  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When You Lose Interest In A Series You Once Liked

Not new episodes of series you like, but when you revisit an episode you once did. I was a Star Trek fan from when the original episodes first aired. Tonight I found one of my favorite TOS episodes on, The Trouble with Tribbles. I watched it and didn't enjoy it that much. There were mildly amusing moments, such as Spock declaring himself immune to the trilling effect of tribbles, all while he was stroking one (and this was noticed by his shipmates), and Kirk's dressing down of Scotty for the brawl. But...I didn't enjoy it. This is was an episode that never failed to delight, until now. Obviously it's myself that changed, not the episode.

Has this happened to you? Have you gone back to an episode of a series or a film that you once liked, but now find it kind of "meh?"

The government shutdown and keeping the government open, or re-opening it, etc. My prediction now.

Im an Independent, first of all, and try to give a 100% neutral, obejective opinion always about these things, and am going to try to give you my prediction right now about this specific subject/thing, etc.

The government shutdown and keeping the government open, or re-opening it, etc. My prediction now.

While it might have been to the Democrats advantage at first politically to not cooperate with the Republicans to keep the government open, I now predict that is now going to change, and very, very soon here, or really, really soon actually, it's no longer going to be their political advantage anymore, and they are actually going to start to lose points now politically, and are going to start to get blamed.

And that's it, or is all I have to say right now really, etc. And so it will now be to their political advantage now to start cooperating with Republicans on re-opening the government now, or keeping the government open now actually, etc.

Guess we'll have to see if my prediction holds true or not actually, etc.

Opinions change when actual Americans start feeling it actually, etc.

God Bless.

My Public Library Card

I guess I have bad luck with printers. They seem to have a working life span of about six months for me. I own four of them, and none of them work, so I drive to the nearby library a couple of times a year when I need to print or copy something.

Many years ago, my local public library went high tech. It used to have a copy machine where if I needed to make a paper copy, I put a dime in the slot and pushed "Copy". It was blissfully easy. Now to make a copy or print from online, I have to set the new machine up by pushing a bunch of icons I don't understand and have to ask for human help with, but worse, I have to enter my password and my user ID. The user ID they gave me is 14 numerals long. That represents tens of trillions, which I think is just shy of the number of stars in the observable universe, or at any rate, a good deal larger than the population of my city.

I asked some AI why the number needs to be so long, and it gave me strange answers with contradictions in it. Anyway, this is just a rant. I hate the modern world. I still love the library, though. :)

175th Anniversary - England restoration RC Church

In fellowship...

"Last month marked the 175th anniversary of the legal restoration of the Catholic Church in 1850. Pope Pius IX issued the papal bull Universalis Ecclesiae, restoring the Catholic hierarchy in England and Wales and creating 13 new dioceses."

"Earlier this year, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales published figures revealing that mass attendance in 2023 — the most recent statistics available — grew from 503,000 in 2022 to 555,000.

Figures released for the number of adults completing the rite of Christian initiation for adults have indicated a significant rise. For example, the Southwark Archdiocese noted a 164% increase in new Catholics during 2024 compared to the previous year. Westminster recorded receiving 500 new entrants, most of whom are new converts. Many of these new Catholics are in their twenties and thirties."

Weekly Devotional: Finding Grace in Fragile Seasons

Week 1

Encamped in the Shelter of the Most High

Opening Prayer – Week 1

Lord, as I enter this quiet space, I come beneath Your wings—seeking refuge, comfort, and peace. Encamp me in Your presence and let Your Word be a balm to my soul. May Your promises in Psalm 91 awaken trust within me, and may Your nearness calm every storm. I surrender this time to You, believing that You are my shelter and my strength. Amen.

Devotional Message

To be encamped in the shelter of the Most High is to live surrounded by divine presence, even when life feels uncertain or fragile. Psalm 91 reveals a God who commands angels to guard us, who responds to love with deliverance, and who satisfies us with eternal promises. His protection is not passive—it is personal, active, and all-encompassing. In every season, whether we feel strong or weary, seen or forgotten, God is near. He hears our cries, knows our name, and walks with us through every valley. This is not a distant hope—it is a present reality. We are not alone. We are encamped by Heaven.

