Dem*ns mentioned by name in the Bible? [writing research]

I was inspired by someone to, perhaps, write a novel based in Christian theology, but with a more modern action theme. So I thought I would write about someone fighting the influence of Evil in a dystopian city, Evil in this case being one or more dem*ns manipulating the will of humans. I have been looking for a day or two, but I am having a hard time finding truly canonical mentions of specific dem*ns in scripture, apart from Old Lou himself. What passages mention one or more dem*ns by name, perhaps also describing their nefarious influences?

Definite evidence Biden to blame for method of removing paint scratches found to be ineffective, expert claims in stinging rebuke to American Prez.

“The acidic nature of Diet Coke can erode the protective layers of the paint, leading to further deterioration over time. Additionally, talcum powder does not possess the necessary properties to effectively fill or conceal scratches, and its application may result in uneven textures or discolouration."

How to handle and not judge my sister.

If one studies the characteristics of people with narcissistic personality disorder, as can be found on YouTube, and other places online, there would be an exact description of my sister.

She takes sadistic delight in trying to get people upset. There are no family members who have anything to do with her, except me. And I’m only hanging in there because I’m a Christian. She plays idiotic four year old mind games, just to be annoying. She lies pathologically. She gaslights.

I have minimal, but generally civil, interaction with her, while knowing that she is always going to be trying to find someway to make me feel bad.

I need divine guidance and grace to know how to interact with her without letting her hurt me.

Trump is prepared to betray America's allies

Donald Trump has said he would "encourage" Russia to attack any Nato member that fails to pay its bills as part of the Western military alliance.

The implications of this declaration are profound. In an apparently casual way he has asserted that as president he would abandon his allies, indeed, take sides against them with Russia.

This has the potential to destroy the trust Nato allies have in their strongest partner and will do serious damage to all America's alliances round the world.

Is it OK to defund or not fund evil politics and otherwise ?

Well of course, many would say not to buy into evil, but also of course it happens intentionally, accidentally, not knowingly, or no other reasonable choice given your at the moment circumstances to meet life's needs. It is also said love the sinner, hate the sin. How do you respond to these situations?

* Not donating to a political campaign because you don't agree with the candidate's politics.

* Sure you need to pay the IRS taxes what is due Ceaser, but you don't use nor pay user fees at national parks, or anything else with a user fee like a museum.

* With local school politics you don't morally agree with left side indoctrination of children in your locality. Got to pay taxes again, and due to money and time constraints, your kids go to the public schools. However, you can choose not to fund sports activities, attend drama events, or go to adult education classes, so not funding the school budget in that way.

* In other local county, town, or city politics, not use and paying per trip on public buses, not paying the grocery bag tax enriching some local government coffers, and not use public pools or recreational facilities with user fees.

* In shopping avoiding the modern versions of so called adult bookstore of yesteryear. En mass it had an effect last summer, the mass merchandise retailer selling transgender swimwear, and the nationwide drink company with a TV advertising model person which did not sit well with the working class and others which the company saw their sales plummet. Or if right down the street from you, a store of a national grocer based in San Francisco with higher prices, the city with a higher cost of living area having a liberal lifestyle, so you go into the store buying only or mostly items on sale so not to profit them.

* Do you hire for your landscaping and other manual labor jobs paying people hanging out outside the 7-11?

* Though Jesus and God calls to help the truly down and out, but what if you know giving charitably, you are funding bad behavior. Once came out of a Christian concert inside a city at night, when also a friend with me, a guy is yelling $4.29 which we figured out was the going price for a non sober drink then. Or you give food and money to a local food pantry knowing the demographics of their client base, and then you see the same people, some from South of the Border, having loud and lavish parties with a DJ and putting off fireworks in one or more local neighborhoods where they live, at least mentally disturbing other neighbors there.

Several examples here above. Other ones to discuss and debate?

