Will God ignore Acts 10:34,35 for descendants of Jacob?
No. How can I make myself clearer?
The prophesies plainly state that Jacob will be redeemed. Micah 5:7-9, Ezekiel 30:10-11, Zechariah 10:9
All the faithful Christians, of whom the actual descendants of Jacob are a majority, will go to live in all of the holy Land.
The entire human race are descendants of Jacob.
I do not agree that this is completely true. There are many isolated and separate people groups around the world. They have histories going back thousands of years, only in the modern period has contact been made with many of them.

You can make yourself clearer by not deliberately misstating Scripture.

Micah 5:7,8 -- "...the remnant of Jacob..."

As defined according to Isaiah 10:22: "For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness."

And reaffirmed in Romans 9:27: "Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:"

And Romans 11:5: "Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace."

All of which refer to the faithful obedient remnant within the Israelite nation.

I do not agree that this is completely true. There are many isolated and separate people groups around the world. They have histories going back thousands of years, only in the modern period has contact been made with many of them.

Jacob goes back over 3,000 years. Genetic ubiquity, established mathematically and supported empirically, confirms his DNA within the entire human race today, irrespective of whether or not you agree.

Try reading Genesis 11:7-8
The peoples were dispersed BEFORE Abraham was chosen. They didn't necessarily intermarry.

But you seem unable to admit that the Christian people; the vast multitude from every tribe, race, nation and language, are [mainly] people whom God will rescue, Redeem, restore and forgive their sins. This truth clearly means that they are the people that God originally chose, the descendants of the Patriarchs.
Who are now the Western Christian nations, scattered round the world. Deuteronomy 28:64

He chose the faithful and obedient, both descendants and non-descendants, of the patriarchs.

That is, ancestry was and is irrelevant. (Genesis 17:12).

God is not a racist.

Israel was subject to multiple scatterings and dispersals of no less cumulative magnitude than those of Babel. Intermarriage between Israelites and foreigners was common even when Israel was a nation. It was no less common among exiled Israelites.

Try understanding Deuteronomy 28.

Deuteronomy 28
64 And the Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.

And try to cease racializing God and His Word.

That's a bit heavy, isn't it? I promote the actual Words of scripture and it is clear that God does have a people He chose, they sinned; they went into exile for e set time, then He will Redeem, restore and forgive them, as they go back to their heritage; the holy Land.

Israelites: All who follow after righteousness, all who seek the Lord…..Abraham is your father, Sarah your mother: the Rock from which you are hewn. Isaiah 51:1-2

Leviticus 26:40-43 Even though the Israelites confess their iniquity, their own and that of their forefathers, I in My turn will oppose them while they live in the enemies land. If then, their stubborn spirit is broken and they accept their punishment in full, I shall remember My Covenant with the Patriarchs and I shall remember the Land. The Land, bereft of its rightful people will enjoy in full its Sabbaths, while it lies desolate. My people will pay their penalty in full because they spurned My statutes and judgements.

Leviticus 26:44-45 Yet, even while they live outside their Land, I will not have so rejected them as to bring them to an end and break My Covenant with them, because I am the Lord their God. I shall remember on their behalf, the Covenant that I made with their ancestors, whom I brought out of Egypt. I am Y’hovah.

Deuteronomy 30:1-5 When all these things have happened to you in the nations to which I have banished you, if you and your children turn back to the Lord and obey His commands with your heart and soul: Then the Lord, your God will restore your fortunes. In compassion for you, He will gather you again from the peoples, even from the ends of the earth. He will fetch you home, back to the land of your ancestors and you will occupy it once again. You will be more prosperous and numerous than your forefathers.

Deuteronomy 30:6-10 The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts, so that you will love Him and obey His commands, and then you will live. All the curses that you endured will be turned against your enemies, those who persecute you. He will make you more prosperous in all that you do, in your families and the produce of the Land. When you turn back to your God with all your heart, He will again rejoice over you and do you good.

