• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

It's been an off year. I had so much going on that I wasn't able to plant a spring garden. I have half of my summer garden planted and it's already popping (green beans and four kinds of squash-I know, that's a lot of squash lol). I bought some tomato slips and will plant those in the morning along with the rest of what I'll put in. Somehow I forgot a row of potatoes last year (I thought my sister harvested them at the end of the last season) so I have a row of volunteers! I can't complain about that. :)

The main reason things have been different is that my dad had been very sick over the winter and then died in April. That has been rough since we were very close. I have to make one more trip back to Texas at the beginning of June to bring his stuff back here. Hopefully, things will settle after that. It's strange how God can keep us at peace during the most difficult times, but it's true. I wouldn't trade our faith for anything. I have been a Christian now for a little over twenty years, but sometimes it seems as new and fresh as it did when I first began. God is good.

I’m sorry for your loss dear. Maybe you can honor him in the garden? It would be a wonderful reminder of your bond. A tree, shared favorite, something along those lines. You can name it too. :yellowheart:

I've been so exhausted lately. I have to get up at 5:30 AM for work tomorrow. Pray for me.

I'll tell you something cool. He was a retired Marine Corps Chaplain, and we're having his remains interred at Arlington National Cemetery with full honors, which is awesome.

I like the tree idea. I hadn't thought of that. That's a great idea. Thank you!

I get eyestrain bad. :(
Why am I seeing advertisements for The Book of Mormon? Anyone else? :/
I've been browsing the Debate Other Religions subforum (specifically the Mormon threads) the past few nights, but haven't been seeing any ads like that.

Do you mean like the play? Isn't that supposed to be like a comedy?