USA groundwater reserves being depleted at alarming rate

The USA is racing towards a water crisis. All across the country, groundwater reserves are being depleted at a dangerous rate, the New York Times has revealed. The impact of their depletion could be disastrous for the America and for global food supply.
An investigation found that 45 per cent of the more than 80,000 groundwater wells surveyed across the nation showed a statistically significant decline in water levels since 1940. Four in ten of the wells have hit record-low levels in the past decade.
Don Cline, the associate director for water resources at the United States Geological Survey, said: ‘There is no way to get that [groundwater] back. There’s almost no way to convey how important it is.’

Lotus Flower

This probably will sound like a stupid question but it’s been bothering me. I find lotus flowers kind of pretty and have now, and have had in the past, a picture of one on my fb page. Since Buddhists or Hindus or whatever religion uses them as a symbol, is it a sin to have one on my page? I don’t do yoga anymore but I did once, years ago, when it was offered at of all places, my parish.

This is My Comfort

“Remember your word to your servant,
in which you have made me hope.
This is my comfort in my affliction,
that your promise gives me life.
The insolent utterly deride me,
but I do not turn away from your law.
When I think of your rules from of old,
I take comfort, O Lord.
Hot indignation seizes me because of the wicked,
who forsake your law.
Your statutes have been my songs
in the house of my sojourning.
I remember your name in the night, O Lord,
and keep your law.
This blessing has fallen to me,
that I have kept your precepts.” (Psalms 119:49-56 ESV)

Who are the insolent? They are the rude and the disrespectful, but not by anyone’s standards, for according to various cultures these words can take on different meanings. For what may be considered rude in your culture may not be the same as in my culture. So we have to be very careful here that we do not assign blame to people when it is just our own culture which is dictating what is rude or not rude, or what is disrespectful and what is not. And so we have to look to the Scriptures to guide us in this.

So, I looked up the word in the Hebrew interlinear and it defines insolent as “presumptuous, arrogant, proud.” And it appears that it is often used in the context of those who are wicked, godless, rebellious, haughty, and in opposition to the Lord. So the insolent, in this context, are those who are of self-importance, who are snooty, conceited, egotistical and full of pride. This is speaking of those who have an overly high opinion of themselves and who are vain and who think of others as not worthy of or as less than them.

Okay, so the psalmist is calling out to the Lord in prayer, asking for the Lord to remember his word to him, for he was the Lord’s servant. So he was calling on the Lord to recall his promises to his servant, for the Lord’s promises to him are that which gave him hope and life. But let me add a word of caution here, for there are many professers of faith in Jesus Christ today who are claiming the promises of God over their own lives, but without acknowledging that all of God’s promises also have conditions to be met.

Therefore, not all of God’s promises to the body of Christ, his church, apply to everyone who says to him, “Lord, Lord.” For not all who profess faith in Jesus Christ truly know Christ, because not all of them are obeying our Lord and his commandments, in practice, and not all are living morally pure and godly and upright lives in Christ Jesus for the glory and praise of God, as a matter of life course. For many are giving lip service to the Lord but they are not walking in his ways, but they are still living according to the flesh.

So, if you are going to call upon the Lord in prayer, asking him to remember his promises to you, then please make sure that those promises truly apply to you. For not everyone who says to Jesus, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING the will of God the Father who is in heaven. And not everyone who claims to be in fellowship with the Lord is truly in fellowship with God, not if they are still walking in sin. For it is not what we claim that matters to God, but it is what we do, in practice.

[Matthew 7:21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 1:12-13; John 6:44; Romans 2:6-8; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; Romans 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10,19-20; 2 Corinthians 5:15; Galatians 5:16-21; Galatians 6:7-8; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 10:23-31; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Jn 1:5-10; 1 Jn 2:3-6; 1 Jn 3:4-10]

But if we are those who truly have been crucified with Christ in death to sin, and who have been raised with him to walk in newness of life in him, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness, no longer as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness, and so we are denying self, and dying to sin daily, and walking in obedience to our Lord, in practice, and no longer in sin, then we are those who can rightfully claim the promises of God which he has given to those who truly belong to him.

