  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Protesters storm Home 2 Suites in Minneapolis, one Federal officer injured

Video of peaceful Minneapolis protesters from last night:

Mayor Frey has made the decision that visiting law enforcement will not get the same police protection as everyone else.

First Amendment doesn’t protect protests that disrupt church services, civil liberties org. says

In the aftermath of last Sunday's storming of Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, a nonpartisan civil liberties group says that the First Amendment does not protect protesters who interrupt church services, refuting claims made by political commentator Don Lemon.

In a post written by one of its board members, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, which specializes in First Amendment cases and represents clients from a wide range of backgrounds and political beliefs, stressed that houses of worship are not public forums and that entering a church to disrupt a service is not a protected form of protest.

Being made a Godfather

I met a girl from the Philippines online a while back. We have been talking for about a month and a half, and have been getting along well. But we aren't engaged, and have never even talked about getting married. We haven't even met in person.

But the other day she told me that her niece is being christened, and said she could make me a Godfather if I wanted. I wasn't sure what to say, so I just kind of expressed my doubts that it would be possible since I'm a protestant and didn't say much more about it. Today she told me that the date for the christening had been changed to tomorrow, and that she had signed me up as a Godfather.

I'm not sure what to do. I never met the baby or the parents. I never agreed to being a Godfather, she just put me on a list. Can you do that?

Anyway, what should I do? Should I protest and ask to be removed from the list? Should I say nothing and not worry about it since I never agreed to anything anyway? I don't mind praying now and then for a child I never met, or even sending her a Christmas present, but I don't want to commit to being a mentor or a second father for someone's child that I don't even know and may never meet. In my church we usually don't have godparents, so I don't know the full implications.

Church usher, former NYPD sergeant dies while shoveling snow for congregation

Family and friends of retired New York Police Department Sergeant Roger McGovern are in mourning after he died Sunday while shoveling snow at the Our Lady of Victory church in Floral Park, New York, where he served as an usher. He was 60.

Our Lady of Victory Church could not immediately provide details on McGovern’s passing when contacted by The Christian Post on Monday, but a News 12 report citing the NYPD said he died while shoveling snow at the church.

In a public statement on Facebook, however, McGovern’s cousin, Brendan McGovern, said he suffered a heart attack on his way to shovel snow.

Furious!!!!

I am furious!!
My aunty ( who raised me) and who is 80 years old reprimanded me on the phone for being confidant about my appearance!
She is of the old school where women feel the need to shrink in order to be acceptable.

What I am more furious about is that I rely on her for chats at midnight.( She lives abroad.)
Without her I am even more isolated than I already am and lack good connections.

My pastor has said to me that old people like her are obstinate and think they know it all.
I need to find a way to have enough connection in my life so I dont need to speak to her.
She invariably invalidates me and then I have nowhere to process this frustration.

I am sure she doesn't do this with her own children.
Why us it that when someone is kind, open and empathic people think they can take liberties and thrust their ( outdated) opinions down other peoples throats?

I dare not confront her on this because she is so stubborn and hard headed she will just escalate it.
A common tactic she uses is to raise her voice when things are not to her liking.

Honestly I am more angry with myself than her for continually subjecting myself to her rude, dismissive behaviour.

I'd you want to pray, feel free.I would prefer your insights more though.
Why are mother daughter relationships so often so fraught?
It is pure vexation!

My mother-in-law's salvation and healing from her narcissism

So my brother in law has a mother named Debbie. When he married my older sister, she became part of our family through his marriage.

Unfortunately, she has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. She is not a very good person at all and I will tell you why.

You see, when my brother in law was a kid, his mother and his father were both drug addicts and they sold illegal drugs on the street. They even tried to get him to do it, but he was just a kid! He was raised in a bad household where his parents neglected him and told him that his birth "was a mistake." What a thing to say to a child! How dare they be so unloving! :dead:

So he had a bad childhood. His mother never cooked anything for him, he had to fend for himself and make his own meals. You might say he grew up really fast.

