I feel a draw to monasticism and kind of always have. I haven't really been able to explore it, though. I've never even been to a monastery since there's so few in Canada and they're all on the other side of the country. I'm so poor too, which makes travel difficult. So yes, I'd love to be given a cheque so I could do that, LOL.

I agree! There is a Bulgaria-Serbia—Romania tour I saw. You get to see so many castles plus Rila Monastery!!

my vote (not that I have one) would be the Balkans. Romania would be awesome to visit.

It seems like a very new city in regards to infrastructure. would like to check it out strictly based on engineering.

I can’t get over how many claims of fraudulence and trickery have been claimed about the holy fire. Google it sometime. I never hear accusations about the other Orthodox miracles, but they really claim the Holy Fire is a hoax. Interesting how even popes have denounced it.

Tbh, I have looked into the arguments myself. It has made me officially agnostic on whether it's authentic or not. That's partially why I want to witness it for myself. I think seeing it for myself would help confirm in my mind that it's real. I can't blame myself for thinking that way. It's a bit of atheist baggage I still carry around unfortunately.

I believe it’s authentic, as most explanations for it tend to revolve around the Church using certain chemicals to ignite the fires secretly, yet no one is able to see these chemicals in the Church and had they been secretly used by the Church to fool the masses someone would have noticed by now.

Well I would hope there's no hoax. There's no need to fake anything when the Truth is behind it. I suppose unless your candle was one that lit spontaneously, the only thing a person could objectively check for themselves is whether the flame was truly cool for some early time.

I admit, I'd like to see any of them. It's of less importance to me than it was when I first heard of it. But I'd still like to be there when it happens if I ever got a chance.