And we will be the people of God who are walking in his ways and in his truth, who are sharing the truth of the gospel with others, and who should also be refuting the lies of the enemy. And so we will have people who will come against us, even others who profess faith in Jesus Christ. And we should also be the people of God who feel what he feels and who grieve over others who are still walking in sin and according to the flesh, and who are not walking according to the Spirit, even though they profess to know Jesus.

And we should be those who hold true to the word of God and who continue in walks of faithful obedience to him, regardless of what other people do, and regardless of how other people treat us. And we should be those who hate sin like God hates sin, too. But we should know and be prepared for the reality that if we walk in the ways of the Lord and in righteousness and holiness, and if we are those who are spreading the good news of the gospel, in truth, we are going to be opposed. But we can depend upon the Lord and his promises to us, regardless of all we are having to endure.

Give Thanks

By Don Moen / Henry Smith

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us"

We give thanks to You oh Lord
We give thanks

Ohio Sheriff Sounds the Alarm After Meeting with FBI, Orders Every Cruiser to Carry an AR-15 and Extra Ammo

“It’s not if they are going to attack, it’s just when they are.”

That’s what Ohio’s Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said after attending the National Sheriffs’ Association Conference in Washington, D.C, held Feb. 3-6, according to the Journal-News. At the conference, FBI officials warned sheriffs from across the country about imminent terrorist attacks on the U.S.
“There are people already here who have come to this country who hate us and want to kill us,” Jones warned. He’s on a mission to make sure his department is prepared.

Lines of attack, he said he was told, will be through cyber attacks, crippling power grids, train derailments and cells of armed terrorists who target multiple areas of the country. Cyber attacks already have happened, including one that affected the BCSO in 2020 when the dispatch center was crippled. The sheriff’s office is “getting five cyber hack attempts a day by the Chinese, three times a day by the Iranians, and we got hacked two years ago by the Russians,” Jones said. “And that is not just us. I assume they are doing that all over the country.” Jones said the Chinese have the U.S. outnumbered 50 to 1 in people working on cyber attacks and prevention.
“Their deal is to cause us disruption in our county. To cause chaos in our country, not like next week — now. From the red flags and chatter that they (FBI) are hearing,” he said. Jones said the FBI also said people have come across the border to “do harm to us … that they have never seen it this bad.” Thousands of people are working to disrupt the country, including national and local elections, he said. “They told us we need to be prepared to talk to local county election people to be prepared,” Jones said. “They want us to lose faith in our government.”
He said big cities will not just be the target, terrorists also will hit in smaller cities and rural areas where people typically feel safe.
“The terrorists are here, we have already been told that, from 160 countries that want to do us harm,” Jones said. “We have been told by the FBI that they are here and it is just a matter of time before they attack.”

How to evangelize to the LGBT community or couples

Hi,

Just want to discuss this, how to evangelize a LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) couple. If have never evangelize to this group, but would be interesting to talk about this.
We all know this to be a sin, but maybe we should just show them love first, not that we agree with their lifestyle, but we should think like this, love them, respect them, don't try to convince them yet that their lifestyle is a sin and that God is not ok with it, love them first. Sometimes there are reasons why they are in LGBT relationship, sometimes it is because of abuse. If it is abuse and we confront them to early that they are wrong and should change without first showing love, it will backfire, they will actually get repelled by your behavior. Love them first, slowly with guidance of the Holy Spirit convince them that their lifestyle is a sin.

So I listened to a testimony of a girl, she experienced domestic abuse when young age, not that she got raped, but her father harmed her mother, but not so that she would die, but he did slap her or something I guess. So that propably turned her Lesbian propably, she saw how a man harmed her mother.

Donald Trump says he would encourage Russia to attack Nato allies who pay too little

Seeking a second presidency as the Republicans’ presumptive 2024 White House nominee, Donald Trump has said he would “encourage” Russia to attack any of the US’s Nato allies whom he considers to have not met their financial obligations.

