I like the people and I learn a lot and I need something to do while watching progress bars at work.

I lurk more than post these days, but I've always enjoyed interfaith discussion (I belong to several different religious forums). I like learning about other religions, and I enjoy the opportunity to share information about my own religion - not with any intent to try to win converts, I have no interest in that, but more along the lines of being able to address misconceptions about my religion, that sort of thing.

Well in my case I see if there's something about Baha'i Faith I'll generally respond for purposes of clarification or information.. I'll occasionally post on another topic if I've had say some experience in it.. or have sources that may not be well known or appreciated.

I wouldn't say it's for purposes of enjoyment to be here because I often find what I regard as very strong negative attitudes...

We have lots of good discussions here, lots of different faiths communicate better here than I've seen on a lot of forums. I'm on some pagan and non-theist forums as well. This specific sub has a decent community, all things considered.

I was a Christian when I joined CF and so coming back as also been a bit of habit.

I "get" nothing out of this site. I "enjoy" nothing on this site.

I've posted some questions now and again. That is all I will do. I refuse to discuss anything with anyone here. I am tired of being ridiculed, threatened, attacked etc.

I see no respect for non-Christians and their various faiths here.

Yet you are still here.

I rarely look at the forum of a thread except to make sure I can post in it and to what extent. When coming on CF I first check "User CP" to see if there are any new posts in threads I am following. After that, I check "New Posts" for any interesting thread titles. If the title is interesting I hover over it and read the little bit that the site shows me. If my curiosity is peaked I then click on the thread to read it. If I decide to post, I then check the forum to see if I can post and to what extent.

It's a generally more relaxed place than some of the other sub forums on the site. Or at least I find myself spending considerably less time here debating over conspiracy theories involving Obama being a purple alien monster, or explaining why Roman Catholics aren't going to eat every Protestant's puppy.

Speaking of puppies. As of last week I adopted a super cute little (well, not THAT little) rescue puppy. /bragging

I once visited an atheist forum, it was pretty boring, we all pretty much agreed with the basics and the only differences were the tone various posters took while discussing religion.

So why do I come here? Posting on a forum where most people agree with you is really boring.

That's what I run into on pagan forums as well. Even if I on a less theistic bent, we all tend to be sort of liberal-ish or libertarian and agree that people shouldn't treat each other like crap over religion. It's good reading for learning about lots of different faith traditions and the experiences people have with rite and ritual for such things.

But since many of us agree on fundamentals it is less interesting than I had hoped.

Honestly, I just enjoy the people here. I mainly hang out i the singles forum, and I don't talk about God or religion very much. What I have in common with people there is that I have trouble with my singleness. A little off beat, and doomed to be alone forever, lol.

I don't care for atheist forums very much, I usually end up fighting with them, same with S&M people. I tend to get along better with religious people, people I don't share values with. Usually if I share values with someone we'll fight over petty stuff that means to much to us. I do much better with people I have little in common with. I don't necessarily develop deep relationships, but we do manage to coexist peacefully. They can rant about religious stuff, and I don't care, and I can rant about my stupid S&M stuff and they don't care. Most friends I have are amazed that they get along with someone who has so little in common with.

When I was a Christian I didn't get along with people on CF very well, that's because I was invested in Christianity, I had much to hate people over. As an atheist, I could really careless about religious issues. I'll let people speak their mind without putting up much of a fuss.