About Debbie: She had been taking illegal drugs for so many years (which just fueled her drug addiction like fire and she refused to go to rehab) that unfortunately it caught up with her. She finally became paralyzed on the left side of her body and had to be admitted to the hospital. That was several years ago. She is living with a caretaker nowadays. But her drug addiction fried her brain (ouch!) and that is how she got her personality disorder. Today she is both a cruel and very selfish person, who always talks about "how great she is" and puts her son down all the time. It's quite toxic.

This is why she so desperately needs salvation. She has lived like the Devil her whole life, and now I am seeking God to bring her into his light and clean up her ways.

I don't talk or interact with my mother in law, I've actually never even met her. But from what my brother-in-law tells us about his mother and his upbringing, I can see she is not a good person and she did not raise him with love and care, like I feel every mother should do with their children...

It makes me sad hearing stories like this, that kids were raised by parents who didn't love them or abused them in some way. I had the exact opposite childhood that my brother in law did: it was a very good childhood. I had loving parents and a lot of playtime. I have fond memories of my childhood. It was great. :) And now I am just sad that he didn't have the same happy experience I had growing up. Why is the world so unfair like that?

Are People a Mix?

A mixture of both good and bad? Depending on how you define "good" and "bad" that is.

I like to think that we all have some good in us, just in different amounts. I also like to think we have bad in us as well, or the ability to do things that are wrong. Something people call a "dark side."

Everyone has done at least 1 thing wrong in their lifetime.

People are like the color grey. We can do sin (like the Devil), and we can do righteousness (like Jesus). We have the ability to do both good and evil. But Jesus has to save us and make us be 100% good like he is with no bad nature at all. He will completely erase our dark sides and make us like the angels in Heaven.

That concept thrills me. The concept of being a totally good and moral person. I would love to be holy and 100% good like God is, but right now I still have my sin nature... :(

One day God will completely take away my sin. I am looking forward to it. :)

Prayers

Please pray that God will allow me to have good health today, less anxiety and safe blood pressure. Also please pray that if it is God's will my son Jakeb will be happy and healthy and God will allow me to hear him laugh or see him smile. Today is my birthday and I thank God for allowing me to be with my family for so many years. Please dear God allow me good health today and to please keep my blood pressure down now and through my doctor appointment and please allow us to keep power to keep us warm. Dear God thank you for Your great mercy and allowing us to be warm. Thank You Dear God for hearing my prayers and answering so many. I ask in the name of Jesus. I love You Dear God and I love You Dear Jesus. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. God bless you for praying for us so often. Carmen

1 John 3:9 Does this mean I must be sin free?

1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

John is not saying that believers achieve sinless perfection by sheer willpower, nor is he describing a merely psychological decision to avoid sin so as not to “reject” God’s seed. Rather, he is describing a change of spiritual nature that results in a changed pattern of life.

To be “born of God” means that God’s own life—his seed—now abides in the believer, and that indwelling life actively opposes sin. Because the Son of God has appeared to destroy the devil’s work, sin can no longer remain the believer’s settled allegiance or habitual practice.

The believer may still sin, as John has already acknowledged earlier in the letter, but they cannot continue in sin as a defining way of life, because the divine life within them is at work reshaping their desires, loyalties, and direction over time.

Obedience, then, is not primarily the effort to protect the seed from being lost; it is the evidence that the seed is alive and bearing fruit. Persistent, unrepentant sin would signal not a temporary failure of effort, but the absence of this new birth itself.

The New York Times Wonders Why Americans Are ‘Turning Against Gay People.’ Isn’t It Obvious?

This week, the New York Times published an article called "Americans Are Turning Against Gay People," and if you're wondering whether the paper has completely lost touch with reality, the answer is yes.

