  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do Christians hate Wicca(Witchcraft)?

You might want to have a look at my testimony and then speak. I tried Christianity, for about two thirds of the entire time you've been alive.

What you're describing is a religious experience. Religious experience is not the sole purvue of Christianity. Practically all religions describe it just as fervently as you. Unless all religious experience is true one cannot be used as proof to the exclusion of others.
...you're quite right, and I know absolutely nothing about you. Show me to your testamony and I'll gladly give it a read. However, I'm not talking about a single experience, but an ongoing one, that never ends. A deep relationship with my Creator, that only deepens with time. And I can't imagine how anyone who knew Jesus in this way could ever walk away, but I'm more than willing to hear your story, if you're willing to tell, if not in the forums, then perhaps PMs or IMs...just a thought. I have had many other isloated religious experiences, with many other religions, in fact, but nothing that can compare to the all-encompassing love of God...but, I must ask, does time spent toward a thing prove it's worth, or rather the quality of that time? I'm certainly not judging you, however I've met many 'christians' who studied the religion, but yet had very little actual faith...and who also look at you like you have 3 eyes when you mention a personal relationship with Christ :p (and, yes, this has become a 'catch phrase' of late, but in my case, atleast, it's true  )...

That's okay. I doubt any Pagan will be swayed by one Christian, or a thousand, saying that our Gods aren't real. We know better. We experience them and we have faith in them. We see them everywhere that Christians see their God. We know Christians have no more proof than we do.

Our Gods are real, whether you believe in them or not. :)

Mind if I ask who your Gods are?

There are actions that are positive and there are actions which are negative and we will indeed reap what we sow. On a spiritual level I believe intent is everything, and so long as we are struggling for improvement. Working to live in harmony with our Divine nature and nature around us we are on the correct path.

I feel we Christians should hold to these values as well.

Why do you think it was dirrected at you? ;)

so hating the sin and not the sinner is like saying: I dont hate you, I hate your beliefs and all that you stand for.

I don't think LanceA is saying he hates anyone here, on the contrary, in his heart, it is out of his love for others that MAKES him want to help. Because I'm assuming in his heart, he doesn't want anyone to spend eternity in Hell.

(not that I believe anyone will actually go to Hell for eternity)

I for one don't hate Witches, some of my good friends are witches and I love them. I don't agree however with the things they are doing, because the bible clearly states that witchcraft is evil and that there is no excuse for practicing it.
We as christians don't need witchcraft to do things for us becuase we have God to fill those places that even witches find empty.

Emptiness is not religion related but spiritual related. There are a lot of empty Christians and Pagans out there. And there are a lot of spiritually filled Christians and Pagans. Worship fills the void if the worship is for good. There are peaceful Christians and Witches and there are some downright hateful Christians and Witches. It's all about where the heart is and what the heart is focused on. That's what God looks at anyway. Our hearts.

Havoc - How can we read your testimony?
WEll there are snippets here and there. The parts most germaine to the conversation are here

http://www.christianforums.com/showthread.php?p=1273574&postcount=154

a couple of things to add

I was a Christian for 20 years, if you count from birth, or 15 years if you count from moment of "salvation". I grew up and studied in a Fundamentalist Baptist church. I have two years of pre-seminary and one year of Baptist Seminary.

I have been a Witch now for 15 years this last October. I am an ordained Minister and I am an occasional guest lecturer at local Colleges and Universities.

Havoc - I am in no means trying to start a debate here. I just read the link you posted and I am just wondering how you were expecting God to answer. Were you waiting for a "sign"? When you asked for the anointing of the holy spirit were you wanting a sign like tongues or prophesy or something. I'm just curious.

I also believe that if you (or I) decide to cry out to the "universe" you will get an answer every time. Satan is going to reply to any call that is not to God. So, I totally believe you when you say you got an answer, it just scares me that you don't know who answered you.

So, did you turn to witchcraft fairly soon after salvation? It looks from what you typed that you were saved 15 years ago and became a witch 15 years ago. If so, it's not at all surprising to me. Satan loves to attack those who are new in the Lord. It really doesn't matter that you were born into your church or went there for 20 years. That doesn't make you a Christian. You become a Christian when you consiously decide to follow Jesus. Satan freaks out when a person makes that kind of decision and is going to try to make you question your faith. Looks like he did a great job. If you are talking about all the prayers you said before salvation, they probably weren't answered because He wasn't listening. You didn't even believe in Him yet, why would He listen?

Anyway, if you wouldn't mind answering that question from my first paragraph, that would be cool. I think I just don't understand what you were looking for.

Actually, from what I read, it appears that Havoc was 5 years old when he was saved, and was a Christian for 15 years after that. He is 41 years old according to his bio and has been a Witch for the last 15 years. So, he stopped being a Christian when he was about 20 and became a Witch when he was about 26.

That is correct. Sorry for no making that more clear.

When I was waiting I didn't really have a good idea of how God would "reveal himself to me. From reading the Bible and listening to other people's testimony I pretty much decided that if I was sincere enough and open enough to God it would be obvious to me when it happened. That is what I was taught then, and in fact what is told to me practically every day here. In 15 years I pretty much covered every base there was.

As far as not believeing I really did believe. I believed enough to claim the promises. I believed enough to ask God to help my unbelief. I believed enough to blame myself for God's failure to answer me. I believed enough to weep for hours on my knees in prayer. Yes I did believe, but 15 years of nothing is enough to make anyone question their belief.

When my prayers were answered, they were answered immediately by God, and Goddess. It was then I ralised they had been ready to answer all along, I had just been praying to the wrong God for me.

Mind if I ask, what prayers did your Gods answer that God of the bible couldn't?

And might I add, in my opinion, fundimentalist may have been the wrong choice. if that was YOUR choice.

PS. I've been saved for about 15 years myself and all I've seen was tons of archeological evidence for the Bible. But that is were my patiance comes in. Because I had faith in "according to what my work shall be"

Lately, reading about NDE's has revealed alot about that WAITING.

--Go ahead. :D

I have four Gods I personally honor, the Goddesses Isis and Nut of Egypt, a God of humor and joy, and a God of the Day who is roughly equivalent to the Wiccan God.

Are those Gods, beings that really exist?

Aren't they ALL wiccan Gods?

Forgive my ignorance.