Psalm 91:11 NKJV
“For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”

Meaning This verse reveals the unseen realm of God’s care. His angels are not distant or decorative—they are assigned to guard, guide, and protect. The phrase “in all your ways” speaks to the totality of life: every step, every season, every sorrow. It is a promise of divine oversight and spiritual companionship.

Application Trust that you are never walking alone. Whether you’re navigating grief, illness, or daily responsibilities, God’s angels are present. You may not see them, but their presence is real. Reflect on moments where you’ve been spared, comforted, or strengthened—these may be glimpses of angelic intervention. Let this verse remind you that Heaven is actively involved in your journey.

Psalm 91:14–15 NKJV “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him…”

Meaning These verses reveal the intimacy God desires. To “set your love” upon Him is to choose Him above all else. Knowing His name means knowing His character, His mercy, His justice, His faithfulness. God responds to love with deliverance and to relationship with elevation. This is not a distant deity—it is a personal Father who answers when called.

Application Cultivate a love for God that is intentional and personal. This isn’t about performance, it’s about presence. When you call on Him, He promises to answer. Let this be your assurance: your prayers are heard, your love is seen, and your relationship with Him is honored. In seasons of silence, this promise becomes a lifeline.

Psalm 91:16 NKJV “With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”

Meaning This verse is God’s final promise in the psalm—a declaration of satisfaction and eternal assurance. “Long life” may speak to earthly years, but it also points to spiritual fullness and eternal life. To be shown His salvation is to be invited into His presence forever.

Application Let this verse be comforting when life feels uncertain or brief. God’s definition of satisfaction is not limited to time—it includes peace, purpose, and eternal reunion. For those who dwell in Him, life is not measured only in years, but in grace and glory.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for meeting me here. Thank You for Your angels who guard me, Your love that delivers me, and Your voice that calls me by name. As I rise from this sacred moment, let Your truth remain—You are with me, You are for me, and I am encamped by Heaven. May I walk forward in peace, knowing I am never alone.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

Trump White House Defends Misleading DHS Propaganda Because They Are ‘Engaging Content and Banger Memes'

The Post identified at least six DHS-produced videos over the last three months that misrepresented where and when scenes were filmed. The most striking example was an August montage touting DHS’s supposed success in securing Washington, D.C. It featured dramatic clips of federal agents battling what one official called a “battle for the soul of our nation,” but the footage was neither recent nor from the nation’s capital. Instead, significant portions were shot months earlier in Los Angeles, West Palm Beach, and even off the coast of Nantucket, roughly 400 miles from Washington.

The investigation found a broader pattern of deceptive editing. In one case, footage promoted as showing “Antifa terrorists” attacking federal facilities in Portland was actually filmed outside an ICE building in Broadview, Illinois — 1,700 miles away.

A DHS spokesperson did not dispute the inaccuracies. The White House also declined to offer corrections; instead, spokesperson Abigail Jackson said the administration would continue highlighting its successes via “engaging content and banger memes,” the Post reported.

Eddie Perez, a former Twitter civic integrity leader, said the administration was behaving like “filmmakers” focused on emotional manipulation rather than truth, calling the trend “the collapse of government accountability through communication based on facts.”

Misleading propaganda is now officially what we can expect from the administration. Truth takes a backseat to 'narrative'.

Also, these are not serious people.

Refuting Losing Salvation!

Galatians 5:4 “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” “Whosoever” is not a confirmation but a supposition, thus it can be, it’s as if you have fallen from grace. These Galatians were attempting to be saved by the Law and Christianity. From what Paul said it can be seen that these Galatians had not fully decided to continue this error, mixing the Law with Christianity, which is impossible (Gal 5:10). It’s obvious they were more vulnerable than the other Galatians. Although they were still saved (but ignorant), it should also be realized that Christianity and the Law were new to all the Galatians, and they were also obviously susceptible to the knowledge of the Law. “Who did hinder you from obeying the truth?” The disobedience to the truth was, again, that they were trying to mix law with grace, which I believe they finally understood the impossibility of, from Paul showing them truth. “Should not obey the truth” is less convicting than “did not obey the truth.” “Should not” is not confirmative as “did not.” (NC)

