  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

GOP, Democratic leaders react to Charlie Kirk shooting

Looks like you are trying to find a reason to make him a Republican.
Not all far-right people are republicans. You're assuming too much here. Robinson was registered as an independent, but apparently was attracted to the extremist Nick Fuentes, who BTW detested Charlie Kirk as too moderate.

The killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has reignited attention on a long-simmering feud within elements of the far right, particularly between Kirk and the so-called "Groyper" movement led by white nationalist Nick Fuentes.

Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 during an appearance at Utah Valley University. As authorities investigate the motive, online speculation has turned toward extremist factions that once targeted Kirk—specifically, Fuentes' "Groyper Army," which has long accused him of being insufficiently radical.

Despite his confrontational style, Kirk was frequently attacked from the right for being too moderate. During the 2019 "Groyper Wars," Fuentes' supporters disrupted Turning Point USA events, challenging Kirk on immigration and LGBTQ rights while labeling him a "gatekeeper" of establishment conservatism.

Now, as the public searches for answers in Kirk's assassination, that conflict within far-right is back in the spotlight—with renewed scrutiny on the rhetoric and influence of Fuentes and his followers.

Charlie Kirk shooting suspect Tyler Robinson could face firing squad

This will surely bring peace and closure to the Kirk family. Maybe they can televise it like Charlie wanted. Executing this 22 year old in an equally violent fashion may even bring our troubled country together. The solution of course is more violence.

Is it the voice of God?

.
Human expressions of truth, beauty, and goodness are always reflections of God's truth, beauty, and goodness.

Even simply pleasant sounds can evoke God's truth, beauty, and goodness. Every time I bow the open A string on my bass. I think " That is what the voice of God sounds like."

At least two students shot in active shooter situation at Evergreen High School

So you’re contending that the most violence occurs where the most people are? Sounds reasonable - more people, more violence.
So you admit that most violence happens in the inner cities.
But violence actually seems to be falling in the cities somehow, not rising. Most school shootings, for some reason, do not take place in the inner cities. That’s why your conflation seems a bit of a stretch.
Most violence happens mostly in the inner cities. Bigger picture.
Who is celebrated in our popular culture? Very often it is the one who solves problems with violence. There are occasional heroes such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, etc who glorify peaceful means but offhand I can’t think of any series or blockbuster movies that do, can you?
Yeah like the left who.celebrates the CEO murderer. Or school shooters who celebrate other school shooters. They aren't trying to emulate Jason Statham.
Is American culture evil? While a case can certainly be made, I don’t think so. I also don’t think the left is evil as too many here have argued nor do I think that the right is. But we can do better.
No I certainly do not think American culture is evil. But I think there are subject cultures that are. That radicalize people into believing violence is the answer or violence is justified.

No, the left isnt evil and neither is the right. But there are radical elements on each side that are. And from what Ive seen in regard to Kirk and the Catholic school shootings the left is sliding further towards the radical end of the spectrum.

Charlie Kirk shooting suspect Tyler Robinson could face firing squad

What also need to be factored in is that Utah currently holds the record for the fastest firing squad execution, from the time of conviction to sentence being carried out, of 5 months (the Gary Gilmore case)
Gary Gilmore wanted to be executed. He rejected all appeals.

With the death penalty comes the risk of executing innocent people. Not all cases are clear cut, and even those that appear obvious may not be. If just one person is found innocent after they've been put to death, that's too big a risk in my opinion.

Besides, shooters often take themselves out via self-inflicted gunshot. For all we know, he may want to go down in a blaze of gunfire. I say let him rot in a prison cell.

This is the scariest verse in the bible for believers

Do you mean they should all wander up the street and tap on shoulders ?
No, not at all. I’m not saying everyone should go out street preaching just like not all should be preachers. Each believer has their own sphere of influence, family, friends, colleagues, classmates, neighbours, and that’s where we can share the Gospel naturally.
The point is that wherever we are placed, we should look for opportunities to speak the good news in ways suited to our gifts and context. Evangelism doesn’t have to be dramatic or public; it just has to be faithfully told.

MS-13 Gang Member Kilmar Abrego Garcia to be Deported to African Country of Eswatini

I asked a question. Was Bondi lying? Or is she really letting him off a very serious crime.

If the answer is B, then can you tell us if you think other illegal immigrants will get the same consideration?
You presented a false dichotomy.

Liberal media accused of covering up Ukrainian girl's brutal murder in Dem-led city as video explodes online

Only a doctor's diagnosis can debunk it.
Rhat is such baloney. A dictors diagnosis can confirm or debunk something observed by others. But mental decline CAN be and is often observed way before a doctor gi especially an official diagnosis. If you dont think people can't see thar for themselves you don't live in the real world.

Time on death row is much harder than time in the general population. Even if he never gets executed, he'll suffer more for his crimes.

Maybe.

I remember watching a death row documentary before, and one person on death row said that there is an overclouding somber mood on deathrow. That anger and tension between deathrow inimates is diminished as a result. Prison for them is more of a reflective and soulful experience.

While not ideal compared to being a free man or woman, it sounds more peaceful than those in general prison.

I think it’s a YMMV kind of deal. For some it was harder, for others easier. McVeigh? Clearly easier. Others, not so much. I don’t really care if it’s easier or harder as the actual penalty is the execution. Jail is just the waiting room.
