Cassidy, Allowing abortion to be legal for the mom eliminates the legal rights of the unborn. In United States, this is contrary to our constitution where “All men are created equal…”
More importantly, Abortion is contrary to Scripture:

"See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10 NIV)

Legalized abortion subjects not just the woman to judgment but all in society who make unjust laws:

Woe to those who make unjust laws,
to those who issue oppressive decrees,

to deprive the poor of their rights
and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people,
making widows their prey
and robbing the fatherless
. (Isaiah 10 NIV)

.
The “oppressed” in our society includes the unborn. How then can Christians justify legalized abortion?

Scripture gives no legal rights to the unborn.

Scripture gives no legal rights to the unborn.

The unborn have a right under God to live out their existence without interruption. What God sets in motion, we have no right to interrupt.

Only those who place themselves in the place of God will do and allow such a thing as abortion.

Scripture does give ordainment to life.

WannaWitness, Would you vote for an amendment to the state constitution that would ban abortion? The pro-life group Personhood successfully obtained enough signatures to place it on the Ballot in several states in time for the upcoming elections. In this way you are voting for something specific, not a politician.

Scripture may not, but the Didache explicitly forbids abortion.

The Didache is not accepted as scripture by most of the Christian church. Sorry about that.

Never thought of that before, but it's a good thing to consider. I'll have to watch for something like that to come up. :)

Please quote scripture to back up this opinion.

Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17
You shall not murder.

According to scripture we all have an appointed time for death, but it is not at the will of another. To suggest that it can be right to snuff out a life for convenience sake reveals a murderous disposition.

The “oppressed” in our society includes the unborn. How then can Christians justify legalized abortion?

Because if one doesn't then one oppresses another group which will then oppress the group we're trying to defend.

The unborn cannot have legal rights over the mother because this will cause more death and destruction. The message that women have no autonomy over their bodies is extremely dangerous and one that this society already has. To make abortion illegal will enforce this false notion. Women are already seen as objects with little or no rights over their bodies by 'men' which is substantiated by the inappropriate content, music, entertainment industry....and now you wish to enforce this view by giving the message that women have no legal rights over their bodies.

This will not only affect women who wish to abort but it will also affect women who wish to keep their babies....innocent women who have no desire to kill their babies. This is wrong!

A better solution is to save the mothers who wish to abort by bringing them to christ. I cannot stress this enough. This, in turn with not only save the babies but will also save the mothers and other mothers who don't wish to abort.

Defending women IS defending the unborn, for it is women who carry the unborn.

Please quote scripture to back up this opinion.

Thou shalt not kill! There is no other argument....good bye!

Not at all, if the command was 'Do not kill' then you have a point in using it in this context. But it isn't, it is a command not to murder and as murder is a term which refers to those killed illegally then your use of it here is on shaky ground.

Cassidy, The woman does not own the unborn baby, God does. Don't you see that point? Also, the unborn baby is not personal property, it is a living human being with equal rights to the mother. Finally, the unborn baby has no voice to defend themselves placing them at an extreme disadvantage. While the mom at least has a voice and is protected by the law.

Legalese doesn't fit here. It is supposed to be illegal, but in liberal, Godless cultures, the law reflects that--its godlessness and liberal values.

Your argument is moot.

Nope, not at all. Why do you think scripture calls on us not to murder rather than simply not to kill?
Kiwimac, "...You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel." (Matthew 23:24 NIV). Your play on semantics here does not hold up when referring to the unborn. It might make sense when referring to a just war or if someone has to kill someone in self defense. However, the unborn child is completely innocent deserving no harm.

Furthermore, "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." (John 21:25 NIV). Just as the blue prints for the space shuttle are not found in the bible.

The bible has laid down the foundation for us to live in God's perfect will. He has given us a mind and spirit to fill in the gaps and build from his Word, therefore; not everything will be found in Scripture alone.

His commandments clearly tell us it is wrong to take life unjustly. No form of rationalization can change this fact.

God with you.