Albert Barnes: Gal 5:4 “Ye are fallen from grace" "This passage does not prove that anyone who has ever been a true Christian has fallen away. The fair interpretation of the passage does not demand that. Its simple and obvious meaning is, that if a man who has been a professed Christian should be justified by his own conformity to the Law, and adopt that mode of justification, then that would amount to a rejection of the mode of salvation by Christ, and would be a renouncing of the plan of justification by grace. The two systems cannot be united. The adoption of the one is, in fact, a rejection of the other. Christ will be “a whole Savior,” or none. This passage, therefore cannot be adduced to prove that any true Christian has in fact fallen away from grace, unless it proves also that man may be justified by the deeds of the Law, contrary to the repeated declarations of Paul himself. The word “grace” here, does not mean grace in the sense of personal religion, it means the “system” of salvation by grace, in contradistinction from that by merit or by works."

Albert Barnes: Heb 6:6 “If they shall fall away . . .” “That is, this would amount to apostasy from the religion of the Redeemer, and would be in fact a rejection of the grace of the gospel. That this had ever in fact occurred among true Christians the apostle does not affirm unless he affirmed that people can in fact be justified by the Law, since he makes the falling from grace a consequence of that. But did Paul mean to teach that? Did he mean to affirm that any man in fact had been, or could be justified by his own obedience to the Law? Let his own writings answer; see, especially, Romans 3:20. But unless he held that, then this passage does not prove that anyone who has ever been a true Christian has fallen away.

“It is not an affirmation that any had actually fallen away, or that in fact they would do it; but the statement is, that “on the supposition that they had fallen away,” it would be impossible to renew them again (it would require re-sacrificing the Lord Jesus, an impossibility—NC). It is the same as supposing a case which in fact might never occur: as if we should say, “had a man fallen down a precipice it would be impossible to save him,” or “had the child fallen into the stream he would certainly have been drowned.” But though this literally means, “having fallen away,” yet the sense in the connection in which it stands is not improperly expressed by our common translation. The Syriac has given a version which is remarkable, not as a correct translation, but as showing what was the prevailing belief in the time in which it was made, (probably the first or second century), in regard to the doctrine of the perseverance of the saints. “For it is impossible that they who have been baptized, and who have tasted the gift which is from heaven, and have received the spirit of holiness, and have tasted the good word of God, and the power of the coming age, should again sin, so that they should be renewed again to repentance, and again crucify the Son of God and put him to ignominy.

“Here it means undoubtedly to “apostatize from” (apostates were never saved—NC) and implies an entire renunciation of Christianity, or a going back to a state of Judaism, paganism, or sin. The Greek word occurs nowhere else in the New Testament. It is material to remark here that the apostle does not say that any true Christian ever had fallen away. He makes a statement of what would occur on the supposition that such a thing should happen - but a statement may be made of what would occur on the supposition that a certain thing should take place, and yet it be morally certain that the event never would happen. It would be easy to suppose what would happen if the ocean should overflow a continent, or if the sun should cease to rise, and still there be entire certainty that such an event never would occur.

“To renew them again” - Implying that they had been before renewed, or had been true Christians. The word “again” - πάλιν palin - supposes this; and this passage, therefore, confirms the considerations suggested above, showing that they were true Christians who were referred to. They had once repented, but it would be impossible to bring them to this state “again.” This declaration of course is to be read in connection with the first clause of Hebrews 6:4, “It is impossible to renew again to repentance those who once were true Christians should they fall away.” I know of no declaration more unambiguous than this. It is a positive declaration. It is not that it would be very difficult to do it; or that it would be impossible for man to do it, though it might be done by God; it is an unequivocal and absolute declaration that it would be utterly impracticable that it should be done by anyone, or by any means; and this, I have no doubt, is the meaning of the apostle. Should a Christian fall from grace, he “must perish,” he never could be saved.