The piece opens with some gushing about a show I’ve never even heard of — and I suspect you haven’t, either — called Heated Rivalry, featuring gay hockey players, suggesting that its success proves "acceptance of queer love continues to grow." The authors, Tessa Charlesworth and Eli Finkel, lament that this is not the case. "We wish we could share that optimism," they write, before citing research showing that acceptance of gay people peaked around 2020 and has "sharply reversed" since then.

I’d be willing to bet that most people haven’t heard of Heated Rivalry, but even so, it’s irrelevant. Gay characters have been on television and in movies for decades, often as leads. These days, you’d have a tougher time finding a show or movie that doesn’t feature LGBTQ characters. If you watch game shows, you’ve probably wondered if they have quotas for LGBTQ contestants, and if they’re required to boast about their sexual orientation.

Nevertheless, the article expresses shock that anti-gay bias reversed course after two decades. Before 2020, they note, everything seemed to be moving forward together. Bigger Pride parades. Rainbow-lit landmarks. Federal legalization of same-sex marriage. Americans' bias against gay people was dropping so fast, faster than any other tracked prejudice, that the researchers even predicted that anti-gay bias would hit zero by 2022. That's possibly the dumbest prediction anyone could make about human nature and social attitudes. Bias hitting zero? Really? Heck, those who preach tolerance are some of the most biased people I’ve ever met. And these are supposed to be serious academics.

He that does the will of God abides into the age...

Peace in Christ.

The scoffers (when they will hear the Word of Truth) shall come and say “where is the promise of His PRESENCE”? The Greek word is “Parousia” which means presence.

We are to receive the promise of His presence in this earthen vessel…in our mortal bodies now in this earth…. so that the people of the outside world who are sitting in deep spiritual dark may “see” Him shine through us. They will see the glory of God shine upon us and will then praise Him above.

His arriving presence in this earthen vessel gives our mortal bodies an age-lasting life so that we never mortally die. We shall continue to live in this earth to the last day of this age when this mortal body shall be changed into immortal thereby circumventing death completely in Christ Jesus. We shall stay alive and remaining here in this earth and will not mortally perish.

2Pe 3:3-9 KJV
(3) Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

Yet the unbelievers in the man-based churches who will hear this will reason in their unbelief : Since the church fathers fell asleep (mortally died), all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.

Where is the promise of His presence since all have died just as they did from the beginning of creation?

(4) And saying, Where is the promise of his coming (PRESENCE)? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
(5) For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
(6) Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

But they do not know (being willingly ignorant) that they are under the judgment of God now (just as the old world was flooded back then) as His wrath is revealed (PRESENT TENSE) from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold down the truth in unrighteousness

Romans 1: 18 - For the wrath of God is revealed (present tense) from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.

The heavens and the earth WHICH ARE NOW are stored with fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men who mortally perish under His wrath.

(7) But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
(8) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

His wrath is revealed by our mortal perishing from this earth. He is not willing that any of His people should mortally perish but that all should come to change their minds.

What we have witnessed so far in Christian history is His wrath coming upon all those before us who did not do His will. In contrast, whosoever will DO the will of God ABIDES here in this earth into the age.

1Jn 2:17
(17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth into the age.

They …the Christians before us who have not done His will….have been the vessels of His wrath….the generation of wrath…the flock of the slaughter. They had not changed their minds about these things and have mortally perished.

His longsuffering toward us is our salvation as He gives us time to come to repentance and not mortally perish. He does not destroy us immediately as He graciously is patient with us.

(9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

He has endured with MUCH LONGSUFFERING the vessels of His wrath who all have mortally perished because they held down the truth in their unrighteousness. By their unrighteousness, the truth was not known by them.

Rom 9:21-24
(21) Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

(22) If God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

What we have witnessed so far were/are the vessels of His wrath so that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of His mercy which are prepared unto glory as His glory shall be revealed upon us to this dark world. These vessels of mercy are the 144,000….the house of Jacob.....who shall show forth His glory to this world.

