view to merely be entertainment for me. I get my eschatology from Scripture and reference books and lots of hard work, not from hollywood productions even though they are on the topic.

Any others? My favorite is the Apocalypse at the top of the last post.

Strange that 3 of 4 of these came out right around the year 2000. I thought there were newer movies coming out this year. Anyone heard or seen one?

Looking for recommendations of movies beyond "Left Behind" that are at least somewhat Scriptural based.

None. even if you are pretribulational none of the movies have been biblically based. I've watched quite a few and found myself frankly laughing at a lot of them.
THE most agreed upon rapture passage (1 Thessalonians 4) has Jesus coming down from heaven, with a shout, a trumpet and the voice of an archangel, 3 very big noises... a very overt display.. and yet all your Christian Eschatalogical movies out there have people just poofing, no Jesus coming down, no sounds, and everyone is left guessing what happened to the people who disappeared.
Not biblical at all.
I had a thread on this forums about it
Where DO people get the "secret rapture" doctrine from?
Because I'd watched a bunch of them recently
Regardless of your rapture timing, you have to understand what the rapture is.. and that is a failing of a great many people who believe in the "pretribulation poof" as I like to call it.
It's not biblical, and I have yet to see an end times movie that was actually based on scripture. Maybe some documentaries but that's like, pastors just talking and those are at least discussing scripture. But nothing acted out.

Hi Jeff,

The Pilgrim`s Progress in animation is excellent with geat graphics and will keep you guessing & terrified too.

regards, Marilyn.

Bless you for sharing Marilyn! The one I have seen that is most Biblical is the Apocalypse made in 2000. Left Behind is also a good movie and maybe what I watch next. None are perfect reflections of Scripture, but they beat the majority of movies that Hollywood puts out, and certainly are Christian themed even if not perfectly theological. And I know almost all reflect a Futurist view, which is fine by me, since I'm a Futurist!

Again - notice the title. I said "MOSTLY" biblical. If I meant PURELY biblical, I would have used that term. But with all the different interpretations of end times, no film could possibly fit all our views, so its very understandable that Historicists, Preterists, and Idealists won't find ANY movie the least bit biblical, but that isn't what I was seeking to start with. I guess I should have been more clear with the Futurist in the title of the thread.

That film (and Left Behind, at least the older one, not the Nic Cage that was a remake of it later) is part of a series.... I found those ones particularly funny because of the piles of perfectly folded clothes left behind. I watched them on amazon prime a few months ago. They were pretty goofy though, it was hard to take them seriously.

Now that I think of it though and I'm not sure If I actually saw this film or if it was just a clip of a film, some rapture scene, people coming out of their houses to look at some light in the night sky. One of the characters said "It's Jesus", and then various characters started glowing white and then flew up into the sky and I was thinking "hey, at least this kind of fits scripture, it's not just a poof, there's Jesus in the sky, and they fly up into the air"

I can't think of the film name though I'll try to find it.

it's called Revelation Road. I haven't seen it. don't know much else about it... but at least Jesus was in the sky (and there was an earthquake)

I mean I get the whole "twinkling of the eye" part but... that's the transformation between mortal to immortal body. Not the rapture itself.

Matthew 24 has Angels coming to gather the elect.

I watch this a while back.

Awesome - exactly what I was looking for. We watched the Demi Moore movie last night "The Seventh Sign" and I guess I had watched it initially a long time ago not long after being saved, so it seemed a better movie then. Now I would not even list it as a hollywood apocalpytic movie worth watching, much less a Scripturally based movie. The best part of the movie was when Demi gave her life to save her baby at the end, but we all know the apocalypse won't stop over a mother's sacrifice for her own child.
