  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To all who are in need...

I’m here for a chat. I’m not a robot nor some one who will advice you with specifics, as I’m not a professional therapist.
But I’m one of those people that have been told Im a great listener when there’s a need of opening up and vent. Rant. What ever it is.

Look for hope in a person who’s willing g to hear you out.

Doctors remove 3-inch parasitic worm from woman’s brain in world first

When a 64-year-old Australian woman was sent to hospital for brain surgery, neurosurgeon Dr. Hari Priya Bandi was not expecting to pull out a live 8-centimeter (3-inch) long parasitic roundworm that wriggled between her forceps...

Molecular tests confirmed it was Ophidascaris robertsi, a roundworm usually found in pythons, according to a press release from the Australian National University and the Canberra Hospital.

“To our knowledge, this is also the first case to involve the brain of any mammalian species, human or otherwise,” said Senanayake, who is also a professor at Australian National University.

She'd been sick for a couple of years. It began with abdominal pain, diarrhea, cough and fever. She later had depression and memory problems. Lucky for her, with proper neurosurgical care, she was able to worm her way out.

Pope Francis Calls Conservative Catholics “Backward.” Nice guy, huh?

The pope who calls it an “honor” to be criticized by Americans, is name calling conservative Catholics. This is not new. He’s called them “rigid” and “pharisees” among many other nasty things.

I grow tired of this kind of thing. The Church seems to be increasingly opposed to faithful Catholics, especially those who attend the TLM. Pope Francis seems to despise many Catholics who are the ones who attend Mass daily or even on Sundays. He seems to curry the favor of climate alarmists in the media and the United Nations.

The AP: Pope Francis has blasted the “backwardness” of some conservatives in the U.S. Catholic Church, saying they have replaced faith with ideology and that a correct understanding of Catholic doctrine allows for change over time.

Francis’ comments were an acknowledgment of the divisions in the U.S. Catholic Church, which has been split between progressives and conservatives who long found support in the doctrinaire papacies of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, particularly on issues of abortion and same-sex marriage.

Many conservatives have blasted Francis’ emphasis instead on social justice issues such as the environment and the poor, while also branding as heretical his opening to letting divorced and civilly remarried Catholics receive the sacraments.

Biden’s aliases intensify questions about corruption amid bank records and witness accounts

President Biden used at least three email aliases during his time as vice president in the Obama administration, a move that has ramped up congressional scrutiny of his involvement in his son’s foreign business deals.

White House records show that Mr. Biden used the name “Robert L. Peters” while serving as vice president. House investigators say Mr. Biden also disguised his name on emails using the pseudonyms “Robin Ware” and “JRB Ware,” a play on his middle name and initials paired with his home state of Delaware.

Mr. Biden has not explained why he used the aliases, but the tactic has raised the suspicions of House investigators who are probing the Biden family’s foreign business deals and how extensive a role Mr. Biden played in securing them while he was vice president and after leaving office

National Archives finds more than 5,000 emails including Biden's secret email addresses

A search of Biden’s vice presidential records found “approximately 5,138 email messages, 25 electronic files and 200 pages of potentially responsive records” for a Freedom of Information Act request filed last year in search of three email addresses Biden was known to use to conceal his name.
That's a lot of messages to conceal.

Are there rules regarding logging on to Christian Forums with a VPN?

Hello everyone. I have been using a VPN for quite some time now, and I've never had a problem before, but when I tried to check out Christian Forums a minute ago, with my VPN on, it said my IP address was banned. I honestly have no idea what's going on because I am certain that I haven't broken any rules, unless there is one that I'm not aware of. Are members of Christian Forums not allowed to access the website using a VPN or something?

MEDITATE ON GOD'S GLORY

Psalm 145

5 I[a] will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty,
And on Your wondrous works.5

This is an awesome Psalm and I just want to concentrate on this verse, although please read the rest of the psalm. I just wanted to pluck out this nugget and share it with you.
Recently I have been thinking a lot about the beauty of God. Have you ever thought about this?
God is beautiful... totally majestic.
My Favourite song is Oh Lord your beautiful by Keith Green and I just love to worship the Lord by singing that song. Please take a few minutes to meditate on the beauty of the Lord.
God is totally pure and Holy
There is no need for light in heaven... because the Father and the Son are the light of heaven.
God is glorious in holiness.
He is above anything we can ever imagine.
God our Father is the one True God. Meditate on Him and take time to think on what He is. So often we think of what He has done for us.
So often we spend time serving Him and do not spend enough time seeking and worshipping Him... we need to spend time with Him so we can serve others. Out of our relationship with Him comes our service
you know we have a beautiful world and we spend time admiring its beauty, but the beauty of the world is nothing to the beauty of God himself and what heaven is like.
Keith Green put it perfectly when he talked about heaven... he said compared to heaven, living here on earth was like living in a garbage can!
One day we shall be with our Father and Saviour, and we shall be lost in the radiance of their beauty... amen

Can't wait... can you?

PSALM 147
4 He determines the number of the stars;
he gives to all of them their names.
EVERY ONE HAS A NAME
I love verse 4 don't you?
We are still learning about how many stars there are and we are constantly finding new galaxies and then we seek to give them names.
One Being knows how many stars there are, and that is the One who placed all the stars in their orbits. God is the Creator of every star, and knows each one individually by name.
If he knows all the stars by name, He knows you by name also. If we read Psalm 139, we have these awesome words:
如果他通过名字了解所有星星,他也会通过名字了解你。如果我们阅读诗篇139章,我们会看到这些令人敬畏的话:
13 For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.[a]
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
15My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
God knows every star; He knows you by name. Isn't that wonderful!!!
God bless you

Ramaswamy doubles down on calling Pressley part of ‘modern KKK’

GOP presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy did not back down Sunday when questioned about comments he made during a campaign stop in Iowa Friday, calling Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) part of the “modern KKK.”