The prayer of Daniel for the Redemption and Restoration of all the Israelites:

Daniel 9:4-14 Lord, great and terrible God, You keep faith with those who love You and observe Your commandments, we have sinned and rebelled against You. We have not listened to Your prophets, who spoke in Your Name to our forefathers. Lord, the right is on Your side; the shame, now as ever belongs to us, the people of Judah and to all the Israelites, near and far in every land to which You have banished them for their disloyal behaviour toward You. All Israel has broken Your Law and refused to obey Your commandments, so that the oath and curses recorded by Moses have rained down upon us, for we have sinned against God. He has carried out the just punishments and brought upon us the disasters as foretold. Yet we have done nothing to appease the Lord, our God; we have neither repented of our wrongful deeds, nor remembered that You are true to Your Word. The Lord has kept strict watch and done what He said He would do.

Daniel 9:15-19 Now, Lord our God who brought Your people out of Egypt by a strong hand and winning for Yourself a great Name; we have sinned, we have done wrong. Lord, by all Your saving deeds; we beg that Your wrath and anger depart from Jerusalem and Your Land. Listen, our God, to Your servants prayer and supplication for Your sake, Lord look favorably on Your sanctuary that is desecrated. God, incline Your ear to Your people, and hear us, we pray. It is not because of any righteous doings of ours, but because of Your great mercy that we lay our supplication before You. Lord; hear, Lord; forgive, Lord; listen and act, God for Your own sake do not delay, for reputation of the city and for the people that bear Your Name.
Who ARE the Christians today!

Acts 26:6-7 In the hope based on the promise God made to our forefathers, all twelve tribes of Israel worship with intense devotion, looking forward to the fulfilment of that promise. Reference: Revised English Bible. Some verses abridged.

Since Jesus came and extended salvation to all who would accept it, every Christian is an Israelite of God. Galatians 6:16 Every faithful Christian is a holy child of God.
But the majority are actual Israelites by descent. God will fulfil His promises; His people are Redeemed, by Jesus and will. soon after the Sixth Seal world changer, migrate to and live in all that area given to Abraham so long ago. Psalms 107, Ezekiel 20:34-38, Romans 9:23-26

The woman at the well agrees with you.
Did you miss the part where Jesus corrected her?

Joh 4:20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship."
Joh 4:21 Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Joh 4:22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
Joh 4:23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
Joh 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

Gal 4:25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children—
Gal 4:26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Heb 11:15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.
Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
2Pe 3:11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
2Pe 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Rev_3:12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

What makes you think the people in the middle east who call themselves jews are actually jews as they claim? Genetic testing has shown otherwise (google around if you don't believe this). They do not practice Judaism because they can't offer the yearly sacrifices to cover their sins, so that nixes the religious angle. They might try to claim to be ethnically jewish, but Talmud is Babylonian satanism, and contradicts Torah. We also know from Torah that ancient Israelites were not matrilineal, but patrilineal, so why does the secular nation of Israel place so much importance on maternal decent?

Conclusion: There are no people on Earth that can be recognized as decedents of the ancient biblical Israel based on culture/genetics/religious practice other than Christians as a religious continuation. Ironically, Arabs are actually closest genetically, and we know per scripture that doesn't count, since Sarah was not their mother.

Jesus was quite right, for nearly 2000 years, we Christians have worshipped God away from Jerusalem.
This is soon to change and after the Lord has cleared and cleansed all of the holy Land, Deuteronomy 32:34-43, we will all travel to there and live in peace and prosperity. We will build a new Temple, as described in Ezekiel 40-46 and the Shekinah Glory of God will reside in it. Ezekiel 43:1-4

Many anthropological proofs show that those people who call themselves Jews, have little or no actual descent from Judah. Jesus says what they are; Revelation 2:9

So Jesus must have changed, or is "soon to change", His mind. Where in Scripture does He inform us of that?

God never changes, Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8
He wanted a Temple in ancient times and He will have one in the end times. Haggai 2:6-9, 2 Thess 2:4, +

As for the Shekinah Glory, it represents the Presence of God.

The 3rd temple is found in 1 Peter 2:4-10.
I know where the "chief cornerstone" of that temple is now located.

I handled some of the other stones today.

If God wanted a temple, but Jesus said there would no longer be such a temple, then there's obvious divine disagreement.

How do you resolve it?

I have already done so. Jesus referred to the Church age, now nearly over.

So you believe when one is born again, they literally come out of their mothers womb a 2nd time?

If you don't believe that, but instead believe that the earthly picture of being born points to the heavenly reality of spiritual regeneration, then why would you believe earthly pictures of animal sacrifices, Sabbaths, and temples point to another earthly picture of animal sacrifices, Sabbaths, and temples?

Hebrews 10:1 For the law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship

Not in the least.

