My understanding is that the case actually didn't accuse any tax violations. The AG used the tax assessments as evidence he was falsifying records but didn't actually claim he didn't pay the taxes he needed to.

If you want a corporate loan, or to insure certain things, then there are certain legal reporting requirements that the corporation has to meet. Failure to do so constitutes fraud.

Failure to do so is fraud under New York law. It simply doesn't matter whether the lender conducted their due diligence or not.

New York appeals courts have already rejected multiple appeals, including those seeking to stay the judge's partial summary judgement.

Most recently (December 12th) a full five judge panel was unanimous in rejecting the appeal. The entire order is just three sentences. That's the legal equivalent of "lol, NO".

The only questions now are how much the fines will be and whether the Trump Organisation is allowed to retain a licence to do business in New York.

But...neither one of us has the specific knowledge of the NY legal code that Judge Engoron has. He's the one who will decide if that defense is enough to rule Trump not guilty of the charges of fraud.

Again, so what? banks and investors do their own due diligence. You have an asset YOU say is worth 1000. Do banks and investors just believe you? No. They assess it themselves.

A choice that offers Trump fans plausible deniability in regard to his malfeasance. A tool to enable further self-deception. And the pain is real for his misguided cult. It is a good thing. We heal and learn only if we can admit our errors. Some people can heal, some will choose unhappiness in their obstinance. I try avoid them. It's more difficult for them to deceive themselves without someone there defending truth. They don't have a scapegoat to blame for their misguided delusions. Only themselves.

Then it seems like you are having difficulty understanding the law and process (maybe also the situation). That is not a judge and AG problem.
