Wives vs submission to husbands vs submission to Jesus

Hi there. Then please enlighten me about 1 Corinthians 7:2-5? Thanks.

Paul is saying that marriage is a better choice then fornification. This does not mean he endorses adultery. Both Paul and Jesus teach that it is better to remain single if you can control yourself and remain celibate. If you can not control yourself then marriage is a better choice then fornicaton or sex outside of marriage.

11 But He said to them, “All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given: 12 For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.”

Hi.Beautiful scriptures. Thank you. But I was asking about 1Corinth 7:2-5 where it says for married people not to hold out on each other sexually. Verse 4 The wife hath not power of her own body but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body but the wife.
The only time it's okay to hold out is when you both agree to do so for the reason of fasting and prayer and of course during her monthly.There may be other times too like if either is too sick or tired from work or e.t.c to handle their duties.

I met a woman who married an older man who was a painter. He was frequently out of work. He physically threatened her, punching a hole with his fist in the drywall near her head. She was working two jobs to support them. One thanksgiving her girl friend whom she had known since high school had to take up a collection for them to be able to afford a decent meal. Another time her husband took their money and flew to visit his father. She refused to submit to him any more. She changed the lock on their house and filed for divorce. She got friendly with an engineer she met while taking her children to a roller skating rink where he was spending time with his children. She followed him and they married nine months after they met. He was more intelligent than she and she submitted to him and remained married until he passed away.

I have a pretty good wife but I bet I could have done better if I knew then what I know now. But that does not mean I want to go back to the beginning and start all over again. I have a pretty good house also. I could tear it down and start all over again but why? It is better just to work on what I have to fix it up and try to make it a better place to live.

Did she divorce her first husband because he was unloveable or because of her lack of love for him? The wife is to submit to the husband to the degree that the husband in in submission to Christ. So she submits to Christ though her husband. The husband is to sacrifice himself for the wife in the same way that Jesus sacrificed Himself on the Cross for us. We are to die to self so we can live for God.

Romans 6:6 We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. 7 For anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

Thank you for this post. I believe many people's minds in this thread are fixated on the flesh rather than on the spirit.

No one seems to pay much attention to what the Bible teaches. Jesus lived His life as an example for us to follow. The Bride is the Church and we are to be without spot, blemish or wrinkle when Jesus comes for us.

I never said it had anything to do with the "works of the flesh"... I was asking for a definition because in my experience, Christian men love having a specific definition of these things. lol​

I am sorry but I can't find it written anywhere that wives are to submit to the degree that their husbands are in submission to God. It is fair to say that having a godly husband makes the job of submission easier but to make it a condition is to contradict the rest of scripture. The Lord does not make obedience of his word contingent upon someone else's obedience.

Wives are submit to their husbands and husbands are to love their wives as Christ loves the church. Each person is to do their job and not watch over their shoulder to see whether the other person is doing theirs.
