Then people shouldn't attack McCain when he was trying to save hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people from a potentially devestating situation.
Nobody does attack him for that. People do attack him for being particularly clueless, erratic, and ineffective in the way he did so, and for injecting presidential politics into delicate negotiations about issues he didn't understand on committees he was not a member of.
And nobody makes a big deal out of McCain taking time off either. He takes at least one day off each weekend, sometimes two. That was never the issue. Obama has worked most weekends, now he takes two days off because he has a sick grandmother and you want to turn it into political hay.
McCain's campaign will never try to turn this into political hay. It would be suicide.
