They have the earlier fireworks for the younger children, so they can actually watch it on tv or watch it from where they live or go see it, as a family, they dont have to stay up as late, like as in 12pm, some parents dont want their kids up so late.

Personally I think the fireworks display is waste of good atmosphere.. I mean, cmon... Whos breating this stuff? ALL of us! Who helps recycle all this crap we put into the atmosphere? The PLANTS! Who do we chop down by the millions of acres every year? THE PLANTS ! ! What produces most of the worlds oxygen? The Oceans! What do we poison and destroy and pump raw sewerage into every year? THE OCEANS!!

Mother Earth is gonna kick or asses if we dont do it ourselves first....

Some others have said there are greater wastes by our government, that is 100% true but having said that, just because other things are bigger wastes doesn't mean that the fireworks is less of a waste. They look absolutely amazing but once they are finished, the air is so thick with smoke it looks really polluted, I wonder how much damage they do to the air... anyway not to be a killjoy, I love fireworks but I reckon just to get bigger and better everytime is crazy.

And yes, I agree with the op, I used to think that about lots of things... where the underprivileged can be helped with that money... I don't know how much money it would take to help them but I know the millions spent on the fireworks would go some way.
