  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do Christians hate Wicca(Witchcraft)?

I posted this in a similar thread, but I thought it suiting to post it here as well:I personally don't believe that being wiccan is right. I'm not condemning it, but I'm also not condoning it. I personally believe in the Bible and it's stance on it. But I'm not going to brow-beat a wiccan with it. I don't believe it is the "path" for me. I don't believe in a wiccan "goddess", but if there's someone that does, then that's their business. It's not my place to judge. But I do have friends that are wiccan, and we just agree to disagree.

Well, the worst part about it is that she does not know God. The Bible does speak against witchcraft, but I don't really feel that's even the main issue. A person could be a wonderful person who doesn't ever hurt anyone and does good deeds constantly, but God thinks of those deeds as dirty rags. They mean nothing without a relationship with Him.

So, the main thing is that a person who is practicing witchcraft is not worshipping God. That's enough right there.

Well I can only give my opinion on that one... there is only one truth... unfortunately, no one will know for sure till its too late
An intelligent mind on these forums? Impossible!

I commend you, JIC, for actually recognizing that you don't know what is right.

I'm a witch, and I'd love to know what the heck it is that Christians dislike about us.
I like you just fine, blondie. I can't say that there isn't anybody I dislike (bad, bad, shame on me) but I only dislike those who mistreat me. Heck, I even like WayMan and he can really sock it to me here on the boards! :)

Havoc - Well, it is a fact and some day you will realize that....hopefully not when it is too late. I find it quite interesting that in so many of these threads a person will ask "Why do Christians blieve xxx..." and then when a Christian replies the only thing the non-Christians can say is "That's what CHRISTIANS believe" or "That's not a good answer because I don't believe in God or the Bible". Why do people ask questions about what Christians believe and then want to argue about it? I realize you don't believe what I do. It's not an arguable point. I think the original poster probably appreciates the responses from Christians because that was what she was looking for. She doesn't care that you don't believe in God. She wanted to know "why Christians hate witches". Not "Tell me why Christians hate witches without bringing God or the Bible or Jesus into your answer".

Naw we usually just point out things like.

It's not a fact unless you can show that it is a fact with substantive evidence, otherwise it's just a belief that you mislabel by using the word "fact" incorrectly.

If you are unable to use words like fact and belief correctly, and that is the only way you can answer, then that points to a problem in your thinking, not in mine.

When we ask a question about what you believe and you respond with a statement, purported to be absolute truth when it's nothing more than belief, and use that to condemn us, well we have difficulty grovelling properly

I'm not condmning you, Havoc. I have no right or power to condemn anyone. And just so you know, my "opinion" doesn't even matter. The ONLY thing that matters is God's truth. I can think and believe whatever the heck I want, but God is the only one who is 100% correct 100% of the time. I can tell you over and over that you (as is every other person on the face of the Earth) are a sinner, no sin may enter heaven and the only way you will enter heaven is by repenting to God and making Him the Lord of your life and you don't have to listen to a thing I say. It IS God's truth, though. Not just my "opinion". Unfortunately, because you come here and hear the truth on a regular basis, you will be judged very harshly by God. Much more harshly than those who will never hear it. You have outright rejected God and He will remember that. Not to say that you may never repent. I will be praying that you do. You obviously have some doubt in your heart about what you believe or you would not spend so much time arguing with Christians. You obviously aren't trying to convert us...you're searching for answers. Please continue to search. Jeremiah 29:13 says "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Keep searching, friend. You will find Him. He wants you to.

Except, of course, that it's not the truth. You incorrectly mislabel it as the truth because you believe it and somehow uysing the proper words for a concept escapes most Christians.

If you can actually show that it is the truth by way of preponderance of substantive evidence then you might have a leg to stand on. Until then it is nothing more than one belief in a sea of beliefs.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for responding to my question (not that I want you to stop) it's given me quite alot to think about. However, I would like to say a few things. First of all, quotes from the Bible hold no water with me because I don't believe in what the Bible teaches. So it might be to your benefit to save yourself the typing and don't put the quotes in. Secondly, I'm very sorry for not responding to any of your questions, I'm very busy. Thirdly, to those of you who use the idea "love the sinner, hate the sin" you're just hating the 'sinner' anyways, because a person's beliefs shape who they are. If you have questions for me, I'll try to check the thread more often, but I'm pretty busy, so I can't promise anything. Once again thanks for responding, even if your response was negative, You're entitled to your opinions, I'll try to respect that. Oh, and what my friend meant by 'god murdering hundreds of people' was god allowing people to die everyday. Bye!

Who says a wiccan can not believe in god and jesus. I do not reject Jesus or God either, I just seek another way. I have foudn God as many other wiccans will say also. Just because the image of god and other such stuff is seen differently does not mean its different. My belief is the root of all religions are the same.and being the best person you can be, living in harmony with nature and everyone else and beign a good person.those kinda basic things most people do will please every god available.

I find I come to this site often because I enjoy talking about spirtual things, the only time I feel I have to debate is when misconceptions are being made. I am not trying to convert anyone and I am happy with my religion and wish to converse with other people who are happy with their religion and have different views, its interesting and makes me less ignorant. Ignorance is never bliss. A higher force has talked to us individually, and trying to make people believe your individual truth will never work.