The pivotal question: Who has the Last Word?

Matthew 17:5
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Hebews 1:1,2
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

It is unarguable that God long ago vested in His Son the authority to have the Last Word.

The Last Word of the Son is that the Jerusalem temple was, is, and will be, no more, as a center of true worship.

The Father cannot be other than in full, complete, and perfect agreement.

Futurism's imaginations, protestations, and rejections notwithstanding.

The old covenant was an agreement between God and the nation of Israel. IF Israel obeyed all of the commandments in the law of moses, they would be blessed with specific earthly blessings (deuteronomy 28:1-14). IF Israel did not obey all of the commandments in the law of moses, they would be cursed with specific earthly curses (deuteronomy 28:15-68).

The old covenant agreement also stated that after the specific earthly blessings and curses had been poured out (deuteronomy 28-29), then WHEN the nation of Israel would return to the Lord, He would restore them from captivity and bring them back to the land.(deuteronomy 30:1-5).

These are very specific promissory clauses for the nation of Israel found in the old covenant. IF the old covenant was made obsolete and is no longer an agreement between the nation of Israel and God, then these promissory clauses are now null and void.

Daniel confirms the curses of the law were poured out on the nation of Israel (Daniel 9:11), thus fulfilling the promissory clauses in the old covenant agreement (deuteronomy 28:15-68 and Deuteronomy 29).

Jeremiah confirms that the restoring from captivity and being brought back from the land would occur after 70 years of Babylonian exile (Jeremiah 29:10-14) thus fulfilling the promissory clauses of the old covenant (deuteronomy 30:1-5).

Depends on what you mean by "restoration". If you mean the nation of Israel's restoration to the present physical land of Israel, well that promise was made null and void, as the old covenant was taken away and made obsolete by Christ (Hebrews 8:13, Hebrews 10:9).

We don't get to cherry pick which promises and curses from the old covenant are still in effect today to suit our eschatological biases. The conditional agreement (old covenant) between the nation of Israel and God is obsolete. To cherry pick and say some of the promissory clauses from the old covenant are not done away with means the old covenant is still in effect, which contradicts NT scripture.

Which specific laws and commandments, that the nation of Israel had to obey under the old covenant, that were subsequently fulfilled by Christ is not the OP (although that would be a great discussion for another thread). Whether the civil, ceremonial, or moral parts of the law of moses remain or have been changed is not what's in question here. What is in question here is if the promissory clauses (curses and blessings) in regards the nation of Israel's obedience and/or disobedience to the civil, ceremonial, and moral parts of the law are still in effect.

My argument is no, they are not still in effect. They have been made null and void and are now superseded by better promises under the new covenant. To say that they are still in effect would be to say that the old covenant (the agreement between the nation of Israel and God) is still in effect, and this would contradict NT scripture.

However, if the promise of land restoration is still in effect, we should easily be able to find it in the new covenant. However, no one in the forum who promotes physical land restoration has yet provided a specific verse from the NT that shows the 1st century body of Christ was looking forward to land restoration.

[Had to issue this response into several posts due to space limitation]

Just because the Old Covenant was made null and void by the New Covenant, that does not mean that all that was under the Old Covenant was made obsolete as well as there were elements associated with the Old Covenant that were still carried over into the New covenant—the Ten Commandments and other moral laws for example.

We still abide in those, not because we think they will save us—we know we cannot be saved by them—but we still do so because we do not want to stand before Christ ashamed. We should want to receive as much honor and praise from Him as we can with as few regrets and as little shame as possible.

What did pass away with the Old Covenant were things such as the dietary and cleanliness laws as well as that priestly system under which animal sacrifices had to be frequently carried out because their blood served only as a temporal covering for sin whereas the blood of Christ permanently takes away sin.

But, as I said before, I will not delve into the details about what passed away with the Old Covenant and what was carried over from the Old Covenant into the New Covenant. I will do that on some other thread

But Romans chapter 11 makes it very clear that the promises of restoration, including land restoration, were not done away with.

It cannot be denied that when they obeyed God, they were blessed and made prosperous. When they disobeyed God, all the curses of which they were warned did come to pass, including their which was concluded with the Babylonian captivity of the Southern captivity of Judah. When they repented of their evil, they were restored to their land. And once again, when they rejected Jesus their Messiah, they faced judgment, but the Apostle Paul said that restoration could come to them again if they did not continue in unbelief (Rom. 11:23) and that has included and always will include land restoration and because the Apostle Paul still called them the children of the promise (Rom. 9:8) in spite of their unbelief, even if they were not called the children of God due to their rejection of the Gospel.

