You are missing out in my opinion! Nobody is trying to convert you away from the Sabbath.

I'm more interested in Jews that become Orthodox. I like those One for Israel videos, but they just seem like a Jewish version of non-denominational Protestantism. They seem to have some real animosity with the Roman Catholics (I mean, we do too to some extent). It brings a tear to my eye whenever I hear testimonies from Jews who accept the Messiah. It's just sad that right there in Jerusalem is the place where He was entombed, and right there in Bethlehem is the place where He was born, both parishes are Orthodox, and yet they still create their own denomination.

Maybe I'm just not seeing the vast numbers of Jews in the Holy land that are Orthodox, and that the Messianic Jews are the minority? Is that the case, do you think?

I also wonder if Messianic Jews worship on Saturday or Sunday? And I did not even know that there was such a thing as Messianic Gentiles. That threw me for a loop.

I simply follow the 4th commandment to remember the sabbath day and to keep it holy by observing it as a day of rest from labors and rememberance of God.

Honestly it seems to me that mainly what I’ve gotten here in this thread is told that I shouldn’t observe the sabbath. Even you posted the article about the SDA who gave up his sabbath observation.

Honestly my main goal at this point is to try the Messianic Church in my town. I don’t agree with them on the doctrine of Annihilation but the rest of their doctrine seems good to me so maybe I can get past that and learn to accept the disagreement.

Sounds like the logismoi trying to keep you away from the Church because honestly, we could care less how you spend your sabbath.

I did receive email from the monks and they also discouraged sabbath keeping. Abbott Tryphon did not answer though as he forwarded the email to another monk.

Yup, and I learned my fair share of Yiddish growing up. Back in the early-mid 70s Cincinnati still had German as a secondary language. Most of my friends were German Lutheran (me), Catholic or Jewish. What do you mean you're Baptist? Wazzat? I've had a few people do family genealogies and once I get back to the 1700s in Germany, there is no notice of a baptismal record. Since my surname is commonly Jewish, I can assume that at some point that branch of the family was probably Jewish. I've thought about doing a DNA test but havent bothered.

Rabbinic Judaism looks for a different type of Messiah. There are Jewish believers, there are even Orthodox Churches (St Nicholas and at the Holy Trinity cathedral of the Russian Moscow Mission in Jerusalem) with a Jewish priest (Av Aleksandr...Fr Alexander Winogradsky Frenkel) who performs services in Hebrew! It is amazing to me! It makes my heart swell with joy!

You really should not base all of this on if a local priest (likely VERY busy right now) replies to your email.