“They crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh . . .” “It means that such an act of apostasy would be equivalent to crucifying him in an aggravated manner. Of course this is to be taken “figuratively.” It could not be literally true that they could thus crucify the Redeemer (again, impossible to re-crucify Christ—NC). “The meaning is, that their conduct would be “as if” they had crucified him; it would bear a strong resemblance to the act by which the Lord Jesus was publicly rejected and condemned to die. The act of crucifying the Son of God was the great crime which out-peers any other deed of human guilt. Yet the apostle says that should they who had been true Christians fall away and reject him, they would be guilty of a similar crime. It would be a public and solemn act of rejecting him. It would show that if they had been there they would have joined in the cry “crucify him, crucify him.”

Albert Barnes: 2Pe 2:22—“The sow that was washed . . . “This proverb is not found in the Old Testament, but it was common in the Rabbinical writings, and is found in the Greek classics. See Wetstein, in loc. Its meaning is plain, and of the truth of what is affirmed no one can have any doubt. No matter how clean the swine is made by washing, this would not prevent it, in the slightest degree, from rolling in filth again. It will act out its real nature. So it is with the sinner. No external reformation will certainly prevent his returning to his former habits; and when he does return, we can only say that he is acting according to his real nature - a nature which has never been changed, any more than the nature of the dog or the swine. On the characteristics of the persons referred to in this chapter, 2 Peter 2:9-19, see the introduction, Section 3.

“This passage is often quoted to prove “the possibility of falling from grace, and from a very high degree of it too.” But it is one of the last passages in the Bible that should be adduced to prove that doctrine. The true point of this passage is to show that the persons referred to never “were changed;” that whatever external reformation might have occurred, their nature remained the same; and that when they apostatized from their outward profession, they merely acted out their nature, and showed that in fact there had been “no” real change. This passage will prove - that there are abundant facts to confirm - that persons may reform externally, and then return again to their former corrupt habits; it can never be made to prove that one true Christian will fall away and perish. It will also prove that we should rely on no mere external reformation, no outward cleansing, as certain evidence of piety. Thousands who have been externally reformed have ultimately shown that they had no religion, and there is nothing in mere outward reformation that can suit us for heaven. God looks upon the heart; and it is only the religion that has its seat there, that can secure our final salvation.”

Albert Barnes: Heb 10:26 “For if we sin willfully,....]” “Which is not to be understood of a single act of sin, but rather of a course of sinning; nor of sins of infirmity through temptation, or even of grosser acts of sin, but of voluntary ones; and not of all voluntary ones, or in which the will is engaged and concerned, but of such which are done on set purpose, resolutely and obstinately; and not of immoral practices, but of corrupt principles, and acting according to them; it intends a total apostasy from the truth, against light and evidence, joined with obstinacy.

“After that we have received the knowledge of the truth;” “Either of Jesus Christ, or of the Scriptures, or of the Gospel, or of some particular doctrine, especially the principal one, salvation by Christ; of which there may be a notional knowledge, when there is no experimental knowledge; and which is received not into the heart, but into the head: and whereas the apostle speaks in the first person plural, we, this is used not so much with regard to himself, but others; that so what he delivered might come with greater weight upon them, and be more readily received by them; when they observed he entertained no hard thoughts or jealousies of them, which would greatly distress the minds of those that were truly gracious. Moreover, the apostles use this way of speaking, when they do not design themselves at all, but others, under the same visible profession of religion, and who belonged to the same community of believers; see 1 Peter 4:3 compared with Acts 22:3. Besides, these words are only hypothetical, and do not prove that true believers could, or should, or do sin in this manner: to which may be added, that true believers are manifestly distinguished from these persons, Hebrews 10:38.”

Albert Barnes - Heb 10:39. “But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition,....”. There is a drawing back which is not unto perdition; persons may be attended with much unbelief, may be very cold and indifferent to Gospel ordinances, may fall into great sins, and may greatly backslide, and yet be recovered, as David, Peter, and others: and there is a drawing back to perdition; when Christ is rejected as the alone Saviour; when he is not held to as the head; when false doctrines and damnable heresies are given into; and when men draw back, and never return, nor are they, nor can they be returned, and their apostasy is total, and final: but true believers do not, and cannot draw back in this sense; because they are held fast in the arms, and with the cords of everlasting love, are chosen of God unto salvation, are given unto Christ, and secured in him; they are redeemed and purchased by him; they are united to him, and built upon him; they are interested in his prayers and preparations, and are his jewels, and his portion; they are regenerated, sanctified, inhabited, and sealed by the Spirit of God, and have the promises and power of God, on their side.”

