Suing Founding Ministry to Retire Like Kings

We paid good money to see my niece through Liberty University. It has been sickening for me to see $15 million handed over to Jerry Falwell Jr so he can live like a king.

Now disgraced pastor Robert Morris asking his church for a similar retirement... "Morris, 63, resigned from the church last June after he was accused of sexually abusing a child during the 1980s for more than four years. The disgraced pastor has since been indicted in Oklahoma — where the alleged abuse occurred — on five counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child."

At least his church refused... "Southlake megachurch Gateway Church refused a request from Robert Morris asking for millions of dollars as part of his retirement after the now-disgraced pastor left in the wake of sexual abuse allegations, according to court filings Tuesday." - - Robert Morris asked Gateway Church for millions as part of his retirement. The church said no

Orthodox Eucharist

Forgive me if this has been asked here before, But I'm looking for an explanation of what do the Orthodox churches do with the remaining bread and wine after the service. I have been aware that the Orthodox believe in the real presence, as Lutherans do, but not transubstantiation like the Roman Catholics, right?
We Lutherans believe in the Real Presence but I believe our churches are kinda shakey on how it's handled after the service. Each pastor we've had is different, too(I've been with our church a long time.)
The Wine is put back in the decanter, and the bread is put back in the container, but I always have felt that the elements aren't handled as reverently as I would like to see in our churches.

Hold On Tight! Don't Let Go!

“Depart from evil and do good,
So you will abide forever.
For the Lord loves justice
And does not forsake His godly ones;
They are preserved forever,
But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.
The righteous will inherit the land
And dwell in it forever.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom,
And his tongue speaks justice.
The law of his God is in his heart;
His steps do not slip.
The wicked spies upon the righteous
And seeks to kill him.
The Lord will not leave him in his hand
Or let him be condemned when he is judged.
Wait for the Lord and keep His way,
And He will exalt you to inherit the land;
When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.” (Psalm 37:27-34 NASB1995)

This is written under the Old Covenant God had with his people Israel (Jews only), but much of it parallels over to what is taught in the New Testament under the New Covenant that God has with his people Israel, the body of Christ, his church (Jew and Gentile by physical birth, but who are spiritual Israel, only by faith in Jesus Christ). For under the New Covenant we are also taught to depart from evil (die to sin) and to do good (obey God). And this is so that we will abide (live, continue) forever with God, in Christ Jesus.

The Lord does not forsake his godly ones. And the godly ones in the New Testament are all who, by God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ, have died with Christ to sin and who are now walking (in conduct, in practice) in obedience to our Lord’s New Covenant commands. They are those who live righteously, in practice, and who no longer make sin their practice. And to live righteously is to live according to what God requires of us in holy living, in obedience to his commands, committed to serving the Lord with our lives.

But the wicked hate the righteous. The righteous are an offense to them because they remind them that what they are doing, and how they are living is wrong in the eyes of the Lord, and that if they continue to live in sin, and not in surrender to the will of God, in walks of obedience to his commands, that they will not inherit eternal life with God, even though many of them do make professions of faith in Jesus Christ. And so the wicked may well spy on the righteous and make plans to do away with them in one way or another.

[Matt 7:13-14,21-23; Lu 9:23-26; Jn 10:27-30; Ac 26:18; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14; Rom 12:1-2; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 1 Co 10:1-22; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; Gal 5:16-24; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:1-17; Tit 2:11-14; Heb 3:1-19; Heb 4:1-13; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2; 1 Pet 2:24; 1 Jn 1:1-10; 1 Jn 2:3-6,15-17; 1 Jn 3:4-10]

So, when this says here that the Lord does not forsake his godly ones, and that the Lord will not leave the righteous in the hands of those who seek to do away with them, we need to read this in the context of the New Testament teachings on the subject of sufferings and persecutions. For, although it is true that the Lord will not forsake his righteous ones, he also teaches us that to follow Jesus will mean that we will be hated and rejected and persecuted as he was, and even put to death for our walks of faith.

But even when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for God is with me, and he comforts me, and he has prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies, and surely goodness and lovingkindness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever (see Psalm 23). So, though trials may come, and though enemies come against me, it does not mean that the Lord has forsaken me. I just need to hold on tight to him, and he will help me.