In other words, the promises as it pertained to the earthly, were not the promises of salvation that they could only receive in Christ but in Christ, they not only retain the earthly promises, but they also partake in the same promises that everyone else in Christ does.

As to what promises are unique unto the Jews which have been made to no other people and the promises that we do share in common with the Jews who are saved in Christ would make a great Bible study, but not for this thread.

“We don't get to cherry pick which promises and curses from the old covenant are still in effect today to suit our eschatological biases. The conditional agreement (old covenant) between the nation of Israel and God is obsolete.”

No one is cherry picking anything. When Paul spoke of the restoration of the Jews and reconciliation with God, (Rom. 11:12, 15) what did he have to point to in order to make that case except what was written in the law and spoken of by the prophets? And every restorative promise of which both the law and the prophets speak is what Paul did have in mind as it pertained to the Jewish people and that also included physical land restoration.

You are not just accusing me of cherry picking what promises and curses from the Old Covenant are still in effect to suit an eschatological bias, but you are also accusing the Apostle Paul of the same because it is he who said that God has not cast away the Jews who are His chosen people (Rom. 11:1) and he defends that claim by pointing to the law and the prophets in which those promises of preservation and restoration are made.

“To cherry pick and say some of the promissory clauses from the old covenant are not done away with means the old covenant is still in effect, which contradicts NT scripture.”

Paul believed that as it pertained to Israel that they were still in effect. The curses they would endure as long as they remained in unbelief, but the restoration and blessings they would receive once more along with the salvation of their souls if they did not remain in unbelief but would come to Christ in repentance.

Think about what you are saying. By the statement you just made, you are accusing Paul of claiming the Old Covenant of being in effect in contradiction to the Gospel that he was commissioned to preach and we know that Paul was not claiming the Old Covenant to be in effect. He repeatedly stated the opposite.

“Was Israel recognized as an independent nation by the persian empire upon its return from exile in fulfillment of prophecy? No, Israel was not recognized by Persia as an independent nation. So it would be incorrect to state that 1948 fulfills prophecy, as being recognized by world powers as an independent nation is not a requirement for prophecy to be fulfilled.”

That is why the 37th chapter of Ezekiel is significant because it foretold of their restoration as a sovereign nation. (Ezek. 37:22) They were restored to their land under the Persian empire, but they never fully regained their sovereignty until 1948. If Israel’s present existence as an independent nation is not a fulfillment Ezekiel 37:22 then what else could? Those who deny that Israel’s present existence as an independent nation is a fulfillment of prophecy are clearly denying the obvious. I am not going go into full detailed study about what Ezekiel 37 is telling us in regards to the restoration of Israel except both a physical and spiritual restoration was foretold. The physical restoration of Israel has already taken place. The next thing to come is their spiritual restoration which will be completed in Christ. Granted that the Jews will have to undergo a sifting process in which all ungodliness is purged from them before they finally submit themselves to Christ, but when that purging is done, those who have survived it will welcome Jesus as their Messiah and every promise made to them will be fulfilled in Him, but it will be done exactly as the scriptures have stated that they will be fulfilled.

“Does being born again literally mean coming out of the womb a 2nd time? or was Christ using an earthly picture to give a heavenly meaning? So was the law. It was a shadow, an earthly picture, pointing to the heavenly reality, which is Christ. How could we understand that unless Christ gave us the Spirit?”

Christ made it very clear that being born again is a spiritual transformation. Even Nicodemus received a rebuke for failing to understand what he should have understood.

The promise is found in the Abrahamic covenant not the OC. In the OC, it only REPEATS the promises made TO THE PATRIARCHS. You are 430 years TOO LATE.

A number of your verses are quoted OUT of their context as your main verse is. Here it is in context showing the promises to Abraham & his seed (the patriarchs ARE plural & refer to Abraham, Isaac & Jacob). Christ & the prophets & the apostles all referred to these promises as given to the PATRIARCHS (also synonymous with 'THE FATHERS') & Paul shows plainly this was 430 years BEFORE the Law was given & the OC established.

