We initially suspected that they are St Joseph's "School" for boys under another name, but they're not. They all have the same excuse: someone gave them the icons and told them the were public domain or that they had permission to use them. This lot even claim that they pay royalties to the iconographers! The never asked my permission, not did I ever receive any royalties.

I found an icon I painted on wikipedia one time that said it was in the public domain because the artist was deceased. Imagine my surprise finding out that I had died on wikipedia of all places...

I have looked all over for an Icon of St. David of Hermopolis a.k.a.; David the Robber or David of Egypt (Sept. 6).

David was a gangster who lead a group of bandits around Hermopolis, Egypt.
After seeing the error of his ways, he wanted to become a monastic.
He went to a monastery but they recognized him and refused to let him in...
David said: If you do not let me in to become a monk, I will revert to my old ways, come back with my old gang, burn your monastery to the ground, and kill every one of you!

The Abbott reluctantly let him in but did not expect much out of him...
David became a devout monk and a miracle worker.

Unfortunately when I found out from a fellow iconographer I was using my smartphone and when I tried to report them I didn't get and option for reporting personal copyright infringement so I reported them as "prohibited by Etsy" and contacted the seller. He removed two of my icons. I never got any response from Etsy. The next day when I was on my computer I found another icon and this time a personal copyright infringement option popped up which basically says to contact the seller and then if they don't remove it Etsy will deal with it legally. But once the seller has removed the item, Etsy are like "O look, you solved the problem, we can't do anything." And the seller continues to sell other people's stolen work. There is no way to actually report the seller, only the individual items.

I went through page by page and found each infringement and reported them all. Etsy removed them. The next day I got an email from the owner of the shop apologizing in a way that makes it sound like he will be doing this again because he pays no attention to where an image comes from. This is what bothers me most in these instances. People seem to think that if they find an image online that they own it and can do whatever they want with it. I have been very blessed by God and am not in utter poverty, but I have experienced more difficult times, and still don't live in luxury. To take images and sell things with that image without regard even for the fact that someone worked to make that image is wrong because it really devalues the work of iconographers some of whom are making great sacrifices financially and personally to perform this ministry.
