I believe it’s authentic, as most explanations for it tend to revolve around the Church using certain chemicals to ignite the fires secretly, yet no one is able to see these chemicals in the Church and had they been secretly used by the Church to fool the masses someone would have noticed by now.

Tbh, even if it was proven to be fake I doubt it would shake my faith. My faith does not rely on little tricks like this. There's so much more evidence besides the Holy Fire that holds weight.

I can’t get over how many claims of fraudulence and trickery have been claimed about the holy fire. Google it sometime. I never hear accusations about the other Orthodox miracles, but they really claim the Holy Fire is a hoax. Interesting how even popes have denounced it.

it's because it's the most public one we have, and lots of heretics have failed at trying to do it.

I have met folks who have been there for it, so it's legit.

The Israelis search the Patriarch and all the monks and priests before they enter the Church so they can’t be bring anything to light the fire. So that disapproves the claim of there being some kind of trick or chemicals being used. Plus the Latins tried to light the fires during their reign in Jerusalem during the Crusades and failed miserably.

and the Muslims did it before the Jews, an Armenian bishop tried and failed, a Muslim saw it atop a minaret and claimed Christ is the True God, etc.

I heard a couple Mormons and Seventh Day Adventists tried, too. The most unsuccessful attempt was by some Sun Myung Moon followers.

Speaking of moons. Would elon musk accept a check for a trip to mars on his rockets? lol
I’ve wanted to visit Mars since I was a little child. I’ve read all I can, both science and science fiction and mythology, about the planet. If it were possible, that would be my destination of choice, though I think I am unlikely to see the reality of it for any human, and almost certainly not me.

Honestly I waver each day with our trip plans. I really would like to do the Israel and Jordan trip. I want to see Jerash, Umm Qais, Kerak Castle, Wadi Rum, and Petra in Jordan. That country is pretty darn safe. And in Israel, the holy sites I want to see are OBVIOUS! But it's the whole Israel part that gives me pause safety-wise.

Yeah. Ive been viewing the red planet. Its very close to the earth this month and it can be seen with the naked eye. It looks like a yellow star and can be seen every evening in the east.

Always been my favorite planet (except this Earth on which we live). Venus may be brighter, Jupiter larger, Saturn is kind of cool, and the former planet Pluto is so mysterious, but Mars has a special place in my heart (maybe thanks in part to Ray Bradbury and Edgar Rice Burroughs, as well as the Viking mission and the Mars rovers). I remember a few years ago when it was also relatively large and close and beautifully visible to the naked eye or with binoculars. I often look for it when out for a walk at night.

It's so interesting reading US, Canadian, and UK travel alerts to different countries. Egypt and Jordan are considered FAR safer than Turkey, and Morocco is one of the top-rated safe places!? I always figured North Africa would be more of a red flag than some places. The Russia warnings are just political.

But then there's "Invaders from Mars" and "War of the Worlds" and little green men . . . . . oh, my!

Its incredible how infinite space is. Helps us realize that infinity isn't just a fable.

I'm repulsed at how Israel has created a type of apartheid in their country not only by banishing and marginalizing the Palestinians, but they have created a law that effectively turns non-Jews into second class citizens. This bunch appalls me. I love the sites in Israel, but find their government and politics so repugnant that I would be going nuts LOL
