Take it up with Jesus.

The New Covenant is a covenant of grace, not a covenant of law.

It is based on loving one another as Jesus loves us.

If you don't know what that is, I can't help you.
We shall speak no further, there is no point.

The Bible does present the Ten Commandments as the covenant itself. In Exodus 34:28, it is written:
"So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments."
"So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone
(Deuteronomy 4:13, NKJV)

This clearly states that the Ten Commandments are the covenant. When we look at Jeremiah 31:31-33, we see God speaking of a new covenant, but notice what He says:
"Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord.
But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

This passage does not say the law itself would change. Instead, it tells us that instead of being written on stone, it would be written in our hearts and minds. That means the law remains the same, but its place changes, from external tablets to internal conviction. This is why we see in the Gospels of John, Matthew, Luke and Mark, Jesus teaching the commandments and magnifying them.
Now, let's connect this with the Ark of the Covenant. In Deuteronomy 10:1-5, God commanded Moses to place the two tablets of the Ten Commandments inside the Ark:
"At that time the Lord said to me, ‘Hew for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to Me on the mountain, and make yourself an ark of wood... Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tablets in the ark which I had made; and there they are, just as the Lord commanded me.’"

This shows the special place of the Ten Commandments, inside the Ark, symbolizing their central role in the covenant. But what about the rest of the law? In Deuteronomy 31:24-26, Moses wrote the book of the law and placed it beside the Ark:
"So it was, when Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book, when they were finished, that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying: ‘Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness against you.’”

This distinction is important. The Ten Commandments were placed inside the Ark, showing their eternal, unchanging nature as the foundation of the covenant. The rest of the law was placed beside the Ark, acting as a witness.
Now, when Jeremiah speaks of the law being written in our hearts, he is speaking of the same law—the Ten Commandments. The "new" part of the covenant is not that the law changes but that God Himself ensures it is within us, guiding us from within rather than being an external set of rules. This aligns perfectly with how Jesus upheld and fulfilled the law, always pointing back to love for God and neighbor as the foundation of obedience (Matthew 22:36-40).

So, the New Covenant is not about replacing the Ten Commandments but about making them part of who we are, just as they were placed inside the Ark.

Blessings

Not based on the law?

God said:

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Precisely. . .we are no longer governed by a written code but by our regenerated hearts on which is written more than just "do no harm,"
but whereon is written love one another as I have loved you.

All are free to live under the obsolete Old Covenant (Heb 8:13) law, or by the New Covenant transcending law of Jesus Christ. . .love one another as I have loved you. (Jn 13:34)

I'm goin' with the New Covenant law of Jesus.

I know you said you don't listen to the teaching of Jesus because He lived and taught "Old Covenant" which is pretty sad considering one will miss the warning He gave when we place our own written code in our heart, instead of God's law which Jesus quoted directly from the Ten Commandments and in doing so ones heart is far from Him and the path that leads those who teach not to keep God's commandments (Ten Commandments) and follow those teachings, into a ditch. No wonder why Jesus warned us about being accountable for our teachings with serious consequences again quoting from the Ten Commandments Mat 5:19-30.

Mark 7:7 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men

Mat 15:3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father [a]or mother.’ Thus you have made the [b]commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8 ‘These people [c]draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.

9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”

13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”

For me, living by every Word of Jesus Christ who is God that became flesh I know through His Word and teachings He will only lead those who listen and follow on the narrow path back to Him Rev 22:14-15 Sad so many people believe His teachings are not for them. Guess it will sort itself out soon enough

I'm goin' with the new command of Jesus. It requires a lot more than the obsolete Old Covenant "do no harm."

Good luck with having your own code in your heart. I hope it works out the way you hope it will. For me, I am going to stick with the teachings of Jesus Christ and keep God's law in my heart Heb 8:10 and trust He will only lead us to the narrow path back to Him Rev 22:14. Jesus told us what happens when we are without His law Mat 7:23 1 John 2:4 Rev 22:15- He gave us His commandments just as He loved us because He knows not keeping them separates us from Him Isa 59:2. He knows what's best for us 1 John 5:3 Exo 20:6 John 14:15, instead of us thinking we know better than our Creator.

You either believe the word of God in Heb 8:7-13, or you don't.

My God's arm is not too short for those of saving faith in his Son.

I beleive all of God's Word.

God tells us the New Covenant is established on better promises Heb 8:6 nothing about being established on better or new laws. The New Covenant still has God's law, now written on a better surface our hearts Heb 8:10

Yes, the Old Covenant is obsolete, the New Covenant established on better promises has God the one doing, He enabling us to keep His law by converting our stony hearts to hearts of flesh , giving us a new spirit Ezekiel 36:26 which cooperates with the Holy Spirit of Truth which through our love and faith in Jesus and willingness to submit to His will, He is the one enabling us to keep His commandments. John 14:15-18

If we are arguing against obeying God's law (His version Exo 20:6) that He wrote in our heart , I would consider asking Jesus to take away our stony heart so we want to and can obey Him, just like He told us to. God will not force His law on anyone, we have to accept what He does in our heart to change us re-creating us in His image abiding in Him John 15:10 following His example 1 John 2:6

We can always reject this

John 15:6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

This is not where I would want to be when Jesus comes. Today is the day to hear His voice Heb 3:7-8 and submit to His good will what He placed in our hearts because staying is rebellion will only separate us from God Isa 59:2 just as it did 1/3 of the angels, just as it did Adam and Eve.

Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

Looks like you left out some context of what the New Covenant is established on

Heb 8:6 6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

We would be better served to look at what are those better promises instead of trying to create a whole new covenant established on better and new laws, when God said it has His law, now written in the heart and mind Heb 8:10