(23) And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
(24) Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

The “generation of His wrath” has been rejected and forsaken because they do not obey…that is, to hear intelligently….His voice …nor did they receive correction.

And so the truth is perished from this earth. It is cut off from their mouth. Their pastors are not preaching the truth of the gospel as the truth is cut off from their mouth. His presence is not being made manifest through them as they have no understanding.

Jer 7:28-29 KJV
(28) But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

(29) Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

Jer 7:23-24 KJV
(23) But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

(24) But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

The gospel is being hid to them that are currently mortally PERISHING.

2Co 4:3-5 KJV
(3) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost (PERISHING)
(4) In whom the god of this world (age) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

(5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

The unbelievers of the truth will turn their ears away from hearing it. They will not hear and believe but will instead listen to their false teachers who will instruct them to behave in unrighteousness towards the hearing of the truth. They will not receive the love of the truth and be saved but will listen to their false teachers.

2Ti 4:2-4 KJV
(2) Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
(3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

(4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Through Him Who Strengthens Me

“Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11-13 NASB1995)

I live in the USA, in the state of South Carolina, and right now we have been hit with some pretty severe low temperatures for a southern state, and we have been having some snow storms and some ice storms, as well. And it appears that about 23 US states and nearly 200 million people are being impacted by this storm. And large numbers of households are presently without power to heat their homes and to cook their meals and to communicate with the outside world. And, if we were to lose power, I would not be able to write my daily devotions and to post them on the internet.

But I do not know the extent of the damage that this storm has created throughout all these US states at present, but definitely some areas got hit much harder than others. So far we have not suffered any damage to our apartment home, but with the coming weeks’ worth of below freezing temperatures there is the possibility of people’s water pipes freezing and of causing flooding in people’s homes. We did experience this in our apartment in December of 2022 when the water pipes froze in the apartment above us which then flooded our apartment, and we were displaced for a week or so.

The biggest danger here, though, would be for people who had nowhere else to go, and who had no heat to warm them, and who might die in the below freezing temperatures we are expecting here for the next 7 days, it seems. We do have family we can go to if we lose our power, so I think we will be alright, but not everyone has family they can turn to in times such as these. Not everyone has a shelter available where they can go to get heat and food and a place to sleep out from underneath the freezing temperatures. And my heart goes out to them who have no place of refuge, nowhere to go.

And then we read Paul’s words here. And in other passages of Scripture he shared with us some more of the circumstances in which he found himself where he was stoned and left for dead, and where he survived multiple beatings and three shipwrecks and several imprisonments and hardships and many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure, with enemies pursuing him wanting him dead, and much more (see 2 Corinthians 11:23-29). And God got him through every one of those difficulties, and Paul kept on speaking the truth of the gospel of Christ.

Now, when the world falls apart all around us, and we lose the comforts this world has to offer us, and our lives get turned upside down, well, that is the norm for a lot of people in this world. Not everyone has the comforts of living somewhere where they have heat to warm them and a comfortable and warm bed to sleep on and food enough to fill their bellies. So, if we lose those things, even just temporarily, we should think of all those who have none of that, and yet many of them survive. And we should give God thanks for what we do have, by his grace. And we should not grumble.

I like Paul’s words here, and I have lived by them, but not always, and I must still live by them. I must be content with whatever circumstances God allows to come into my life, that he has allowed them for my good, and that good will come out of them in my life and in the lives of people whose lives are touched by mine. I do know what it is like to live on little, and on plenty. I have never gone hungry, but we didn’t always have much. But in whatever circumstances God allows to come into my life, I can survive them in his strength. And if I should die in want, it is God’s will to then take me home.

Sing praises to the Lord!
Tell of His wondrous works.
Afflicted, they cry out;
The Lord will not forget;
The needy, not desert.

The Lord’s our refuge now;
A stronghold when we fear.
The Lord will ne’er forsake
The ones, who Him pursue!