[Matt 5:10-12; Matt 10:16-39; Matt 24:9-14; Luke 6:22-23; Luke 12:49-53; Luke 21:12-19; John 15:1-21; John 16:33; John 17:14; Acts 14:22; Rom 5:3-5; Eph 6:10-20; Phil 3:7-11; 1 Pet 1:6-7; 1 Pet 4:12-17; 2 Tim 3:12; 1 Thess 3:1-5; Jas 1:2-4; 2 Co 1:3-11; Heb 12:3-12; 1 Jn 3:13; Rev 6:9-11; Rev 7:9-17; Rev 11:1-3; Rev 12:17; Rev 13:1-18; Rev 14:1-13]

As the Deer

By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

French President Macron Files Lawsuit Against Candace Owens for Repeatedly Claiming His Wife Is a Man

In 2024, Owens — then a host at Ben Shapiro’s outlet the Daily Wire — boldly stated that she’d stake her “entire professional reputation” [well that's not much, now is it] on Brigitte Macron being a man. Since then, Owens has repeatedly insisted that the French first lady was indeed born a man. At one point, she even launched an eight-episode series called “Becoming Brigitte” to further examine the baseless conspiracy theory.

Judge Denies Release of Epstein Transcripts

In a brief 12-page order, Judge Robin L. Rosenberg wrote that the court’s “hands are tied,” pointing to the government’s own concessions in their filing that the laws on criminal procedure generally forbid courts from unsealing grand jury testimony except in narrow circumstances.

She wrote that the Justice Department’s requests fell outside those narrow contexts, which can include sharing testimony with other Justice Department lawyers or as evidence in another related lawsuit.

FBI investigates vandalism incident at Pennsylvania Catholic church

Federal agents are investigating a vandalism incident at a church in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, according to Bishop Mark Eckman.

Eckman said in a July 19 statement that St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, had been desecrated with “anti-Catholic and anti-Semitic messages.”

The vandalism “wounded not only the people of this parish but every member of our diocesan family,” the bishop said.

“This holy place, meant for prayer, community, and the merciful presence of God has been violated in a deeply painful way,” he added.

Evangelist shares impactful encounters at pagan convention: 'You can’t beat people into the Kingdom'

Former medium-turned-Christian apologist Jenn Nizza recently sat down with Don Veinot, president of Midwest Christian Outreach, to discuss what happens when believers show up at Paganicon, an annual convention for pagans, Wiccans and spiritual seekers, in the name of Jesus.

In a recent episode of Nizza's podcast, "Ex Psychic Saved," titled “Outreach to Cults, Pagans, and Atheists: What Happens When Christians Show Up at Paganicon,” Veinot shared how he and his team regularly attend the annual pagan spirituality convention to share the Gospel with those mired in deception.

Raised by an atheist father and a spiritually curious mother who was into astrology and fortune telling, Veinot shared his journey from disbelief to Christianity.

Another win for Women's rights

The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) announced Tuesday that men who identify as women are no longer eligible to compete in female categories for Team USA.
Trans-identified male athletes will no longer be allowed to compete in women’s categories for Team USA at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, under a new directive from the USOPC that enforces President Donald Trump’s executive order to preserve women’s sports, ABC News reported. The decision follows Trump’s order in February titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which requires immediate compliance by federally funded institutions, including athletic associations.

Malevolent vs. benevolent dispositions and conservative political ideology in the Trump era

The rise of Trump has led me to believe that America has become more and more callous with disregard to the most needy. I've recently been looking into this area and found this. It's relatively recent in a decently respected Journal. This snippet sums it up quite well.
  • Conservative political ideology represented by symbolic and operational ideology and positive view of Trump
  • Psychopathic traits and malevolent disposition predicted increased conservative political ideology
  • Benevolent disposition predicted decreased conservative ideology--i.e., more liberal ideology
  • Those viewing Trump favorably reported elevated malevolent and reduced benevolent dispositions, and less empathy

Clearly, this not saying that all Trump supporters are psychopaths.

“Trust The Process”
Proverbs 3:5 NIV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

This past Saturday, I ran a 5K with a friend of mine from church. We were both really excited to run in the same race again. Before the race started, we were talking about setting pace and I mentioned how I wanted to get below a certain time. My friend offered to pace me and get my time lower. However, he told me to just listen to him, keep up and don’t look at my race watch. I agreed with the pace he told me and I ran along with him.

