Sure. Rubio. He's gone way, WAY out of his way to become a Trump sycophant. Frankly, it's kind of impressive how much he's sacrificed his former principles. Normally anyone competent wouldn't be able to go along with all of Trump's nutty edicts or would have their own way of doing things that would conflict with Trump and would be out the door or under the bus within a year. For just about all other positions, Trump is going for incompetent yes-men like Hegseth.

We'll save some time and I'll tell you what you're going to invariably say. Which will be that you can't tell because there's no context. It might be me killing someone just for fun or me acting to protect myself. Please pay close attention to this next statement:

Absolute morality means that acts are wrong regardless of context.

But to tell me if I was being immoral or not you need the context. It therefore cannot be defined as absolute morality by the very definition of the term. So when it's me killing to protect myself, 'killing' is the act and 'to protect myself' is the context. Obviously a case of relative morality. Because the morality would change if the context changes. If we change that context to 'just for fun' then it becomes immoral.

The fact that we have a term for both of those acts, being 'murder' and 'self defence' doesn't change anything.

Is lying morally acceptable? Well most people would say it would be ok if it was to save the family in the basement. That is a classic case of relative morality. Now if we had a word for 'lying to save a family in the basement from the Gestapo' - let's say it's 'zeitblinter', then to then say that zeitblinter is always wrong, therefore is an example of absolute morality, is absolute nonsense. If explaining the situation in a few words is an example of relative morality then how in heaven's name does explaining the situation with one word change it to an example of absolute morality?

That's crazy town.

* shout this Big Lie so loud and wide and often across the land it incited an attempted insurrection on Jan 06,
* attack free speech and call any critical media article 'fake news',
* demand comedians get banned from their networks,
* reduce access to the Press Room for balanced objective media like Reuters,
* threaten NATO, threaten to let Putin do 'whatever the hxxx he wants',
* largely defund Ukraine trying to defend itself,
* embarrass America and what it stands for with that sulky tantrum with Zelenskyy in the Oval Office,

* whack illegal and vengeful tariffs on any nation he felt was 'unfair' (not understanding that buying cheap products was its own reward),
* appoint Hegseth as head of the military to fire any 'woke' Generals and Admirals who would not swear allegiance to their domestic political agenda,
* fire missiles on Venezuelan boats - whether they knew precisely who was in those boats or not,
* lie about Democrat cities being 'on fire' and 'looking like something from WW2.'
* illegally invade US cities with the National Guard!
* support Israel over the Palestinians for a disproportionately long time, enabling tens of thousands of deaths to occur under his watch,
* threatened to 'abolish' Palestine - as if Trump is the ultimate power in world affairs! He threatened to move ALL Palestinians out of Gaza into neighbouring countries, ignoring that Palestinian Muslims, Christians and Jews had lived peacefully together for 4 Centuries under the Ottoman Empire (1517 to 1917). (It just sounds so racist. Why not just say "They all look the same to me - so 'just' send them all over the place into neighbouring countries!")
* could only think of the Palestinian territory as one of his real estate cons, “the Riviera of the Middle East.” Forget all this international law stuff!

I too have served - in the Australian military for 4 years in Survey Corps.
So you support Hegseth, even though he:-

1. Politicized the military to be pro-MAGA?
He honestly sounded like he was recruiting the military to support one political party - not serve and protect the constitution of the country.

2. Changing Rules of Engagement?
America should NOT abandon the Geneva Convention and international law. These were hard won concepts from the 20th Century. If you do - there's no difference between you and Russia or ISIS.

3. Berated the entire military service in public?
Leaders encourage in public, discipline in private. It really sounds like Hegseth lost the plot!

America has the leadership they deserve.

It depends what you want to believe in... Christianity has become so fragmented. The religion at man's behest wants you to believe all sorts of things. Jesus on the other hand made it clear we were to first seek the Kingdom. That found and you will understand. And he said one thing we were to do besides the two commandment... spread His only gospel, the Gospel of the Kingdom. Jesus chastised the priests of the day for keeping it from the people and the same has carried on until today. Clear up the clutter and what to believe will become clear. Don't let the clutter pushers dissuade you. Its all about the Father and His Kingdom, NOT the world of man. It's not just about us, but about His battle with adversity since the beginning of creation, first in His realm, then here.

They come into churches which are sexist, misogynistic, hostile, or downright abusive; discern the problems, realise this has nothing to do with the gospel or the reign of God, find that they have very little scope to make any real difference, and walk away, the better to use their gifts and strengths to make a positive difference elsewhere.

Church isn't joining an exclusive country club. Jesus said church was built upon only truth from the Father, not some institution. Sounds like the concept of servitude has been lost. Besides, isn't the idea of church to bring in the unlearn-ed and bring them to God. Or is the idea these days to only accept status seekers like themselves? Perhaps church has become a gated community.
