  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As to the conditions, the ones Obama had people in in his detention centers in the top picture are worse than what the current administration has going...

Trumps detention centers are empty? I’m not sure what you’re comparing here.

Book Of Enoch And The Flat-earth

I don't think objective/subjective is a meaningful way to describe books.

Fiction, non-fiction, factual, allegorical, metaphorical seem reasonable to me. And as @BCP1928 said, if the book is unknown to me (that is, I didn't find it in a library already categorized for me), I don't know what it is until I read it.

As for fiction in the Bible, what are parables if not fiction? (I know there are some fringe people that think that the "sower" was actually some guy instead of a stand in for any agrarian, but really...)
I am not going to cover Bible apologetics here. If you don’t like the terms objective and subjective you could substitute the terms with literal and non literal. The point is that anything that you read you start with reading each word literally and then interpret whether the sentence, paragraph, chapter, or book had a literal or non literal meaning.

web"Displaced immigrant"

"The term "displaced immigrant" is not a standard legal or technical classification, as the concepts of "displacement" and "immigration" describe different motivations for moving. A displaced person is someone who has been forced to leave their home due to conflict, violence, persecution, or disaster, and this can occur either within their own country (internally displaced person, IDP) or across an international border. An immigrant, on the other hand, is someone who moves to a foreign country with the intention of settling there, typically for reasons like work, education, or family reunification, and not primarily because they are fleeing danger.
However, the term can be used to describe an individual who has been forcibly displaced and subsequently moves to another country to settle. This person might first be classified as an internally displaced person (IDP) if they remain within their home country, or as a refugee if they cross an international border and are recognized as such under international law. If they then decide to settle permanently in a new country, they may also be considered an immigrant. It is important to note that a displaced person who crosses an international border without permission or without applying for asylum may be considered an illegal immigrant."

He was for a time with Joseph and Mary when they fled to Egypt.
I doubt that they broke in illegally.

Trump: “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,”

This is wonderful. I would be just as happy if any president in office makes this decision. It is the best thing possible for the country. I want a God fearing president. If he truly becomes Christian it will be interesting to watch him become humble haha.
Please don't be fooled.
He's laughing all the way to the bank.

Or is that the stock market when he does a famous 90 day pause on tariffs? I think Wall Street have TACO wrong. It's not that Trump always chickens out, but that Trump always cashes out. That is he talks down the stock market by talking up his tariffs and threatening the world, and then gets a bunch of mates to place bets for him as he suddenly and mysteriously announces a 90-day reprieve. There were as some fairly suspicious same day trades the one time he did that.

I'm amazed that any of his supporters actually think he might be interested in any form of religion other than worshipping his own magnificence.

Illegal Immigration

And isn't God able to take care of the millions who came in illegally, presuming they are in real need, though some are criminals coming it, but isn't God able to meet their needs if they are legit right where they are or even in another country with less strict immigration laws?
What is important ?
Certainly God sends the rain and the sunshine for the unrighteous as well as for the righteous - He is no respecter of persons (few realize this).
Yet the criminals , legal or illegal, and even non-criminals (in man's view), have been causing great destruction (in the whole world, not only in the usa). THe massive influx and increase in idolatry (sin) in the usa is what we in the usa have seen , whether we approve of idolatry or sin or not. No known way to stop it nor to reverse it, per se. (humanly speaking! ..... God certainly can answer prayers for help to save us from the sin and temptations)

Book Of Enoch And The Flat-earth

How do you know?
Because 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 would not make any sense if the Bible was fiction.
So do many people who have favored a non-literal interpretation over the last couple of thousand years.
Yep which it why I qualified my statement with “in my opinion”.

Yay!!!!
Neither one. You have to read the book first.
Not really. Do you read the words literally or not?

6,000 Years?

If that was the case He would have said so. In that case He would have said the world was flooded, not just "land." There's no way to parse one's way out of accepting that God did not say the world was flooded.

Indeed. This is the kind of thing that we often see from KJV-only people. Neglecting what the words actually mean in Hebrew leads one astray.

You gave me your revision of His words. As you learned, God didn't say that the flood was worldwide. Instead of "the world" (tevel) He said "the land" (erets). You might not realize that "erets" means an area, like "erets Israel" (the land of Israel). But there it is. Instead of relying on your own wishes, why not just accept God's word?

Don't be a scoffer; listen to Him.
I gave you "THE WORD" not my words....and just as you said the flood covered all "the land".

As you should know that if you say there was a world wide flood - you are obviously just referring to the land of the world flooding.

God in his wisdom said the Land was flooding....not the world as we would say.

So you are correct...Noahs flood only flooded "the land" of the earth.

Don't be crabby - be smart.

Antisemitism all time high in UK

They can no longer be considered Eastern after the diaspora. Now they're multicultural, just like the United States, made up of immigrants from over 100 countries.

...If any two countries in the world should be supporting Israel, it's the United States and the United Kingdom.
The issue is not support, but uncritical support.

Illegal Immigration

The millions of illegal immigrants should be deported.
Yes they should!!
@BeckyJ question to ponder .... no answer required ...
Should all idolators be deported ?
(if they do not turn from their wicked ways and start to seek God)
(Many are already 'legal' citizens.)

Book Of Enoch And The Flat-earth

Because a fiction genre is not part of the Bible.
How do you know?
Subjective interpretations are valid such as God not having wings, etc. The creation story is not subjective in my opinion since I still believe that God is responsible for all of creation.
So do many people who have favored a non-literal interpretation over the last couple of thousand years.
Again, like any other book the text is interpreted based on context, the authors meaning, and literary structure. There are also literary devices to consider.
Correct.
When you read a book, do you start with an objective or subjective understanding?
Neither one. You have to read the book first.

The laws are already on the books. You pose an intriguing question. How do we address an Administration that is derelict in their duty to uphold the law, and protect the American people?
The law presented in the book involves multiple complexities. Refer to my post #5 for further details. The asylum law discussed adds additional layers to immigration law. Stating that the law is already established and should be followed does not take into account a thorough evaluation of all relevant laws.

Is the Rapture credible?

Premillennialism is a man made doctrine. A Millennium on earth is a man made doctrine. A rapture is merely Paul easing the minds of first century Christians on the subject of those who have died before them. Are they saved? He tells them they would rise first and those who are alive will join them in the air to meet Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Very poetic! But not meant to be a doctrine by any means.
Blessings
Well said, my sister in Christ!

NT Wright says marriage won’t exist in Heaven, but love will be transformed

Then will there be inequality of love in Heaven? Will the heavenly love between those who were married on earth be greater in any way that the general love among all in Heaven?

Will those who had few or even no love in the present time thus be eternally short on love in heaven compared to others who enjoyed many loves on earth?
I really don’t know. I assume in heaven, our love for one another will be perfected?