Galatians 3:15-18 Brothers, let me put this in HUMAN TERMS. Even a human covenant, once it is RATIFIED, CANNOT BE CANCELED OR AMENDED.

16The promises were spoken TO Abraham AND TO his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ.

17WHAT I MEAN IS THIS: The law that came 430 years LATER DOES NOT REVOKE THE COVENANT PREVIOUSLY ESTABLISHED BY GOD, so as to cancel the promise. For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God FREELY granted it TO Abraham through a promise.

The ground for fulfillment lies first in the nature of the promises themselves rooted as they are in the ORIGINAL COMMAND made to Abraham to leave his father’s land & to go to A LITERAL LAND that God would show him. The promises originally given to Abraham are REITERATED AGAIN & AGAIN & FORM THE BACKBONE OF THE OT PROPHETIC REVELATION. The promise OF THE LAND sustained Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as they contemplated the future of their seed.

The promise OF THE LITERAL LAND was that which dominated Moses & Joshua as they brought the children of Israel from Egypt to the LITERAL land. The hope of REGATHERING OF THE NATION OF ISRAEL TO THE LITERAL LAND was that which sustained Jeremiah & Ezekiel at the time of the captivities & Israel’s moral apostasy.

It formed the basis of their hope IN FUTURE RESTORATION, LITERALLY TO THE PHYSICAL LAND & spiritually & politically. It has been further noticed that the very statement of the promises, though linked with a future repentance of Israel, is stated as CERTAIN & SURE. It is linked with the perpetuity of the seed of Abraham which is promised continuance as long as the sun & moon endure.

The promise of the land was integral in the original covenant with Abraham & was understood by him in a literal way. This is demonstrated in the constant reiteration of the promise in which literal possession of the land is implied or stated. The countless promises of the Old Testament which relate to the promise of the land were considered seriatim ('taking one subject after another in regular order; point by point') in a representative way. Such major passages as Isaiah 11, 14, 43, 60, 66, Jeremiah 16, 30, 31, 32, 33, Ezekiel 11, 20, 34, 37, 39, Hosea 3, Joel 3, Amos 9, Obadiah, Micah 4, Zechariah 8, and 10 were cited. Certainly this is an overwhelming proof that the entire OT lends its confirmation to a promise of future possession of the literal land to Israel.

These promises, though subject to delay & temporary dispossession, were never transferred to Gentiles but were declared to be unending in character, its title given forever with specific boundaries announced in Genesis 15 to Abraham himself.

Jesus is coming back the second time to rescue the nation of Israel back in the land again, from all the other nations. He will come back in the same way He went up, His feet again touching down on the Mt of Olives & He is coming to establish HIS MILLENIAL REIGN FOR 1000 YEARS IN JERUSALEM, ON MT. ZION, REIGNING OVER THE NATION OF ISRAEL & GIVING THEM PEACE FOR 1000 YEARS.

Christ is the PROMISED MESSIAH, the seed of Abraham, the descendant of David, who will reign on his throne over the nation of Israel. All the prophets predict this will happen. Jesus predicts this will happen. The apostles predict this will happen.

IT WILL HAPPEN--IN THE LITERAL LAND PROMISED TO ABRAHAM--FOR 1000 YEARS. The nations will COME TO JERUSALEM.

God has not forgotten His promises to Abraham, including the literal land. Even though the nation of Israel (distinct from the spiritual Israel of God) is in rebellion due to their rejection of Christ as the Messiah at this time of the Gentiles, God will upon His second coming, re-establish the repentant nation back in the literal land where Christ will literally reign there for 1000 years in this present age & the present heavens & earth.

Jesus said He will literally sit down with the fathers, the patriarchs, 'Abraham, Isaac & Jacob in His kingdom & celebrate again with the bread & wine.

The body of Christ now on earth is spiritual, the body of Christ, the dwelling of God in the Spirit, during this time of the Gentiles. When that ends at the second coming of Christ, the nation's power will be canceled & Christ will rule on the earth through the nation of Israel.

John F. Walvoord, long-time president of Dallas Theological Seminary, was one of the most prominent evangelical scholars of his generation. He was considered perhaps the world's foremost interpreter of biblical prophecy. Here is his detailed description of these promises to Abraham before the OC & repeated all through the Bible & concerning the literal land & the nation of Israel returning to it.

