Hence the problem. If we take gender out of the picture, they will have nothing to complain about. They're not satisfied with that. They need you to recognize them as whatever they identify with. Nothing less will do.

If they're in newspaper articles, feel free. If they're your friends, other students in your school, members of your church, that's not a good option. In that case, you use language to help them. Using Chosen Names Reduces Odds of Depression and Suicide in Transgender Youths - UT News. One of the major disagreements between Jesus and the Pharisees was that for Jesus, the Law must yield to helping people. (Luke 6:3 ff)Hah! Just ignore em!
What places do that? I mean, single occupant bathrooms obviously have to be coed, but large public bathrooms I've never seen. Not sure about the other issues, but they should just make public bathrooms coed. Just have individual stalls. Lots of places do this already and they have no problems. It would put the whole thing to rest.
In restroom design, private is the new public. I hadn't thought of it before, but there turn out to be a number of people who could use this. What places do that? I mean, single occupant bathrooms obviously have to be coed, but large public bathrooms I've never seen.
Now that's not a bad idea. I'm all for a little extra privacy in the bathroom. Eliminates a lot of the aspects of public bathrooms I hated ("Can people see me through that gap on the hinge side of the stall door??")In restroom design, private is the new public. Kinda hard to do when they start convincing politicians who pass laws to enforce their agenda.Hah! Just ignore em!
What do you mean? Are you saying they disagree with their biology? They object to that view . . . whether you like it or not.

How about if we just don’t address it? When referring to men vs women, when deciding which public restroom or shower facility to use, when unsure to call someone a ma'am or sir, instead of assuming gender, why not just assume sex? The difference? Sex refers to biology, (XX vs XY chromosomes, sex organs, etc) where as gender refers to perceived social roles based on sex.
When I speak to people, if I use the pronoun he or she, I’m referring to their sex not their gender. I’m making an assumption of their biology, not whatever confusion they might have going on inside of their heads. If a biological woman identifies as a man, she shouldn’t assume I am addressing her identification when I call her she, this woman should assume I am referring to her biology.
Does this make sense? Your thoughts?

I never suggested ignoring people. Why is my solution not a good one?Yes it is hard to do. That's why your solution is not a good one.
Suppose you are trying to describe to the police the person who robbed you?well maybe just easier to drop the Mister, Miss, Mrs. , ma'am, sir, etc .... and just address everyone as you or person.
ex ... may I help you
Do you know that person
Go talk to that person over there
The restrooms are over there

It is easier to change how words are defined rather than trying to get rid of words.
What does it mean to identify with a biological sex? And how does my suggestion prevent people from doing this?Unless I've misunderstood you, your solution is precisely to ignore people - ignoring their complaints about not wanting to identify with their biological sex.

My suggestion does not prevent people from identifying with various genders, I'm just saying they should assume a stranger is referring to their sex not their gender when addressed, and public facilities is in reference to their sex, not their gender when they wish to use.well ... not sure about that ... there's like 92 or more gender definitions.