Throughout the race, we chatted a lot together and he commented on my breathing as well as asking me how I was feeling. He also encouraged me to keep up when he went faster and explained when he was going to go faster. The last mile, I was hurting and I had to mentally push myself to finish. I was exhausted, but at the end, I sprinted as well as I could. We crossed the line together and I took a few minutes to catch my breath.

When I looked at my final time, I almost fell down! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! He took me faster than I thought he would. He was sneaky and pushed me harder than the pace time he had originally said. Why?? Because he knew I was capable and could do it. Hearing that blew me away! I had an idea in mind and he took me beyond that! I trusted him to take me through the race and coach me to get a better time. And….he did!

I spent the rest of the day and weekend just blown away at what I had just done. But, I could NOT have done it if I ran on my own. He had a strategy in mind and knew what he was doing. I did not. I just trusted the process and gave it my all.

Friends, so often in our lives, we have our own ways and try to do so many things on our own. We want to improve, but we don’t know exactly how aside from what we think might work. My friend had actually recommended me to set a pace and keep that the entire race, so that was the first 5K race I had done that. It worked and it was amazing!

If we trust God in life and let go of what we think are good ideas and trust His process and timing, amazing things happen! All weekend, I just kept thanking God for this opportunity and for what my friend had pushed me and encouraged me to do. I just couldn’t believe I had done that well and didn’t think I was capable of it quite yet.

We have to trust His process. We have to trust and let Him guide, even when it hurts and we don’t think we can finish. If I had run the race on my own, this would not have happened. I am grateful for my friend’s encouragement and I am grateful that God gave me the endurance to finish this well.

When life gets tough, trust in Him and His process.

Israel Police finds no damage to Christian church after false claims of arson by Jewish settlers draw broad condemnation

The Israel Police announced on Monday that, contrary to previous reports, the Church of Saint George in the Christian village of Tabyeh was not damaged by a nearby fire.

"Contrary to misleading reports, no damage was caused to the Church of Saint George in Taybeh. The fire was limited to an adjacent open area, not the holy site. Emergency services received reports from local residents, including both Israelis and one Palestinian caller," the police stated.

Noting that they have started a "thorough investigation," the police statement added, "If arson is confirmed, justice will be pursued regardless of race or background. Due process is based on facts, not headlines."

Evangelical pastor, family massacred by terrorists in Syria; at least 20 dead

An Evangelical pastor and roughly 20 of his family members were killed over the weekend in Syria in what church officials described as a targeted massacre. The victims included his parents, siblings, their children and other close relatives.

Pastor Khalid Mezher, who led the Good Shepherd Evangelical Church in Suwayda, had converted from the Druze faith to Christianity along with his family several years ago, according to Premier.

He was widely known in the region for his ministry work and remained in Suwayda despite growing tensions and threats of violence.

Trump announces sweeping Japan trade deal with $550B investment by Tokyo

“We just completed a massive Deal with Japan, perhaps the largest Deal ever made. Japan will invest, at my direction, $550 Billion Dollars into the United States, which will receive 90% of the Profits,” Trump, 79, wrote on Truth Social.
“Perhaps most importantly, Japan will open their Country to Trade including Cars and Trucks, Rice and certain other Agricultural Products, and other things. Japan will pay Reciprocal Tariffs to the United States of 15%.”

So much for the naysayers.

I'd appreciate prayer.

Please would you pray for me? Lots of issues; feeling very sad. Especially the hurt I've received from an opposite sex friend: Please pray that this will get sorted out. Also for a breakthrough in my finances. The Lord provides everything I need, but I feel it will help the depression I suffer from if I was able to travel a bit or find my birth family. Finally the Lord wants me to do some writing on aspects of my life. The sadness I feel, because of the upset with my friend, is preventing me from doing this. Please pray that I will get on with the writing and that my friend will be kind and nice to me when I see him on Sunday, or preferably will contact me before then. Also that he will be willing to stay friends despite making new ones where he has just moved to. I've had so much rejection in my life; I don't think I can handle any more.

Thank you and God bless!
