Jesus gave me hope, faith and love in the spirit although I have mental illness. That's what Jesus did for me, he gave me a sound mind in the midst of illness and he gave me his strength and a heart to do his will. He answered my prayers.

You're not wrong there, my friend. Trump does tend to dominate the news cycle, and too many democrats are focused on responding to him and complaining about him. I also wish that Congressional democrats would focus instead on trying to enact legislation to help working Americans and do what they were elected to do: govern. There's been far too little of that lately, from either party.

But that doesn't garner attention in the saturated media market, so even if it did happen, we probably wouldn't hear about it anyway.

What can I say? I'm a drama queen. I'm blaming God as He can get quite dramatic and hilarious in my dreams. I love it!

Anyway, not sure if this fits into this category, but I felt it is definitely a good read for this section. We'll see if it stays or lands elsewhere. Hope it puts a smile on your face.

That's pretty cool! I know a few people who went to CU for their advanced studies! Some even taught there! I won't say how I know them for privacy reasons, but I do admire the University.

Both. Creation for sure, never thought of it like that. But must be some miscommunication with the word evolution. I think of it as simply things changing over time, and things always change, that's a given. Even heavenly realms come and go changing with the times.

I don't know why or how people can say evolution isn't a real thing when it's simply things and people changing over time (And they DO!) people change alll the time. We are either moving more toward the spirit or flesh. Idk.

As bad as their statements were, the fact that they were using a hospital computer to perform an online chat during their work hours, that was not work related, would probably have got them suspended as well.

I regard anything inconsistent with the Nicene Creed as inconsistent with Scripture properly understood - to quote St. Vincent of Lerins, a Latin father from the early 5th century venerated in the Orthodox church, or was it St. Isidore of Seville, a Latin anti-Arian bishop who we also venerate who was involved in the early Mozarabic liturgy, that scripture is not in the reading but the interpretation. St. Vincent said that what has always been believed everywhere by everyone (meaning by the church whole) is properly called Catholic, which makes sense since the word Catholic in Greek literally means “According to the Whole” and not “Universal” as is commonly said.

Thus in Orthodoxy we regard ourselves as Catholic, and the Eastern Orthodox because of the historic connection with the Byzantine Empire, the surviving portion of the Roman Empire, identify as Romans - the persecuted Antiochian and other Arabic Orthodox Christians (and their Greek Catholic counterparts) in the Middle East and the Alexandrian Greeks who are not Copts, Maronites or Assyrians and Syriacs (Suroye) identify as Rum in Arabic from the Greek Romiioi meaning Roman, and are known as Melkites to the Oriental Orthodox, meaning “King’s Men” or “Emperor’s Men”, regardless of whether or not they are Antiochian Orthodox or Melkite Greek Catholic.

Thanks for posting this Michie. I'm in the UK. It's an extremely worrying Bill as the article you posted shows. My MP voted for it, but he said that he is open to hearing our views as the Bill progresses, so I plan to write to him again when it approaches the second vote. In the meantime I hope and pray that people from disability charities, medical experts etc. will provide sufficient evidence, during the committee stage, for many of the MPs who voted for it to change their minds. Liz Carr, mentioned in the article, has been a fantastic campaigner against it. Also I'm pleased that the article was in a national secular publication. I think most Christians are against the Bill, but this will reach others too and maybe cause them to lobby their MPs to vote against it.

Btw I saw your post on the OBOB forum about the Dutch considering Assisted Dying for the over 75s even if healthy! I couldn't post there as I'm not a Roman Catholic, but that is terrible. I'm 75 this year and the thought of it being legal to end my life is worrying. Back in my fifties I did want it to end, due to various circumstances, and I prayed that the Lord would take me. He didn't, however, but he brought me through the bad times to a much better situation. Psychiatrists say the when people are suffering mentally (and maybe physically) they think that it will always be like this. Usually it isn't. My life got better; so can others. So if anyone is reading this and does not want to go on living please seek help: from your doctor, from the Samaritans or other mental health charities and, most of all, from God. Things will get better.

A 12 year old Pakistani Christian girl was abducted from her home at gunpoint by three men who have threatened to sell her into sexual slavery her parents have said.

Ariha was abducted on January 20 by a 40 year-old neighbor and two accomplishes after they forced their way into the home.

Please pray for the safe return of these girls, and protection from those who want to abduct young girls.

So far the police have failed to find her.

The father, Masih, is concerned that his daughter could become a victim of sexual exploitation to forced conversion to Islam and involuntary marriage to a man three times her age.

Thank the Lord for the release from custody of two Christian converts from Islam, who have been held in an Egyptian prison for three years without trial, according to religious rights advocates.

Abdulbaqi and Nour were released on January 25. Both had been in pre-trial detention since 2021 on blasphemy charges.
