Rep. Rashida Tlaib says she won't visit Israel after being allowed to enter on humanitarian grounds

It was a political stunt , Israel gave their ok for her to come in based on humanitarian basis, and she says no.

The moment she could not go as a Representative of her political party, she is no longer wanting to go as just a US citizen.

You are correct. It is the right of free speech she would be abandoning. You know? The one were the government does not have the power to silence you?

That right is not absolute, remember?

Should you have the right to go to these states and state your opinion on the laws they enact?

Opinions can be stated at any time without causing violence or uprisings. If she wants to state an opinion, she can use social media just like everyone else. Everyone will see her opinion.

Again with the false dichotomy. Reiterating it will not change my objection to your characterization.

Object to it as much as you like. It's still a fact.

Free speech is more important. Do you disagree?

More important than her own family? If going to Israel for the main purpose of complaining about Israel, then why not go to any state in America instead and complain about what she doesn't like about each one? Nobody will stop her from doing that. But then, maybe that's what she wants???

Think of it this way: If you had a big family that was always having an annual family reunion, and you were someone who always showed up to start arguments with people and you always tried turning people against each other, don't you think the family would eventually not invite you to come anymore? They may even simply tell you that you are no longer invited.

I'm sorry Aldebaran, but you will have to explain why I should find this damning because I'm not seeing how this informs me it is a cynical grab for power?

I'd explain it that way if that was what I said my point was.

fair enough

You disagree with the president's foreign policy decisions with regard to israel. Perhaps, you also objected to his recognizing the Israeli capital of Jerusalem, and lots of his other actions in cooperating with our most important ally in the Middle East.

If a Democrat is elected to be president, the new president will make different decisions.

Israel is not an ally of the US. The US is an ally of Israel.

Yup. Now if only the Deep State were actually as powerful as the Right seems to think it is.

Being a former government worker (eons ago) I have been really saddened at what the Trump administration has been able to force these departments to do on his behalf. Trump has no view of history and no view of anything that requires thought or reason. He's a toddler with a hammer who is getting his jollies destroying things. When he's gone the rest of the country will have to pick up the mess.

I believe that is his ultimate intention. Each branch of the federal government has at various times put the kibosh on his financial schemes. I believe his intention in office is to hamstring, castrate, and hogtie each branch of government to prevent it from ever being able to limit his (and his kids') future financial shenanigans.

Was Israel really wrong to reject someone who was likely to break Israeli law and speak out in favor of the boycott, especially during the three weeks before the election? I would note that when the congresswoman petitioned Israel for a humanitarian exception to the law barring those who speak out in favor of the boycott, Israel fooled the congresswoman and said yes. She then showed her true colors, indicating that her purpose was to speak out, not to visit her grandmother.

Democrats continue to be hoodwinked by Trump into supporting the Squad. Trump's plan continues to work.
I see no reason, to believe they were going to break laws. Taking like grown up aren't breaking laws, maybe Trump should act like a grown up. Instead of increasing hate.

But Conservative Christians don't do that. They want to enforce their religious laws on everyone. Even though they fail to live by them.

so?

Was March 15th close to the time of an election?

Was there a law against admitting those who opposed Obama's Iran policy?

If the answer to both is yes, I can see the parallel.

The Republicans did indeed invite Bibi to speak during the previous administration even though Bibi spoke ill of Obama.

Trump isn't the subject of this thread. Sorry!
Anyway, what is your version of talking like a grown-up? Holding up signs and chanting "Hey Hey Ho Ho, Israeli policies have got to go!"?

What religious laws are you referring to?

Israel's national policies are not always worthy of support. Even God has said so.

Supporting Jews is a different thing--every government that has tried to destroy the Jews has come to ruin.

But not even all Israelis support everything the Israeli government does. That's why they have opposition parties.
And from what I read, the last election was really close, which could be why the PM decided to retract his original decision to let them in.

He hates them, huh? Have you ever read any of these women's Twitter postings about Trump? Show me where the love is there, assuming it matters.
Also, they were ultimately allowed in, only for them to back out on their own.

Doesn't matter because

I do disagree. I believe that Israel has been one of the most valuable allies to the US with regard to military and intelligence matters.

Israel is not an ally of the US. The US is an ally of Israel.