Trump told European leaders that US ‘will never come to help you’

On Saturday, Trump claimed that during an unspecified Nato meeting he told a fellow head of state that the US under his leadership would not defend any countries who were “delinquent”.

“One of the presidents of a big country stood up and said, ‘Well, sir, if we don’t pay, and we’re attacked by Russia, will you protect us?’” Trump said, adding “I said, ‘You didn’t pay, you’re delinquent?’”

“No, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bills.”

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates, asked about Trump’s comments, said, “encouraging invasions of our closest allies by murderous regimes is appalling and unhinged – and it endangers American national security, global stability and our economy at home.”

Aggressive Trump Critic Michael Rapaport Admits 'I Was Wrong,' Makes 'Shocking Conversion'

It’s amazing how, bit-by-bit, facts are dawning on people.
Yesterday’s unshakeable truths — vaccines/lockdowns/masks good, 2020 election fair, Biden a bit slow but the best choice — are all disintegrating in real time.

Public policymaker response to COVID was a joke, election corruption is undeniable and the president’s news conference performance this week sealed the deal in a lot of minds that Biden cannot go on as president.
And then there’s the whole idea that Donald Trump as president was the worst thing to have ever happened to America.
Some have changed their minds on that. Big-time.

As in none other than actor/comedian Michael Rapaport who, despite vicious rants against Trump, now says he’s considering voting for him.
“There was no Trump critic who was more vicious or profane,” Rebel News publisher and Canadian conservative activist Ezra Levant tweeted of Michael Rapaport.
“This is the most shocking conversion I’ve ever seen,” Levant wrote.
In his tweet, Levant included a portion of the Thursday PBD podcast, in which co-host Adam Sosnick discussed with Rapaport the possibility of voting for Trump.
“At the end of the day,” Sosnick said, addressing Rapaport, “I’m a reasonable person. So like you said initially — I think I’m gonna consider this.”
“I’m considering it,” Rapaport responded. “But to pull that lever [to vote for Trump] — we don’t pull levers anymore — to actually pull that lever (pause) I’m gonna tell you right now, I won’t vote! I’m not voting for Biden, I’m not voting for Kamala.”
Quizzed by PBD co-hosts, Rapaport said among Democrats there was no one to vote for.

9 year old boy without gender dysphoria “transitioned” contrary to father’s wishes

This scenario is precisely what i have been warning about considering the recent legislative zeal to facilitate trans-sexual perversion under the nonsensical pretense of it being the only viable treatment for the severe mental illness of gender illness, which this poor boy was not even informed of.

Rather, in this case it appears that a “gender therapist” (as opposed to a normal pediatrician) engineered this with the boy’s mother for some perverse reason. Christian ethics forbid me from speculation as precisely why the mother is doing this. However, there are several pathological motives one can think of for why a person might want to subject a child to such a trauma, including, perhaps, a sexual perversion on their part, or a desire for attention (some kind of Munchhausen-by-proxy, a dreadful illness which is otherwise regarded when acted upon as child abuse, but in this case in a state under control of the far left such as New York, it could happen that such an illness is tolerated in the specific context it results in gender reassignment due to the seeming interest of some politicians in increasing the instances of such reassignments as a sign of social progress), or it could be due to a desire to have a child of the opposite sex, or in the case of a single parent due to a divorce, perhaps the parent is overwhelmed of the issues that arise in parenting, by themselves on those days when they have custody, a child of the opposite sex, perhaps revolted by the unanticipated aspects of caring for a child of the opposite sex, or indeed perhaps a parent might, as a result of a particularly traumatic divorce, develop a general loathing for the opposite sex or a specific loathing for their former spouse which is transferred to the child owing to, perhaps, similarities in appearance as well as mannerisms resulting from the influence of the other parent on the developing child, or it could be many other things, none of which constitute a legitimate reason to begin secretly “transitioning’ a child from their natural sex to an assumed “gender identity.”