Is purgatory a Biblical or extra biblical teaching?

Can it be clearly seen in Scripture or is it just something 'alluded' to, but not contextually supported.

For simplicity sake, can I humbly ask that extemporaneous writings and history be minimized (please don't write 1,000 words) and Scripture be emphasized.

Let's start with one verse at a time, discuss the verse contextually and then go to the next - just a suggestion.

HHS fires top official who was critical of mRNA vaccines; they claim he misrepresented himself, he claims there's a coup against RFK Jr in the works

The Trump administration over the weekend fired Steven Hatfill, a senior adviser to the administration who opposed the COVID-19 vaccines and promoted the use of hydroxychloroquine during the pandemic.

A senior department official for HHS told The New York Times that Hatfill was fired for misrepresenting himself as “chief medical officer for the assistant secretary for preparedness and response.”

Hatfill told the Times, however, that he was ousted as part of “a coup to overthrow” HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., being carried out by Kennedy’s chief of staff Matt Buckham. He claimed he was fired after refusing to resign.

Roblox, Discord sued after 13-year-old girl dies by suicide

A new lawsuit alleges that Roblox and Discord are culpable in failing to protect a 13-year-old girl who died by suicide.

The lawsuit filed last week in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, Covington Division, by Jaimee Seitz, claims that the apps Discord and Roblox were responsible for her daughter Audree Heine's suicide.

The complaint maintains that Heine was pushed to suicide by "an online community dedicated to glorifying violence and emulating notorious mass shooters, a community that can thrive and prey upon young children like Audree only because of Defendants' egregiously tortious conduct."

The Trump Crypto Scam

The U.S. president’s family raked in more than $800 million from sales of crypto assets in the first half of 2025 alone, a Reuters examination found, on top of potentially billions more in unrealized “on paper” gains. Much of that cash has come from foreign sources...

DUBAI - Eric Trump was in Dubai on family business. Meeting with a Chinese businessman and his associates on the sidelines of a cryptocurrency conference in May this year, the son of U.S. President Donald J. Trump ran through his usual talking points about the inefficiency of traditional banks and his own famous father’s run-ins with financiers.

Then came the pitch. Buy at least $20 million of “governance tokens” in the Trump family’s crypto business, World Liberty Financial, and become part of a venture that Eric Trump predicted would soon embody the future of finance in America...

In the first half of this year, the Trump Organization’s income soared 17-fold to $864 million from $51 million a year earlier, according to Reuters calculations based on the president’s official disclosures, property records, financial records released in court cases, crypto trade information and other sources. Of the first-half total, $802 million – more than 90% – came from Trump crypto ventures, including sales of World Liberty tokens.

That $864 million payday represents actual income – cash flowing, free and clear, into Trump family coffers. Reuters’ calculations were reviewed by half a dozen crypto and real estate experts and a certified accountant who has studied the U.S. Internal Revenue Service’s approach to crypto.

“These people are not pouring money into coffers of the Trump family because of the brothers’ acumen. They are doing it because they want freedom from legal constraints and impunity that only the president can deliver.”
-- Kathleen Clark, law professor at Washington University

"B-b-but Trump's not taking a salary!"

Isn't this what they falsely accused Biden of doing? Though as we all know, Biden never took a single dollar, while Trump's taken nearly a billion (so far).

Open Doors Highlights And Prayer Points Nov-Dec 2025

1. Please pray for the verdict of what happened to abducted pastor Raymond Koh, due 5 November in Indonesia. Amazingly, Susanna Koh is still thanking God and thinking of how Raymond's case can be used for God's glory.

2. Believe it or not in some areas and communities in Mexico Christians face persecution. Ten year old Alissa had her pet dog poisoned, while poisoned the dog licked Alissa's sister, sending her to hospital. Alissa's former best friend is no longer friends with her due to Alissa's faith and all of her classmates bully her.

3. We learn of another child Robin from Bangladesh- at his village and at school he is blanked and simply known as 'The Christian'. His mum came to faith first, then her husband had a false conversion, then Robin came to Christ.

