He does. God doesn't dwell on someone else's throne in someone else's temple.

On His throne, in His temple.

God's temple is where He rests, which as you've pointed out, is stated in several places. Namely

Isaiah 66:1-2 ESV
[1] Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest? [2] All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord.

That is, heaven and earth. It is creation, as verse 2 states.
But those verses in my view mean the opposite of what you say, especially taken in conjunction with the words of Stephen in Acts 7 which I quoted previously, and Solomon't words about the temple he built. You seem to say (please forgive me if I have misunderstood) that creation is the temple of God, whereas the verses have God asking that in view of the fact heaven is His throne, earth is His footstool, and He brought about Creation, how can mankind imagine that they could build a house for such an almighty God?

Here are the verses youve stated. How does this contrast with what I've said?

“"However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: ‘Heaven [is] My throne, And earth [is] My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the LORD, Or what [is] the place of My rest?” (Ac 7:48-49 NKJV)

Paul spoke similar words to the philosophers at the Areopagus in Athens:

“"God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.” (Ac 17:24 NKJV)

And what is heaven and earth but His creation? In light of verse 2 where He additionally notes that His hands has made them?

God makes His own temple.

Let's break this down.

Isaiah 66:1 ESV
[1] Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?

The house, is God's temple. What is the Temple that man could build for me? This is rhetorical, it's God saying that man can't do that? Why?

Because heaven already is His throne and Earth already is His footstool, and verse 2, all these things His hands have made. Not made by man.

The verse is rhetorical. It's not God actually asking Solomon to make a temple for Him.

It's like in the book of Job when God asks Job all these questions that he can't answer.

God is asking, what kind of house can you build for me? I've already built my temple and it's heaven and Earth.

Hi David
Thank you for your posts you said

Though I don't share your millennial views, I agree with you that the heavenly rest is something we as Christians can eagerly look forward to.

So how do you view the millennium where Have I said there will be a heavenly rest I don't believe we will go to heaven mankind was created to look after planet earth at the present time we are destroying it.

Hi folks
How easily it is to get diverted from the theme of the thread which is creation so lets get back to it.

Genesis 1:6-8 ESV
[6] And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” [7] And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. [8] And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

Here we see God separating heaven from earth was this to stop the angels from coming down an contaminating this creation as they did the last creation before the flood.
So only those who God permitted to do his work were allowed to come down from heaven to instruct those whom God has chosen such as moses so this is my thoughts on the second day of creation whats yours.

Love and Peace

Why are you changing up what these verses plainly state. The verses you use do not say God separated heaven from earth.

The verses plainly states that God separated waters from waters with the raqia translated to English as dome, expanse, firmament.

Hi D Taylor
Thank you for your post as I see it the waters above are the heavenly host and the waters below the sea of humanity God separated them so that the angels could not come down and cohabited with human women.

That is not what The Bible clearly states. You can add your own view of given revelations, but will always lead to error.

Dr David L. Cooper
When the plain sense of scripture makes common sense, seek no other sense; therefore, take every word at its primary, ordinary, usual, literal meaning. Unless the facts of the immediate context, studied in the light of related passages and axiomatic and fundamental truths indicate clearly otherwise.

That is my view
Just because i have a quote from another person who lived before my time. That states how i view The Bible does not discount how i approach the study of The Bible.

Here is a link to Dr Coopers written out studies Biblical Research Studies Group

Parables are just that, illustration's Jesus used to teach His disciples and prepare them for their up an coming ministry.

Hi D Taylor
Thank you for your reply are you saying you prefer the word of man over the word of God I have wasted no end of money on books and then realised they were saying different things so I put them all to one side picked up my bible and read it from cover and have never looked back and I read it every day and usually find something new the only thing men have created is 600+ denominations stick to Gods word.

Then if you prefer The Word of God. Why are you posting on a forum where humans give their thoughts on The Bible and asking questions. Why consult any human, you have The Word of God.

Also why have you come up with this un-Biblical creation/Noah's flood combination about God seperating the heaven from earth to keep angels from contaminating this creation as they did the last creation before the flood.

There is no creation before the flood, the creation that was restored in Genesis 1:3 to 31 was the creation at the time of the flood from Genesis 1:3 to 31. Which is the restored creation from Genesis 1:1 that was created for angels, but was judged when satan fell.

Hi Roman2819
Thank you for your reply what what Peter tells is a fact you are contradicting

2 Peter 3:8 ESV
[8] But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The thousand year days apply to the 7 days of creation its the only thing that makes logical sense

Love and Peace
Dave
Those verses show that time doesn't matter to God, an eternal Spirit. The thousand year day doesn't necessarily apply to creation, as the 6th day is an allegory for Good Friday, the most important 6th. The day when God, the son, was finished with all the works given to him to accomplish. Her then rested on the 7th day.

You seem to have changed your position since your post that sparked our discussion, in which you seemed to be viewing God in physical terms asking where and on what God rested on the seventh day. The verses I quoted state that God dwells in heaven, and that is where His resting place is.

I agree with all of that except the last two words, "and earth." None of those verses teach that God's temple is heaven and earth. As Solomon prayed:

“"hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, that all peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You, as [do] Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I have built is called by Your name.” (1Ki 8:43 NKJV)

"In heaven your dwelling place," not "In heaven and earth your dwelling place."

Hi Yarddog
But I don't think Christ will rest on the 7th day God the Father will rest but the 7th day is Christs millennial reign he will be finishing the creation as king of kings.
