I cast my vote, but these three words about Option 2 bothered me:

Could this mean that this sort of thing is in Erwin's long-term plans?
I see your concern, but look, Erwin's ALREADY showed his colors by allowing who he does in the Christian forums anyways.

Plus, he disregarded people's majority vote before too.

I have little trust and no faith in Erwin anymore. The damage has already been unleashed here.

What recent decision? :( I have a feeling it's not a good one.

The frightening thing is "Do what thou willt but harm no other." is the central tenet of satanism. That people are using that same tenet to define Christianity is beyond heretical. It's satanic. Not rhetorically, or anything, but actually.
Actually that's the basic tenet of Wicca, not satanism (the two are completely different), BUT you are right about the fact that this view of sin ignores God's Commandments to us.

I believe Erwin is sincerely doing what he believes is right - and is listening to God. We may not agree with all of it, but I don't think we should be questioning his integrity. He has enough to deal with at the moment.
Please, let's stick to discussing the issues, not the motivation - cos really, we can't judge that!

God bless you.

As the owner and driving force of a huge forum like this he is going to be attacked. That's the nature of these situations. He can choose to be attacked for standing for Christ and the truth of His Scripture, or he can choose to be attacked for watering it down and allowing heresies and false doctrines to overrun this place, while calling it "Christian". I think we know which he's chosen. It can't help but lead one to wonder if all these changes are representative of some great turmoil in his own faith. Something to pray about, for sure.

It took me pages to say what you just eloquently said in a few paragraphs. This is exactly what was done.

There WAS a solution to the criticisms he was getting clear back last year when serious Christians were leaving due to warnings & violations they were getting in trying to defend the integrity of scripture;
instead of implimenting those things (adjusting a few things in the Preamble), he obliterated any Preamble/creed and opened the entire site up to heresy. Becuz of that, I wondered the same thing about his own faith issues.

For that, he SHOULD have gotten criticism from born again believers.

Is it wiccan? Yuck. I know Anton LaVey's "church" had that as its fundamental law but I don't know much more than that so I assumed it was all satanism. Sorry for the mistake.

AArgh!!!
You've talked to him about this, have you? Rather than just judging him?

Sorry - not wanting to start an argument here, but this has been really annoying me elsewhere on the site - this forum has been an escape from it until now..

Please don't confuse judging with accountability. There is a huge difference. No one here hates Erwin. We're just very concerned.

Regardless of the inner workings of Erwin's heart and brain, I think we are all challenged to implement that "truth in love" concept right now. It can be very hard to be firm and uncompromising while still loving and patient. Oh, the thread I linked to in the OP is trying my patience! But I am convinced that any rudeness on my part will just be counter-productive, so I'm doing the best I can to articulate my position in a firm but kind manner.

Thanks, you guys (gals ;) ). It's difficult when people mischaracterize my position. I'm SO not out to get anybody. I wouldn't even be participating in this discussion if I didn't think it dealt with the fundamentals of Christianity. Plus, our input was solicited, so I gave it... but some would classify that as me being hateful and judgmental, when I've been trying to be anything but. :sigh:

Hey, no worries! We're all pretty emotional about this stuff right now. I'm just glad we can talk it out. :)

You know, it was pointed out to me that there is a silver lining in some of this recent stuff. It is drawing our attention away from secondary matters and back towards the core essentials of the faith. It's easy to forget how important the doctrine of the Trinity is when it goes without saying. Not that this "makes it all worthwhile" or anything, but I suppose it is good that it is causing us to re-examine important doctrines that are sometimes neglected. "Afflict the comfortable" and all that. :p

It seems that it is always something, one thing gets a bit settled, just in time to start up another battle...I think some live on the battle scenes, but I for one am just so weary of it all...

I'm not big on battles. I like to keep away from them. But this is a matter that I think deserves serious and thoughtful attention. I don't want it to be a battle, but I feel I must speak when staying silent would violate my conscience.