Sing praises to the Lord!
With all my heart I sing.
I will rejoice in Him;
Sing praises to His name;
Tell of His wondrous works.

My shield is God Most High.
He saves those who believe
In Jesus Christ, God’s Son.
His grace has pardoned you!

The Lord accepts my prayer!
The Lord has heard my cries.
He is so merciful.
He heals my anguished soul.
The Lord has made me whole.

Give thanks unto the Lord.
Give praise unto His name.
Our Lord is righteousness.

On the centrality of the Word of God in the life of the Church

“The Church has always venerated the divine Scriptures as she venerated the Body of the Lord,” begins the sixth chapter of Vatican II’s Dei Verbum (CCC 141), as the Council Fathers endeavored to situate Scripture in the life of the Church. Many non-Catholic Christians would question the accuracy of this Vatican II assertion. The purpose here is to demonstrate that the Catholic Church is not only a “Bible-based” Church but the Bible-based Church. As Alfred E. Smith was fond of putting it, “Let’s look at the record.”

Gen. 6:4

Gen, 6:4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
This is one great example of misusing Scripture. Search the Bible until your fingers fall off, and you will not find Yehovah God committing sin. Why in the world do I throw that in here?
God created Angels to be His servants, and Angles do not reproduce.
Matthew 22:30 ESV
For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.
In Heaven, we will no longer reproduce, but will be like the Angels who do not reproduce. Let's look for a moment at possibilities.
Sons of God (Biblical Hebrew: בְנֵי־הָאֱלֹהִים, romanized: Bənē hāʾĔlōhīm, [1] literally: "the sons of Elohim " [2]) is a phrase used in the Tanakh or Old Testament and in Christian Apocrypha. The phrase is also used in Kabbalah where bene elohim are part of different Jewish angelic hierarchies.
Men are great at using themselves to relate to anything else, but Yehovah God had the Holy Scriptures recorded and they interpret themselves and that must be accomplished with the aid of Ruah ha'Mashiach, a.k.a. The Holy Spirit.
Mark 4:11
English Standard Version
11 And he said to them, “To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables,
It is not meant for the Lost Man to understand the parables of God, and they are revealed to the person who submits to the leadership of Yahweh, because those people are indwelt with the Ruah ha’Machiah and He interprets for them.
Colossians 1:26-29
New American Standard Bible 1995
26 that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His [a]saints, 27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man [c]complete in Christ. 29 For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His [d]power, which [e]mightily works within me.
The simple truth is revealed to those who are the Children of God because they are filled with the Spirit of His Presence. To this end, the Sons of God, spoken of in this passage are the God Fearing, God Worshipping Jews who married the daughters of the unchosen.

Mercy to the Guilty is Cruelty to the Innocent - Grandpa Vicha Case Verdict

Adam Smith said, "Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent"

No where is this more apparent than the sentencing of Antoine Watson. For killing an elderly Asian grandfather he got off with involuntary manslaughter. A crime no more than 4 years in prison. Meaning he gets to walk free if the appeal fails as the case is 5 years old. A great miscarriage of justice.

No hate crime, no elder abuse and not even first degree murder. The reason? He was not in the right mind when he attacked. I call it a load of waste. There is recorded video footage of him tackling the old man without provocation. On top of the neighbors hearing Watson screaming "What the fornication (shorten it) are you looking at?".

Watson was clearly racially motivated because he notice the elderly gentleman was Asian. He said, "I thought he was judging me, too, like Malaysia was judging me". Even the victim's daughter believe so. His racism is also mixed with ignorance because Vicha Ratanapakdee is a Thai name. The "you all look the same to me" ignorance. And for those who don't know Thailand is north of West Malaysia. In fact you can't tell if a person is from Malaysia by name because 3 of the major races have naming convention adopted from foreign lands. The Malays majority muslims will have msulims names, the Chinese will have names similar to China and Taiwan and the Indians will have name similar to those in India. Unlike Thai names which are endemic to the country much like Japanese names.