Robin and his family had fellowship at a local house church but one day a mob came to destroy it, thankfully all the brothers and sisters in Christ were warned in advance and managed to avoid the mob but the building was destroyed.

Jubayer (Robin's dad) obviously had a false conversion as he went with his own parents and tried to force Robin and his mum Moly to leave Christ- they would not so Jubayer divorced Moly and Jubayer refuses to provide them with financial help.

It was very moving to read how Moly encourages her son Robin with Bible stories and how at Christmas they gather at an event where Robin can play with other Christian children who know what he is going through and Moly can talk to other brothers and sisters in Christ.

4. I did a post awhile back on Jorina from Bangladesh - despite all she has been through she has a passion to serve other persecuted sisters in Christ. Hear her quote "If we live, we should live for the Lord. If we die, let it be for the glory of the Lord."

5. I mentioned pastor Yang from Myanmar and once again his family were displaced but now he has made the bold decision to return to the place he was displaced from to serve other believers. What a shepherds heart.

6. In the lead up to Open Doors IDOP event remember the words of our sister in Christ Khada from Afghanistan- "In a world that often forgets us, just knowing that someone, somewhere, is praying with a bright heart for us means that we are seen".

7. Dayang from the Southern Phillipines is yet another child that suffers for her faith in Christ- no other student at school will sit next to her, she is mocked for her prayers and on a recent afternoon she was injured by fellow students after they threw rocks at her. It was moving how Dayang's mother strengthens her in her faith in Christ.

IDOP: 2 reasons why we must pray for persecuted Christians

Every year when the International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians (IDOP) approaches, I’m reminded that this isn’t just another date on the church calendar. It’s a chance to join hands and hearts with our Christian brothers and sisters who are suffering for their faith.

Praying for them is not a symbolic gesture. It is a source of real strength. This month I spent time with Christians in South Asia who have been imprisoned, beaten or stood beside the bodies of murdered loved ones because they follow Christ. I’ve done this work for 27 years, and when I’ve asked how we, American believers, can help these members of our family, their first request is simple and consistent: “Pray for us.”

1. Because Scripture commands us to

Asbury University pres. praying campus revival was mere tremor ahead of global Christian awakening

SEOUL, South Korea — Kevin Brown, president of Asbury University, says his prayer is that in five to 10 years, Christians will look back on the Asbury revival as a tremor that preceded a global Christian awakening.

In February 2023, what seemed like a “routine chapel service” turned into a 16-day revival that drew 50,000 people from across the world to the tiny town of Wilmore, Kentucky, among them students from 287 different universities, Brown told delegates gathered on the second day of the World Evangelical Alliance’s General Assembly.

“But in the time since the outpouring, my prayer has been that in five, seven, 10 years, we would look back on what we saw in February of 2023 and say that it was nothing. That the outpouring would be seen as a mere tremor preceding an earthquake of holy Christian awakening across our globe,” Brown said, describing it as the most incredible experience of his lifetime.

Zeal for Your House

The house of the Lord is the temple of God, which is the body of Christ, which is comprised of those who have trusted in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of their lives. It is not a building, and it is not a human organization, nor a church denomination, nor is it a not-for-profit corporation of (union, merger with) the federal government of the USA, or of any other country.

[Matthew 21:12-13; John 2:13-17; Acts 5:27-32; 1 Corinthians 1:10-13; 1 Corinthians 3:1-9; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Philippians 3:18-19; Revelation 2:1-29; Revelation 3:1-22; Revelation 13:5-8; Revelation 18:1-5]

The church is a living organism with Christ as her head. And the sanctuary of God is within the lives of Christ’s followers. God does not dwell in buildings built by human hands. Thus, when we enter into a building called “church,” we are NOT entering God’s house nor have we suddenly walked into the presence of God, because God’s presence lives within us who obey him, and he is always with us. And we, the people of God, are the Lord’s house.

So, if zeal for the Lord’s house consumes us, it means that passion and fervor for Christ and for his church, his body, so fills up our lives to where we are fully engaged (involved) and committed to the Lord’s service and to ministering to the needs of his body, the people of God. And we are committed to serving and to ministering to and exhorting and encouraging one another in our walks of faith and in obedience to our Lord in holy living.

