Jesus Is Real, I regret that you seem to have such a negative impression of Sabbathkeepers. It is true that many people with harsh, legalistic temperaments have also honored the seventh-day Sabbath; yet not all of us subscribe to a theology that would condemn anyone who does not keep the Sabbath to hell.

I fully believe and understand that Jesus' work on the Cross means that we don't have to do good works or keep every law to gain our salvation, and I praise His Name that He has saved us! And in gratitude and love, I willingly obey a few simple rules that I understand He has given us for our benefit: I put nothing ahead of Him; I don't worship other images or use His name lightly or scornfully; I honor my parents and my neighbor's life, spouse, and property; I refrain from falsehood and excessive desire for anything except a closer relationship with my Heavenly Father; and I rest and worship on the day that many affirm is the Biblical Sabbath. Others may choose to do otherwise, and I will still accept them as brothers/sisters in Christ. For myself, though, I do my best to live by God's principles.

And just as not killing, stealing, committing adultery and the rest has great benefits to me in the form of better relationships with my fellow humans, so keeping God's Sabbath has enhanced my relationship with Him Who ordained it.

Again, I keep the Sabbath not from legalism or misplaced works-righteousness, but because I have found it a good thing to praise God and remember Him on the day He ordained for it. I regret any appearance otherwise, Jesus Is Real, and I ask your forgiveness if I have ever said anything that could be interpreted as condemnation toward you.

The law of commandments and ordinances is also referred to as the Mosaic Law, or sacrificial law.
The Ten are not part of that and were around long before God wrote them on that table of stone. Stone indicating permanence, as has the Rock of Ages.

Now, there were two laws in the bible. Gods law, and moses law. This picture here explains that quite well:

Sure I see it, and I'm sorry, but telling everybody else that you have to observe the Sabbath on a Saturday instead of a Sunday on a Julius Caesar calendar has absolutely nothing to do with loving the Lord your God. Besides, it is a direct violation of Colossians 2:16.

Actually, according to the Greek, that which Col. 2:14 speaks of as being abolished is the record of sin, not the law.

It is important that we exegete passages correctly before trying to use them to support a point.

I clipped the following from the article, which would benefit those who are trying to use Colossians to support the idea that the 7th day Sabbath has been abolished:


"Many denominations teach that the phrase "handwriting of requirements that was against us" (NKJV) in verse 14 refers to God's law. Because of this interpretation, they hold the antinomian position that Christ's death abolished the law. Yet that interpretation doesn't fit the context here, because verses 11 through 14 talk of sins being wiped out. The abolishment of the law would not make humans sinless, because sin was in the world before the law was given (Rom. 5:13), and death reigned from Adam to Moses because of sin (Rom. 5:12, 14).

So what is Paul saying in verse 14? The term "handwriting of requirements" comes from the Greek phrase cheirographon tois dogmasin. In recent years scholars have found where the word cheirographon was used by other writers in the same time period to refer to a signed bill of indebtedness. Clearly, Paul is saying in verse 14 that when the Colossians repented and accepted Christ's sacrifice on the cross, God allowed His death to pay their debt in satisfaction of the strict standards of the law."

How have you been able to absolutely rule out that Paul wasn’t simply saying that (1) the blotting out of ordinances isn’t as The Living Bible explains it: "And blotted out the charges proved against you, the list of His commandments which you had not obeyed. He took this list of sins and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ’s cross." and (2) that he wasn’t also simply saying that the Colossians should not let anyone - other than the body of Christ, which is the church - criticize them for HOW they were observing the things mentioned in verse 16?

That's great! But just keep in mind that God's rest is in a particular day.

"Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done." Gen. 2:1-3

And if we love God we will remember the day in which He rested, and sanctified, thus honoring it, and keeping it holy like He told us to do.

As for resting from sin, I don't want to just rest from it, I want it completely out of my life. In fact, I want it to be completely removed from existence itself.

God rested on the 7th Day from all his Works and so must you/AND ME rest from all OUR 6 day's of works: OUR works of the flesh - sin.

Connie, this thread is about the Sabbath, not about me. And I am getting quite irritated that you keep bringing my personal life into it.

From this post of yours, as well as your other posts to me, you seem to be implying that I am really not a part of the body of Christ because 1. I am an SDA, and 2. I supposedly don't know what it means to rest in God.

This really bothers me! And if you can't see that your posts are replete with self-righteousness in this way, then you really need to look at them more closely, especially this one.

Everyday in The Rest we now Work as Jesus Worked the land. Jesus hasn't been slack in His Instructions to His Own,.....He's the only One who can bring others along and He Is!!!

Well re-read what I wrote then.....without any offenses. But what ever is rising up in you you need to address,...it's not you! It's an enemy on the land of your Promised Land. HEY I GOT THEM TOO!!!

So,....Of course your Saved out of Egypt, your your faith would faulter in hoplessness being not In Christ,....but now enter the Warfare - into God's 7th Day Rest and Do battle unto the enemies on the land.