I would note that the only scenario where sexual assignment might have validity in a pediatric perspective from the perspective of traditional Christian sexual ethics would be in the case of a child born as an hermaphrodite, or with other ambiguities in their reproductive anatomy which might interfere with both urological and reproductive functionality. Historically there was no means of providing care in the cases of such deformities, but ironically, our contemporary society in many cases would insist that we tolerate such deformity and not seek to provide medical care, because persons suffering with such a condition are the “I” in the LGBTQIA+ continuum (I shudder to think what all might be included under the “plus” character, the use of which can also be regarded as a not very subtle jab against Christianity, since it is the case that Christian bishops and archbishops from various denominations that have an episcopal polity and hierarchy, such as the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox, Catholic, Assyrian and Anglican churches, will add one or more + symbols to their name, as crosses, to indicate episcopal rank, and the symbol is also used in the case of the deceased particularly when the Latin cross typographical symbol † is unavailable.

At any rate, this incident should serve as a reminder of the importance for traditional Christian denominations to immediately not only sever communion with, but place under an anathema, those individuals and organizations which are seeking to actively interfere with, or legally and ecclesiastically preclude the preservation of traditional Christian ethics concerning sexual behavior. This is being accomplished both through changes in the law, changes in the doctrine of churches, and an effort to cause Christians to regard the problematic practice of conversion therapy* as being not just a medical failure but a religious disaster so severe as to be considered an arch-heresy.

It is imperative that individuals and entities that seek to promote trans-sexual gender transitions in this manner be subject to excommunication for promotion of castration, which is something that would run afould of several ancient church canons.

Additionally, any man who willfully has themselves castrated (as opposed to being castrated due to medical necessity or against their will) becomes ineligible for ordination to any office under Canon I of the Council of Nicaea, the same council that upheld the doctrine of the Holy Trinity, on the basis that to intentionally destroy ones’ reproductive capability was viewed by the Nicene Fathers as being an act of self-murder. This obviously would apply to individuals who as an adult have undergone sex-change operations, but in the case of youths, the various exceptions to the canon would protect this boy and protect his ability to potentially become a member of clergy later in life even if he is deprived of his male reproductive anatomy (something which has not yet happened).

This young boy urgently requires our prayer, and cases like this underscore the importance of our community working together to resist what is becoming increasingly severe persecution of traditional Christians over this issue and other issues related to absurd idea that persons suffering from a sexual perversion ought to be encouraged to continue in their perverse state rather than called to repentence.

@Michie if you have not already alerted our Catholic friends in OBOB such as @chevyontheriver to this issue I reckon you might want to.

*This in in its current form appears, based on the data which has been presented to us, and assuming the reliability of such data, to do more harm than good, although I do feel that scientists should at least be allowed to continue to research the subject to seek improvements, since I believe that homosexuals who want to become straight should have access to a medically proven means of doing so, which of course transition therapy in its current form is not)

Finding out if she is available before asking her out

Should a Christian man pursuing a woman in a Biblically way, find out about her being single (not dating, boyfriend or fiancee/husband-assuming no ring is visible on the left ring finger) by asking her friends/coworkers/others who know her well before he asks her out so as to not have to go through unnecessary rejection and awkardness if she is not available or should he just risk unncessary rejection by asking her out without finding out her status beforehand?

New guy

Born and raised in Alabama to a pastor and a homemaker. Have the call to become a minister and will be working on my credentials after my Army contract is completed.

Looking forward to connecting with others who share the same faith and learn about those different from mine.

For my boss…

She’s under a lot of personal stress right now. Last weekend she was arrested for hitting her ex boyfriend. She’s currently being charged with a level 6 (lowest felony in Indiana) felony for domestic battery with a minor present (her 14 year old daughter called). Her daughter has been having a lot of trouble herself (she’s cutting herself and more). We are praying that because she’s never been in trouble before that she can get it reduced to a misdemeanor or just get probation. Please pray for her!

NJ Democrat Commits Mail-In Voter Fraud

Now, if you're thinking "wow...it sure took a while to find this voter fraud" you're correct. It did.