It also means that we are fully involved and committed to our personal relationships with Christ, to our times of personal worship with him, to dying to sin, and to obedience to his commands. We are fully dedicated to walking in the Spirit, and not according to the flesh, and to allowing the Lord to use us in other people’s lives according to his will and purposes for our lives.

As well, it means that we feel what God feels, we hate what he hates, and what he loves we love. We weep over all the junk that is presently going on in the world and in the worldly church in the name of God, and in the name of Jesus Christ. So, we expose these fruitless deeds of darkness so that other believers are not led astray to what is false. And we pray for revival!

Zeal for Your House

Zeal for Your house, it consumes me.
Lord, I love my times with You.
I love to worship You and sing Your praises.
Time in Your Word brings me closer to You,
List’ning to You speaking to me,
Gently guiding me in truth.

Lord, You are my life’s example,
Showing me how I should live.
I love to walk with You where’er You lead me.
No greater joy have I when serving You.
Loving, giving, resting in Your strength,
I’m yielding to Your will.

Zeal for Your house, it consumes me.
See the church turned upside down:
Marketing ventures taking place of worship,
Men of the gospel turning into clowns.
Gospel message made appealing,
So the world will feel at home.

Lord, we need a great revival.
Turn their hearts, Lord, back to You.
Open the blind eyes, turn them all from darkness,
Lord, to the light. May they return to You,
Turn from their sin, forsake idols,
Be restored to God again.

Hypocritical Love is Not Love

“Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.” (Romans 12:9-11 NASB1995)

What kind of love is this speaking of here? It’s a love which centers in moral preference, which prefers what God prefers. And God prefers all that is holy, righteous, godly, morally pure, upright, honest, and faithful. So should we who are Jesus’ followers. And it’s a love which shows benevolence (concern, compassion, kindness) for one another, and for one another’s needs. So, when we love with this agape love, we will not deliberately and habitually sin against one another, but we will do for others what is for their good.

So, what does hypocritical love look like? Well, it is not love at all – not in the eyes of God and according to the Scriptures. It is words spoken but not in truth, and not followed up with actions which speak love, but often with actions which speak the opposite of love. It is like a man or a woman who is married who tells their spouse that they love them only to turn right around and do the exact opposite of what love is. A primary example of this is if one spouse is living in adultery against the other spouse, while professing love.

Another way this can be hypocritical love is if one person professing love to another leads that other person into sin deliberately, and for the sole purpose to get that other person to fail morally and spiritually, because it brings them pleasure to see the other person fail. And yes, there are people like this, even people professing faith in Jesus Christ, who get pleasure and enjoyment out of seeing others fall into sin. And the Bible talks about the punishment of those who lead others into sin, too (Matthew 18:6-7).

But do you know that is what many pastors and preachers of the word of God are doing to you when they feed you lies which give you the impression that your sins no longer matter to God once you “believe” in Jesus, and so you are free to keep sinning without feeling guilty about your sin, since you believe all your sins are forgiven and heaven is guaranteed you upon death? For any pastor/preacher, who willfully omits God’s biblical requirements for us to put sin to death and to walk in obedience to God, is doing that.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

So, it is not okay with God if after we make a profession of faith in Jesus Christ that we go right on sinning against him deliberately and habitually, especially without conscience and without true remorse. However, this does not mean we will never sin/fail (1 John 2:1-2), for we are still human beings, mere clay in the Potter’s (God’s) hands, being conformed to the likeness of character of Jesus Christ, which is a life-long process of sanctification, if, in fact, that is where we are spiritually, and that is actually taking place.

For we are to be children of God who have died with Christ to sin, and who are abhorring what is evil, and who are clinging to what is good, as God terms “good.” And we are not to be selfish people who think only of ourselves and what gives us pleasure, without regard for how our actions impact those we claim to love. But in love we are to give preference to one another in honor, but never in giving preference to what is evil and to what might destroy them morally and spiritually, if we teach them lies.