During his Friday appearance in Iowa, Ramaswamy accused Pressley, the first Black woman elected to represent Massachusetts in Congress, of racism and compared her to “modern grand wizards” of the Ku Klux Klan for comments she made in 2019, saying: “We don’t need any more Black faces that don’t want to be a Black voice.”

Conspiracy theorist spreads false information about the return of COVID-19 mandates

“BREAKING: Alex Jones says a TSA whistleblower has told him TSA employees were instructed on Tue that masks are coming back by October for travelers & full Covid restrictions/lockdowns by December due to a new ‘dangerous variant’ out of Canada,” read a tweet with the video, which had more than 38,000 likes and 20,000 shares on Thursday."

The claim originated on the Aug. 18 episode of “The Alex Jones Show,” where its namesake host said an anonymous “high-level manager in the TSA” and an unnamed “Border Patrol-connected” source told him about the alleged announcement. Jones is known for spreading conspiracy theories.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. No such announcement was made to TSA managers, an agency spokesperson told The Associated Press. A spokesperson for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which issued a now-expired travel mask mandate in 2021, confirmed that such rumors are “utterly false.”

Would you pursue and marry someone with chronic illness?

Hi there,
I've been dating a girl for a couple months that I've admired for many years. She is a kind soul, calm and very sweet. She's also very beautiful.

But as we've been dating and got to know each other, it's become clear that she has chronic fatigue from having covid a few years ago. It has only gotten worse as she got a demanding job after finishing her education as a caretaker for children. And I can't help but be a little worried.

My hope is that God will calm me, shows me a way, us a way perhaps, that her illness doesn't matter in the bigger picture. That he will answer me in some way.
I try to be honest and remember that I have my own short comings as well, and who knows what either of us could catch from life in the short or long run, cancer or something else.

My worries are about what a future together might look like. Would she be too tired for going on trips together? Would she have the energy for raising children?

Though, having children is not an absolute must for me. And my own introversion personality demands rest on my part as well. Perhaps I'm worrying about matters that could be solved, and maybe her illness of the fatigue she got isn't permanent after she gets some time off and rest. A doctor appointment has allowed 2 weeks off with an evaluation afterwards on her well being. Our Country's welfare system could give her paid months off for recovery if needed be.

She's also worried herself herself on her future, where she might fit in the future. I hope to talk comfort into her, especially with the hopes and reassurances that comes from God. But while on this earth, I wonder what might be the best for the two of us. If I can get past the doubts and fully commit into believing and imagining a future together.
After being with her, I think about her with a smile. But after a day or two, the doubts creeps in with the thoughts of that illness and what that might mean to us having a future together.

Would you consider dating someone with chronic illness? Why or why not? If you can talk sense into my situation I would be very grateful.
Thank you, and God bless

Sincerely
Mathias

Is water baptism a pre-requisite for receiving the Holy Spirit?

No, not exactly, Acts 10:
44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. 46For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, 47“Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.
People could receive the Holy Spirit before baptism.

Does receiving the Holy Spirit always accompany baptism?

No, Acts 8:
14 Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, 15 who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 for he had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.
Even after being baptized, there is no guarantee that the baptized person has received the Holy Spirit.

People could receive the Holy Spirit before baptism and people may not have received the Holy Spirit even after the baptism. There is no universal correlation between the two events.

On the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:
37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
If you are baptized, you will receive the Holy Spirit. It does not say that baptism is a pre-requisite for receiving the Holy Spirit: If you receive the Holy Spirit, you must have been baptized. In any case, this is a general rule of thumb. I would not put a precise timing on the 3 events.
39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

Is baptism a pre-requisite for receiving the Holy Spirit?

Strictly speaking, no.

The real reason Jesus healed people

So, my parents, are getting kinda old, and my father has beginning Alzheimers perhaps, the doctor suspected it, I think, but he won`t talk about it, but my parents have had some dementia for a while, normal for people when they get older, but I`ve noticed something, when they get excited by something, or interested, in something, the dementia is less, or almost gone also, so I had this theory for a while that dementia is really just loss of interest in things, when we live in a society which all surroundings are articifial, and not like when we lived in nature, and people do the same everyday also, you can start to lose interest, like losing interest in that way that you slowly decade, most people just get bored from it all, but some, decade, like a process of losing interest until you die, but my point was, I think the reason people thought Jesus could heal, was because he sparked people`s interest again, like a dement person would gain interest again because there finally was something happening, and you know, when you feel good and motivated, your other health issues would be less also, the soul heals the body, so sometimes when my parents look at me, with a little dementia, they are suddenly normal again, and that comes from my being, the person that I am, I`m not the biggest person, but I spark some interest because of everything I do,

the real cure for dementia, and other health issuses, lies in us all I think, to make the world not so boring

Poll shows Biden viewed as too old to ‘effectively serve’ another term

President Joseph R. Biden is too old to “effectively serve” another four-year term, according to a new poll.

The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll found more than three-quarters of adults surveyed, or 77%, believe Mr. Biden, 80, is too old to run for reelection.

Challenge: Is Evolution REALLY a theory in crisis?

This is a claim I've seen bandied around more times than once; that evolution is a 'theory in crisis'.

And yet not one person I've seen make that claim is able to actually say how or why it's in crisis.

So, this is my challenge: show me how and/or why the theory of evolution is a 'theory in crisis'?

If you say it's not, don't comment saying it's not, since that's not need for this thread.
