  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would you be bad without God?

Had a friend point out your testimony. It is always good to see people who share similar experiences. If your path is going to be, anything like mine has been/is the only thing i can tell you is always be faithful to what you have been given, no matter what that means. In whom much is given much is expected.
Yes! Its the only good answer that seems to work in the (How can it be fair equation) You see I have absolutely no doubt in the world that God exist, and His Son Jesus is Lord, and my struggle has been how could this possibly be fair, how could people have to simply go through life trusting by faith that He is real, and some people get first hand experiences that faith is nolonger needed, I don't have faith God exist, I know He exist!.....somehow I think your right, more is going to be required from me knowing beyond all doubt, than those who live by faith........I would have to imagine when I tell my testimony it builds others faith, especially if they could see how sincere my heart is for those who have never even felt God's presence.

(Not to compare either of us or anyone else to Paul, I am just using Him and or the other Apostles as an extreme example to illustrate the point.)

What has been share with you and others like you is for more than simple salvation. You are on a track that goes beyond the Mustard seed faith that is required for a believers life. Understand this does not make you "better" just way, way, way more accountable for your Words, thoughts, and deeds.

Why?
It is so you will know who you serve in the blackest trial, or during the most earth shattering tribulation you can imagine. Look at how Paul was introduced to his faith. Was what he given merely for his personal belief? Look at His trials, Look at His time spent in prison, look at his beatings, look at the times he was stoned, look at what he had, and how he died. Now look at what he accomplished. Now Ask yourself how was all of this possible?

Yes through the holy Spirit of God but look at the mechanics the Holy Spirit/God used to fortify this man. In Spending time with Christ (amonst other things) I am positive He understood the concept of God's complete love. (you can see it in his Words, thoughts, and deeds.) It was with this love that He found fuel to fight the good fight, to finish the race, to finish well. No matter what he faced.

My advise is to ask God to prepare you for what is to come and to give you the heart to ask for, and to embrace the coming storms so that you may get to the purpose that he has set you aside. I also suggest that you pray for not only Wisdom, but the humility required to use what you have been given.

You are approaching a cross roads, this is both an exciting and frightening time. You should be excited to see how far this rabbit hole goes, but at the same time change and all of the tempering you will face will be scary. In your darkest hour hold on to what you have been given, and know it is all for a purpose. If you are ever at a loss remember to ask seek and knock for the Holy Spirit as in Luke 11. We ask in prayer, we seek in church and places like this we knock by repeating this process till we get what our hearts asking and seeking. Learn/Know your Shepard's voice and do not be afraid to follow Him no matter where He leads you!

Would you care about being evil if there was no God?

Just interested because many of you have replied to other threads saying you wouldn't, I was wondering if this was a popular belief.

Thanks

I thinkk to answer this question I will start with a quote:

For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? - Rom 7:22-24

So this guy was having a struggle he realised that he had two parts, a good part and a bad part, and the two were at war. I once heard a preacher say it is like feeding two Dogs the dog you feed the most will win. If you were to remove God, then naturally the sinful, wreched Dog would win. I make it my goal to not even consider what life whould be with out God, firstly I know he is real, I know he is good, and I want the delight for God to be prominent in my life, and prominent in others lives. Hey I have had some wreched moments, but they were when I was unaware of God, or confused about his character. The same guy above goes on to say:

Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!

He knew it was God who delivers him from stinking thinking.

thankyou for your wise words, and I have a collection of bibles which I search daily, acknowledging to be sure! I will be least in the kingdom of God, but my hope, is only to help those who He has chosen to be great! Its the only honor I will receive, just to enter life with Him, is an honor in itself, for I also know what its like to be filled with worms that never die. I know from what depths I have been raised, He is a good God, most compassionate and loving God I have ever known.

if there was no god there would be no me, or the me that there was would be a completely different entity - as I believe I was made by god - so no god = no me

so I guess, not existing at all, I wouldnt care much about anything.

I am still bad with god btw - - I dunno how he puts up with me :)

Let me put it this way. When someone offends me, my initial and natural desire is to try to get back at them in revenge. However, my actual response usually is to forgive and let God take care of it.

Why? Well, for one, I know that I am a sinner, and God has forgiven me for many things. How could I not do the same?

Second, I believe that it is God's place to judge, not ours. To take revenge into our own hands is basically an act of usurpation against God. So if a person doesn't seek forgiveness for their wrongs against me, God will take care of it. However...

If a person does seek forgiveness, and God forgives them, then that person becomes my brother or sister. It would be wrong to enact revenge on someone who, like me, was deserving of punishment, yet was given mercy instead.

How would I behave if there was no God? Well, there would be no God to judge, no God to forgive, so what would be holding me back?
