  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Now I am finished on this subject and can delete it if you so wish

I should hope so because you've been off topic from your very first post. The topic of this thread is:

How would any source of life other than abiogenesis effect the theory of evolution?

I just think it's a bit insulting to those who have suffered in unimaginable ways and you rationalize it with "Mysterious ways" but if something good happens "God is great". It just too easily rationalizes the suffering of other people. I don't accept that world view.

Any chance you could get back on topic as well Jon? Christianforums closed the general apologetics subforum years ago. This subforum is Creationism and Evolution. Please stick to that topic.

That was his own experience of his men that he led - he knew them well. I was amazed to read your quote and see
the amount of trouble Atheists have gone to - to discount that well known saying. It must have struck a very raw nerve

Raw nerve? Not really, I just get amused, when someone claims they can speak for everyone.

I think that Loudmouth's original question should be addressed specifically and solely to deists, or at least those who hold a deistic view on the creation of life.
the question as stated does not apply to deists, because deists believe god created not only the first life but also every animal.
the question specifically asks about first life only.
My own objection to a deistic creation of life is that, like Laplace, we have "no need for that hypothesis." Given the results of the classic Miller-Urey experiment (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller–Urey_experiment) and many similar ones, it appears that having a supernatural creator for life is unparsimonious-
the miller-urey experiment does nothing for proving "life from lifelessness".
the only thing miller-urey proved, was that some kind of catalyst, or substrate, is needed to separate amino acid racemic mixtures.

I'd argue there has always been a good amount of atheists in all cultures. It's a difficult thing to be come out with in fear of losing meaningful relationships with friends, family, co-workers, etc.

Of course you would - Our world has become like Sodom and Gommorah that is why we are in End Times

Sodom and Gomorrah was about inhospitality, so i'm not sure what you're talking about.
"'Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy". Ezekiel 16:49

There was a lot more to it than that though you need to read all of it in fact if you got your answers from scripture you wouldn't need to ask any of these questions. Let's fact it your whole purpose of being here is to try and prove Christians are wrong to Believe in Him - you should read scripture ALL of the answers are there - just like Malcolm Muggeridge did - for years - to prove the Christian members of Brain Trust were wrong. He was so clever at it - worked it to a fine art until he went too far and went in The Word to prove his point.
that was the end of his atheist days.... he got caught! and he - was VERY clever

You forgot verse 50 ...

Ezekiel 16:50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

:help:This is a very strange Christian forum
Welcome to CF, malvina!

I like your posts.

Is this your first time dealing with those who don't believe as we do?

:help:This is a very strange Christian forum
that's because this particular area is for believers and non believers.
there are other areas that are strictly for believers.

in that regard, CF seems to accommodate everyone.

you also must remember we are talking science here, and scientists like their ducks in nice orderly explainable rows.

Sure, the authors of the bible knew some people just wouldn't buy the story and I wonder why?

You are in the area of the forum that allows non believers to post.

If that bothers you, you can stick to the Christian only sections.
If one has to stick to just one section in order to keep from thinking a site is strange, then that site is strange indeed.