Enough tangent, I'm just sick and tired of the soft on crime based on an invisible social hierarchy. Letting Antoine Watson go is no different from killing grandpa Vicha again. That's my view point.

ICE, Killing, Justice, and Christianity

I'm grieved by much of the news today. We live very much in an "us vs them" culture in the US today. In fact, I pointed out to a person recently that he was behaving in an "us vs them" way, and he just came right out and said, "[T]his absolutely is 'us vs them'." I was shocked. This is supposed to be a Christian working for an apologetics organization at colleges. When you appeal to Christian ethics, and then the Christians tell you your Christian ethics are wrong, what is the world coming to? I was just reading this passage in the Bible today. Keep in mind all that Christ says in the Gospels about being ridiculed, mocked, persecuted, etc., as I cite this verse that talks about the end of times...

Matthew 24:9-10
"“Then they will hand you over to be persecuted, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of my name. Then many will fall away, betray one another, and hate one another.”"

Keep in mind, this is talking about self-proclaimed Christians. Christ says that Christians will betray and hate one another. I don't know about you, but that should be a wake-up call to us to be very careful about how we treat one another as believers in the Lord. Does this mean that all Christians will hate each other near the time Christ comes back? I do not believe so for a few Biblical reasons. John 13:34-35, 17:21-23, Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Corinthians 11:18-19 all make it clear that there WILL BE divisions among professing Christians, but, more or less, the true Christians will be unified as Paul says, "So that those who are approved may be recognized among you."

Having said this, I think it may be prudent of me, as someone who lives in the Twin Cities, MN, to speak about the recent killing of Alex Jeffery Pretti in Minneapolis during the protest that Minnesotans were doing against ICE.

Some preliminaries...

First, this man was NOT a radical leftist. He loved his country, though he disagreed with this administration. He has zero criminal record except for a few traffic tickets. He worked as an ICU nurse. Clearly, his intention was not to harm anyone.

Second, anyone saying that ICE has been perfect and has done nothing wrong is on the far side of being loyal to the government, and it is hardly worth dialoguing with these people. ICE has been caught lying red-handed about certain details. Their only retort is, "That's fake news," rather than actually addressing the evidence against them. I'll now give some examples of this...
  • Internal emails from 2024 showed ICE agents under the Trump administration exaggerated or made false statements about immigrants' threats, which, these false statements were used to justify the aggressive enforcement policies of ICE.
  • DHS lied about the Cato Institute report, saying 70% of arrests were of people who were violent criminals, but the data show it was closer to 30%. Trump's goal, as clearly seen, is to deport all illegals, not just the violent criminals. This is easily verified by statements by Trump saying he wants to do the largest deportation action in the history of America (or the world).
  • Mahmoud Khalil from Columbia was detained. ICE agents said he was trying to flee, but video footage shows that he was fully compliant. A blatant lie to cover their tracks.
  • There are other issues about ICE lying about the brutality and aggressiveness of ICE officers' tactics.
Having these blatant lies out in the open, which I would encourage you to fact-check, is a symptom of a larger issue. That larger issue is that, while I want justice to be done, and the bad guys not get away with it, it's also a problem when the government turns a blind eye to the brutality of what they are doing and justifies their overly-aggressive actions for the sake of "order."

On to the actual incident...

While I am not an expert, and I have not seen ALL the video footage (And frankly, watching a man get shot to death over and over isn't the first thing I want to do), I think it can reasonably be said that this man did not have to die. Of that, I am sure. ICE agents had the man on the ground. It appears they clear away from him shortly before he is shot several times. There is also a clear image of an ICE agent with the victim's gun some distance away from him before he was shot. Stories are flying around that he might have reached for another gun, but that really makes no sense since people with a concealed carry license legally don't usually carry more than one firearm at a time. Not to mention, there is not a shred of evidence that he even had another gun. There are also images of the victim having nothing in his hands but a cell phone.

