  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is a really cool thread. You know? I have another idea1 (Lisa ducks!)

At my church, I organized something called STYLE.

It stand for Seniors Teaching Younger Ladies Everything. It is based on Titus 2 which instructs older women to teach younger women "good things".

What if we held STYLE meetings here? We could teach each other stuff, exchange recipes, all kinds of stuff.

What do you think? It won't be as easy as in person, but I think we could do it. I know I could teach Loom Knitting online. There are even video links I can provide. That is one of the ways I taught myself.

Lisa
That would be a great idea. :) I like the recipe exchange part myself. :yum:

Lisa, does your STYLE group have a mission statement or something on paper that would give me an idea how to start something like that?

Yes it does! I am not sure if I have it saved on this computer or the one at work. Let me see...

That sounds like a really neat idea Lisa!

I've got a suggestion... (now I'm ducking... LOL)... Anyway, I was thinking earlier today when I saw this thread that maybe we should set up a CCW forum (Conservative Christian Women?). That way we won't drive away all the men with our girl talk! LOL

Not like men can't join in -- I know my husband is a GREAT cook!!! Although he doesn't really use recipes! LOL

That is so neat Lisa.

That's the one thing I miss -- my mom passed away over 10 years ago, and I lost my grandmother just a little over a year ago, so besides my mother-in-law (whom I love...) I don't have anyone to talk to about this stuff really! (My girlfriends are not the stay-at-home, homemaking types at all! LOL)

I would love to participate in something like that here! :)

Erwin is asking for submissions for sub forum graphics headers. I think it would be really cool to take one of the paintings here, add something simple like:

Welcome to Conservative Christians!

Lisa

I think that would be a great idea to do with Joe's moms painting Lisa! It could say...

Welcome to Conservative Christians!

That's really beautiful, BarbaraJean! :)

Thanks! I kept it on my sofa for snuggling for a few years but now it's tucked away as it's starting to get a bit ragged from use.

I used a sponge...works very well for trees. Cotton balls work pretty good for clouds.
Like, the corner edge of a sponge? Because the texture makes it look like fern, almost. It's so pretty!

Okay...Green Anna wants pictures. So here is my latest crochet project. It will be an afghan of approximately 117 squares when it is done. I have completed 7 so far, although this picture only has 2...

:swoon: Ahh, Greenie, you know how beautiful am gonna think they are. A whole blanket like that is gonna be stunning :swoon: Unbelievably beautiful. How big will it be when it's completed? Also, where the squares are connected, is that chain stitching?

Another one of my crochet projects (since we're talking quilts):

:swoon: More swooning! BJ, that's amazing. It's so so pretty, and the you look closer and see how intricate it all is. And the colours are just gorgeous. So Autumnal! It looks really soft, too, actually. What yarn did you use?

It's Red Heart and it really isn't very soft. I prefer Caron Simply Soft which is what I used in this one:

That is very pretty, so far all I can do is crochet in a stright line. Have no ideal how to make patterns like that.

I always tell people that if they enjoy it, stick with, keep trying something new and before long you'll be amazed at what you're making!

Oh! Just like Greenie's! You're both amazing crocheters. Wow. Heh, makes me wanna give up slightly. How long did it take you to do that?

 Red Heart is my favourite yarn  We can't get it here so I have to get it from America, and the colours are so beautiful. They have one called Pink Camo which is so incredibly pretty. It's not terribly soft, though, no