The Promise Of The Land To Israel

In the broad program of prophecy relating to Israel, few factors are more important than the promise to Abraham of the perpetual possession of the land. It's not only constantly reiterated in prophecies relating to Israel's hope, but it is an integral part of the call to Abraham which begins the program.

According to Gen 12:1 God had said to Abraham: “Get thee out of thy country & from thy kindred & from thy father’s house, unto the land that I will show thee.” It is almost impossible to avoid the plain “implication that the term the land was a geographic designation & that Abraham understood it in this way.

Practically all conservative expositors agree that Abraham was instructed in his original call to leave his native country, Ur of the Chaldees & proceed to the land of Canaan. The historical record of his journey is recorded in Gen 11:31:

“And Terah took Abram his son & Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son & Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife & they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. And they came unto Haran & dwelt there.”

After delay in Haran, still outside the land of Canaan, they finally entered the land itself after the death of Terah as recorded in Gen 12:5: “And Abram took Sarai his wife & Lot his brother’s son & all their substance that they had gathered & the souls that they had gotten in Haran & they went forth to go into the land of Canaan & into the land of Canaan they came.”

The original call to Abraham, therefore, involved a GEOGRAPHIC understanding & that to Abraham the expression the land meant the land of Canaan promised to him & his seed.

It would seem redundant to cite these proofs if it were not for the fact that the term the land & its related promises are frequently spiritualized as if they had no geographic implications whatever.

As has been pointed out in previous discussion, amillenarians usually follow one of two routes...namely, (1) that the promises of the land are to be spiritualized & relate to heaven; or (2) that the promises are to be interpreted literally but are conditional & will never be fulfilled.

In order to consider the amillennial argument, it is necessary to examine first the promise of the land to the seed of Abraham as unfolded in the OT; second, to study the dispossessions of the land involved in the 3 dispersions of Israel; third, to ascertain whether these promises have in some sense already been fulfilled or whether they are subject to future fulfillment & 4th, whether taking the evidence as a whole there is good ground for belief in the future fulfillment of these promises. Certain conclusions may then be drawn concerning Israel’s prophetic hope.

The Promise Of The Land To Abraham’s Seed
In examining the promise of the land, it may be observed first that Abraham understood the promises of God as relating to the literal land of Canaan. This is shown by his movement from Ur to Canaan as has already been pointed out.

It is further confirmed by the promise in Gen 12:7 given AFTER his entrance into the land: “Unto thy seed will I give THIS land.” Certainly Abraham understood it to refer to the physical land of Canaan.

This is reinforced by his experience in Gen 13 where after being separated from Lot he is urged to look northward, southward, eastward & westward (vs 14). At that time God assured him: “For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it & to thy seed for ever” (vs 15).

Further, he is instructed: “Arise, WALK THROUGH the land in the length of it & in the breadth of it: for unto thee will I give it” (vs 17). It is practically impossible to evade understanding these verses as referring to the literal land.

In Genesis 15:18-91 the exact dimensions of the land are given & the territory is described as running from the river of Egypt, which was the borderline between Egypt & Canaan & the great river, the river Euphrates, hundreds of miles to the east.

It becomes clear from the description which follows which itemizes the heathen tribes occupying this territory that God had in mind more than just the small area occupied by the Canaanite himself, but rather the entire area between these two boundaries. Here again it is obvious Abraham understood that a large geographic area was involved.

The NT comments on this expectation of Abraham in Hebrews 11:8, 9 where it is written: “By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out unto a place which he was to receive for an inheritance & he went out, not knowing whither he went.

By faith he became a sojourner in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents, with Isaac & Jacob, THE HEIRS WITH HIM OF THE SAME PROMISE.” So far, all must agree that a literal land is in view.

Amillenarians are quick to point out, however, that vs 10 goes on to say: “For he looked for the city which hath the foundations, whose builder & maker is God.” Also, in Heb 11:16 it adds: “But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.”

Do these allusions to a heavenly CITY (not land) nullify the idea of a literal land? A careful study of this passage will demonstrate that the subject is Abraham’s faith.

His faith first of all was in regard to the land & his faith was indicated by his obedience & his sojourning in the land in tents. The same faith which he manifested in God’s promise concerning the land is also manifested in Abraham’s faith concerning the heavenly city. The land represented God’s promise in relation to time, more specifically, THE FUTURE KINGDOM OF CHRIST ON EARTH, while the heavenly city has to do with eternity, the New Jerusalem & the new earth.

