CNN is just reporting this. It seems as if some waited for Congressman Conyers to resign before going public with their position. They are also reporting that Franken will make an announcement tomorrow.

Wow.... Talk about a snowball gaining strength. A few minutes have passed and the tally is now 10 Democratic Senators calling on him to resign. It seems most unlikely now that he can survive.
Unlikely.

I do not think it is a matter of whether or not his colleagues like him. Let's face it everyone. The #1 topic in the news for the past 4-6 weeks has been sexual harassment and sexual abuse by powerful men against women. I suspect that the Senate Dems just feel that this issue is too hot for them to ignore.

I am still waiting for the GOP to find their conscience....

Republicans have four responses to Roy Moore - CNNPolitics

More than 20 Republicans have called for Roy Moore to step aside.

"President Donald Trump led an aggressive charge Monday on behalf of embattled Senate nominee Roy Moore, with the Republican National Committee rejoining Moore's side in Alabama weeks after cutting ties with him following allegations of sexual misconduct.
Before dawn, Trump took to Twitter to declare his strongest support yet for Moore. By day's end, the RNC was back in his corner and America First Action, a pro-Trump group, said it would spend $1.1 million to try to push Moore across the finish line.
...
Trump's message came on the same day that the RNC reversed itself and returned to Alabama to support Moore, less than three weeks after pulling out of a joint fundraising agreement with his campaign. An RNC official with knowledge of the plans, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the re-engagement. The committee did not immediately issue any public statements announcing the move."

As I've said since I came back, there is a paradigm shift happening. As for the Democrats, it has little to nothing to do with morals, but the "Listen and believe" culture that they've helped foster eating their own.

Addressing sexual misconduct instead of excusing it or sweeping it under the rug IS a moral standard.

Perhaps take your own advice.

More than 20 Republicans have called for Roy Moore to step aside.

And yet, the president and the RNC have chosen to support him and his base of support remains strong.

... and no new allegations have come forward about Roy Moore ... despite the pesistent drumbeat of the anti-Moore liberal press.

Unlike the host of Democrat bad actors who kept doing what they were accused of, if Roy Moore did anything at all it was 40 years ago and he has since reformed his activities.

They may or may not be doing the moral thing, but let's not pretend that they're doing it for moral reasons. The only reason Democrats are not 'standing by their man' like they did with Clinton is that the Third-wavers have too much pull in the party these days.

I know, right?!

That was like forever ago when he was trying to court underage girls that were half his age at the time.

Oh, I'm not so naive as to think that any politician acts purely out of a sense of virtue. But no one can deny that not accepting sexual misconduct IS a moral standard, and even if the pols are only cow-towing to their base, you can still argue that the base is pushing for a higher standard.

Contrast that with the Republican base, which has consistently been defensive of and made excuses for the offenders within its ranks - not just Moore, but also Trump, Ailes, O'Reilly - and attacked the accusers, even when the accusers were also Republicans.

Of course.... No reason to believe democrats are actually against sexual assault for reasons other than it being politically useful.

Their base isn't arguing for a higher standard. Their base is pushing for the wrong standard: that all accusations are true. That's the problem I have with it.

I guess people really don't like him.

or, it's simply the right thing to do when these things come to the surface (and not trying to victim blame)

I don't know what base you're talking/listening to, but none of the pink-hat-third-wavers I know just want to blindly assume that all accusations are true.

Oh, are the enlightened type who think that rather than defending themselves, men should use this as a chance to start a conversation, like with that Cards Against Humanity guy?