Having said that, mistakes happen. Police are often in the moment and have to act very quickly in matters of life and death. That is not what is going on here, as best as I can tell. What is going on here is that ICE took matters into their own hands, didn't at all use the proper amount of force (in fact, one might call it barbaric), and a man was shot and killed because he "got in the way" more than anything else.

What is the Christian response to all of this? Pray for America. Pray for Donald Trump, who has resisted the Gospel at every turn, knowing plenty of people in his inner circle have shared the Gospel with him. Pray for Revival in our country to continue. Pray that Christians can see one another as brothers and sisters in the Lord rather than rivals. Above all, pray for God's will to be done. We are in some dark times, and I don't see any change on the horizon. Christians need to be strong and courageous. They need not be afraid to speak up. Not everyone is like me, and going to talk about these cultural issues. Some of you might be better equipped to simply be a listening ear to people, or to gently weave the Gospel into your everyday conversations. I am not here to tell all Christians they need to get involved in politics. But we all must be using our gifts to benefit the body of Christ—to be His hands and feet. To be his voice. To be salt and light.

Wherever you land on politics, if you are in Christ, you are a new creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God has prepared beforehand. Be vigilant. Be sober-minded. Be discerning. Be shrewd as serpents and harmless as doves.

worried

I'm sorry to ask again but it's so cold. Please ask God to protect us and keep our power on and us safe and warm. Oh Dear God please keep us safe and warm and with power if it is Your will. I ask in the name of Jesus. I love You Dear God and I love You Dear Jesus. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. God bless you and protect you. Carmen

The trick to look young all of your life

When you were in elementary school, the government has already decided that you are going to serve society. The problem is that when you are holding onto something mentally your whole life, like a society, stress builds up in your body. And you age on the outside. You will still age normally on the inside, but you will look older eventually because you are holding onto society. The trick to looking young your whole life, is simply to be free mentally. But then you have to let go of society at the same time, and no one wants that out of the eight billion people who are

Even one day is too much

I'm getting worried. My subject line is literal.

I don't know how to handle living one day alone in this house anymore. I'm in literal tears but until I get title to this house, I can't get out of here. And even if I could, is there a point to getting out of here if I'm going to live by myself again? No, I don't want a female roommate. Stop that.

It's getting to the point where I don't know if I can eat dinner each night anymore. It's too difficult. It's that debilitating. My stomach can be starving, but I don't want to eat my dinner. I don't know if it's about appetite but it's about lack of motivation. I don't know where to go. I have nowhere to stay either.

(I do sleep better when no one is around to disturb my sleep but that's the only thing, if any)

My Growing Up Testimony

I’m not sure how much of my testimony as an adult belongs in a Christian community so I will give my testimony about my years in school
And my childhood.

My school years were very difficult for me because I had a learning disability and was just different. As early as the fourth grade, I started to experience bullying and it got worse as the years went by.

During my fifth and sixth grades, the bullying got particularly bad. I was beat up practically everyday on the playground and in the classroom, I was constantly verbally harassed by kids.

I couldn’t walk to school without being bullied or threatened. I frequently got beaten by kids on the way to school. Before school even started, kids would form circles around me and take turns beating me up.

The teachers refused to do anything about the bullying and the principal claimed he couldn’t protect one kid.

My mother withdrew me from the school and put me in a private Christian school and circumstances were no different. In addition to being beat up, I was the victim of vicious rumors such as being a homosexual. This rumor resulted in me being thrown out of the school and going back to the school I left.

After getting out of grade school, my moved us to another area, hoping to find a school where I could attend without being bullied. I did experience two years of peace but they were the calm before the storm.

My final year in junior high school was spent in a school overrun with gang violence and other gang activity. I quickly became an easy target for bullying that I was very fortunate to survive.

I finally stopped being bullied once I started high school because I went to one on the other side of town.
