  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not sure how big this will be... It's on a box canvas. I prefer them, for some reason.

I can only paint in oils. Would LOVE to be able to paint in watercolour because it's so much dreamier, but if you make a wrong stroke, it can throw the whole thing off.

Mama, how do you know when to, like, stop? How do you fight the temptation to just add a little more here and there?

Picture025.jpg

I know! That's the thing about any painting really. I guess you just get a sense of it and when you step back and look at it from a distance it helps give you in better perspective.

This is a wonderful oil painting Anna...

I don't quilt...but I have a sewing machine right close by. ;) A friend of mine does wonderful quilting. I'd like to try some one day. :)

Oh yay! Can't wait to see the pics.

That's fabulous Green Anna!
Yay...our first picture and a beautiful one at that. :)
I know nothing about painting. About the only painting I can do is walls. ;) But I sure admire those who can.

Well...I must be off to work. Have a great day ladies. I look forward to seeing many more pics in the days and weeks to come.
Have a great day GT! TTYL on today. :)

Is it really as simple as sewing patches together, do you think?

Cheers, sis

This thread is gonna be so pretty! Wanna show you some photos of the most *beautiful* yarn. It's some of the mreino wool, and the colours are just... :swoon:

Have a lovely day, Greenie :hug::kiss:

Thank you, mama  Do you have photos of your paintings? There's something very special about watercolours... the way you can see where the colours have mingled, and they rarely seem to be done in abrasive colours. They're gentle, and peaceful.

I'll see if I can find some pictures and post them. They aren't that good, but I enjoyed doing them. :)

Another lovely thread!

I knit a bit - not much nowadays - due to lack of time! And do cross-syitch...well, satrt cross-stitch projects...occasionally finish one - but is rare!!
And paint (acrylics)
Love your picture Anna. How long does it take to do something like that? Cos when I tried oils I didn't have the patience to wait for it to dry... Acrylics are more instant - but you don't get the same depth...

Also - sellotape and glitter?? Sounds like my kitchen after the kids heve been busy!

 oh gee

No I don't do anything with yarn

BUT my wife crochets, and taught a class last school year for the homeschool coop, so I got to type up a bunch of different patterns for her:yawn: ...

...maybe I should start a gun thread or something guy-ish  :p

I bet they're beautiful :) Do you paint anything that captures your imagination or do you focus on still life/scenery, etc? Would so love to see your paintings!

I have always wanted to learn to knit and/or crochet. Unfortunately, I didn't know anyone who did these things. My Grandmother taught me how to cross-stitch though. I haven't done a piece in a long time, though.

Aww, that picture is so so adorable

Tang, here's an amazing link for crochet lessons. It's so wonderful. http://craftydaisies.com/category/learn-to-crochet/

It has instructions and videos so you can see it all happen step by step. It's wonderful! The two photos of lap blankets are by people who followed the online lessons :)

 Joe, that's extraordinary! Look at its eyes! It looks sort of, sad, and a little world-weary, but so full of life. That's amazing. And done in chalk! Chalk is impossible...

Is she a professional?

I never would have seen all that on my own but having read your description, yes, it's all there.

It's wonderful, Joe.

My Mom has just started to sell some of her artwork - not to make money, but out of a sense of satisfaction.

You can see some of it at:

She recovered from breast cancer not long ago, and the Lord is helping her to develop her creative skills now.

Ooh, Joe, you spell mum the American way :p

So glad to hear she recovered  She's in full remission? And how amazing that on the other side of such an ordeal, God is blessing her with such an amazing ministry. God is very, very good :)