In the case of both, Abraham never possessed in life the fulfillment of the promises & like others he died in faith before the promises were fulfilled. The fact that Abraham believed both the temporal promises of God & the eternal promises of God does not lead to the conclusion that the earthly promise & the heavenly promise are one & the same.

It is rather that they require the same attitude of faith. The major emphasis of Scripture, however, is on Abraham’s belief in the temporal promises of God & to this the Scriptures constantly refer.

The allusions to the eternal state & Abraham’s expectation & faith are in fact rare, while the promises relating to possession of the land are one of the major themes of the OT.

In presenting the Messianic hope, Isaiah, in the major passage of Isa 11:1-12, after describing the justice which will characterize the land when the Messiah reigns, prophesies the regathering of the children of Israel “from Assyria & from Egypt & from Pathros & from Cush & from Elam & from Shinar & from Hamath & from the islands of the sea.”

He goes on to state that He is going to “gather together the dispersion of Judah from the four corners of the earth.” The whole context makes clear that they are being brought back to the literal land.

Similar passages abound in Isaiah. For instance, in Isaiah 14:1 it is declared: “For Jehovah will have compassion on Jacob & will YET CHOOSE ISRAEL & set them IN THEIR OWN LAND.”

According to Isa 27:13 the children of Israel are going to be gathered from Assyria & Egypt & “they will worship Jehovah in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.” This of course involves a return to the literal land.

In Isa 43:5-7 the regathering of Israel to the land is described: “Fear not; for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east & gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up & to the south, keep not back. Bring my sons from afar & my daughters from the ends of the earth; every one that is called by My name & whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, yea, whom I have made.”

It is stated categorically in Isa 60:21: “Thy people also shall be all righteous; they shall inherit the land for ever.”

The book of Isaiah concludes with a great prophecy concerning the regathering of Israel as it will be consummated when they are brought from the ends of the earth to the Promised Land in the BEGINNING OF THE MILLENIAL REIGN ON CHRIST ON EARTH.

According to Isa 66:20: “And they shall bring all your brethren out of all the nations for an oblation unto heaven, upon horses & in chariots & in litters & upon mules & upon dromedaries, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith Jehovah, as the children of Israel bring their oblation in a clean vessel into the house of Jehovah.”

This theme of Israel is continued in Jer 16:14-16: “Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that it shall no more be said, As Jehovah liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

but, as Jehovah lives, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north & from all the countries whither he had driven them. And I will bring them again into THEIR LAND THAT I GAVE TO THE FATHERS.

Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith Jehovah & they shall fish them up; & afterward I will send for many hunters & they shall hunt them from every mountain & from every hill & out of the clefts of the rocks.”

It should be noted that the regathering of Israel to their ancient land is here described as being a regathering to the last man, something that was not remotely approached in ANY previous return.

In describing the time of the great tribulation in Jer 30:1-7, it is declared in verse 3: “For, lo, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will turn again the captivity of my people Israel AND Judah, saith Jehovah & I will cause them to return to the land THAT I GAVE TO THEIR FATHERS & they shall possess it.”

It is further stated in Jer 30:10, 11: “Therefore fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith Jehovah; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar & thy seed from the land of their captivity & Jacob WILL RETURN & shall be quiet & at ease & none shall make him afraid.

For I am with thee, saith Jehovah, to save thee: for I will make a full end of ALL THE NATIONS whither I have scattered thee, but I will NOT make a full end of thee; but I will correct thee in measure & will in no wise leave thee unpunished.”

In Jer 31 the return of Israel to the land is predicted in vs 5: “Again shalt thou plant vineyards upon the mts of Samaria; the planters shall plant & shall enjoy the fruit thereof.”

The regathering is described in Jer 31:8: “Behold, I will bring them from the north country & gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth & with them the blind & the lame, the woman with child & her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall they return hither.”

In the description of the NEW COVENANT in Jer 31:31-40 it is predicted that Israel will RETURN TO THE LAND & that Jerusalem will be built in a certain area which had formerly NEVER BEEN USED for building purposes. It is remarkable that THIS PRECISE AREA has been built into a portion of the MODERN CITY OF JERUSALEM in fulfillment of this prophecy. (to be continued)

And how does all this happen without them (orthodox Jews) recognizing Jesus as Messiah?