For, if our faith in Jesus Christ is genuine biblical faith, it will result in us dying to sin and walking in obedience to our Lord, in practice, by the grace of God and in the power of God. And our desire will be for the Lord, to do what pleases him, in service to him and to his will and purpose for our lives. And this doesn’t mean that we are going to get everything right all the time, but we should keep pressing forward in the strength and wisdom of God, in following our Lord, and in doing what he says, in living for him every day.

Oh, to Be Like Thee, Blessed Redeemer

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, 1897
Music by W. J. Kirkpatrick, 1897

Oh, to be like Thee! blessèd Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Oh, to be like Thee! full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wandering sinner to find.

O to be like Thee! lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer others to save.

O to be like Thee! while I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and Heaven above.

Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee,
Blessèd Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

Praise God for my spiritual growth

I had a very scary day yesterday which involved a trip to the ER. On the way there, I prayed for my earlthy survival ONLY if it were God's will and, if it were not, to please save my soul and thanked Him for everything He'd give me in my time here. I prayed my husband would find Him after I was gone and for my child to do the same.

I thanked Him, when I came through, not because I lived (as that must have been His will) but for allowing me to understand that life on Earth is not as important as life with Him. There was a time I would have panicked and begged to continue life here. I surrendered all and asked him to do as He would but please remember me when it was my time.

I feel so much better for having gone through that transformation.

Praise God.

I think I know what they mean by craving alcohol.

Hi, you may think that you can't develop a craving simply by sipping alcohol but I think that even with the little sip of wine after Communion, I'm developing a craving for that wine. When I go up to the person with the Chalice, and take a sip, I want to drink more than what I'm supposed to, and yet I don't even like the taste of wine per se. I kind of wish I never started sipping the wine, because the sting of it is imprinted in my system. I don't remember when I first started taking the wine after Communion. It is not offered at every parish.

But wait you may tell me that it is the Blood of Christ, not the wine anymore -- ok then, I don't know what to say :sigh:

ps I am NOT making this thread to debate anything about hygienic reasons. That is NOT the purpose of my thread...please.

I have taken the wine (blood of Christ) after Communion because frankly, it dissipates the aftertaste of the Eucharist IMHO and I like to do that.

EI/Atlas: Comet Or Alien Mothership?

And: Why Institutions Are Hemorrhaging Legitimacy; Scott Alexander's Antichrist

So, what do you know about 3I/Atlas? It is a large interstellar object detected by astronomers this summer. They think it’s a comet — but Harvard’s Avi Loeb thinks it could be an alien spaceship. He’s an excitable one, that Avid.

But the story has taken an interesting turn in the past few days. Here is a quiet announcement from two days ago: the activation of the International Asteroid Warning Network, around 3I/Atlas. The idea is that all the world’s astronomers need to get ready to focus entirely on this comet that is behaving in ways never observed with comets. Nobody knows why.

Some people believe the warning is an attempt by authorities to control the narrative around this weird object. This is interesting:

With Some G.O.P. Backing, Senate Votes to End Trump’s Brazil Tariffs

The Senate on Tuesday voted to terminate the 50 percent tariffs that President Trump has imposed on Brazil, with a handful of Republicans crossing party lines to help push through a measure rejecting the emergency declaration used to justify them.
While the resolution faces long odds in the House, where Republicans have taken extraordinary steps to make it more difficult to bring up such measures, the vote signaled bipartisan frustration with the president’s tariffs on most goods from Brazil, a country with which the United States has a multibillion-dollar trade surplus.
The resolution is one of three that Democrats have planned to bring up for a vote this week to challenge Mr. Trump’s moves to circumvent Congress and wage a trade war that many lawmakers are concerned will harm their constituents. Votes are expected in the next few days on tariffs the president imposed on Canada and a global tariff rate on more than 100 trading partners. .......
Senator Tim Kaine, Democrat of Virginia and the lead sponsor of the measures, said the votes are as much about the president’s overreach of power as they are about the economic impact of his sweeping tariffs.
“Are we just going to allow the trade power which is handed to Congress, or the war power which is handed to Congress, or the appropriations power which is handed to Congress, or the nominations advice and consent power which is handed to the Senate — are we just going to allow those powers to be taken over by this president or any president?” Mr. Kaine said.
The Senate is waking up. Perhaps they are listening to their constituents, and noting Trump's poor polling numbers.