Why? Because at a glance... it appears no voter fraud occurred. Registered voters voted through mail in ballots....as I'm sure everyone knows is legal and easy....but in this case, voters who were registered but had no intentions of voting were identified by the defendant, and votes were then cast by the defendant's organization in the names of these registered voters.

In other words....this is in many ways the exact sort of mail-in ballot harvesting scheme that Republicans have alleged happens all too often, ever since the 2020 election. The only way to be certain this isn't happening more often would be to call each and every mail-in voter and receive their verification of voting and whom they voted for. In this case, it appears voters were bribed for their votes....so it's unclear if they would honestly admit to being part of an election fraud scheme.

Republicans have been trying to fix this obvious legal loophole by demanding in person voting. Democrats have of course, attempted to not only prevent any attempts at stopping this sort of voter fraud from succeeding....they attempted to pass legislation early in the Biden administration that would have made voter fraud easier.

Feel free to discuss, but leave out the longtime racist trope of black people being unable to acquire proper ID unless you can provide some empirical data to prove this is true.

The big hello

I guess that says the main stuff. Hi. Hello. How are you? G'day, mate? I am clearly not used to doing this whole online thing, but I thought I would give it a shot. My name is Harry, I live in Scandinavia, where I was a teacher until I retired a few years back. I live in the countryside with some animals and like the quiet life, not really one of those big online extroverts, as you may have guessed. Matters of faith are a big deal to me but not the source of big drama or worries, I take things a day at a time and see what bounty I may or may not find. Lots of hobbies, the most commonly practiced being repairs to the (ooooold) house and taking care of the animals. I mainly joined because some youngsters in my circle of family and friends started asking some questions that made my mind wander, and I thought this might be a place to talk about those things. People here are not very religious, or spiritual, so it is hard getting a good talk going on the matter. Hope to find someone here that can fill my head with good, creative thoughts!

Wish you blessings!

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

I use the term evolution biologically and technically. It describes the process by which populations of organisms change over time through successive generations. It is driven by natural selection, genetic drift, mutation, and gene flow.

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

Sure, but you don't have to. You can assume evolution without believing in it. Let's talk about the utility of the theory of Evolution.

I am a Christian. I used the evolution model to implement AI programs. They are called evolutionary algorithms. You don't have to believe in evolution to work with it. If you search US patents in the last ten years, you will find many applications of evolution models. The theory of evolution has practical values. The US economy benefits from it. You cannot deny its utility.

Unlike other branches of hard science, evolution has less mathematical support. Nevertheless, it is a useful paradigm.

The Cheating Cell: How Evolution Helps Us Understand and Treat Cancer

If the theory works in daily practical life, there is no need to reject it. There is no need to believe in it either in the sense of spiritual faith.

Riddle me THIS one...

A Texas man was putting Cyrux (an abortion inducing drug) into his wife's drink to induce an abortion which (as far as I can tell, she did NOT want to have done).

Man accused of putting abortion-inducing drug in wife's water takes deal, to serve 180 days in jail
180 days he gets. Mom wanted the baby. She was WILLING to keep and raise the baby. She was willing to ALLOW HER BODY TO BE USED TO GROW THIS BABY; despite the tumultuousness of her situation. Her and her circumstance are like the POSTER CHILD for the pro-life movement.

But, she ALSO doesn't get what she wants when her husband does this.

A DOCTOR who would be performing an abortion AT the patient's REQUEST....can receive a life time in prison.

Please convince me these rules are not really just rules in place to control women. It's not even a matter of consistency; this ruling just appears to make it blatant. And I'm sure the judge in this case ruled as harshly as he saw fit. Isn't it nice that they were willing to negotiate a plea deal with this.....man.

Turn From Your Life Of Sin - Devotional Saturday

You're probably familiar with the story of the woman caught in adultery and about "you who are without sin cast the first stone." On today's devotional we'll see about when people will quote this verse and some interesting takes on this whole passage.
