Why are Churches so lax on food/health?

God did NOT create high-fructose corn syrup and artificial flavors that are produced in factories, so it is not good. He created fruits and vegetables as it was in the garden of Eve, and he created animals (meat) which we are allowed to eat now.
I can eat bacon every day if i wish, but its not healthy. But what about the temple? Am i destroying it? No. Food doesnt destroy the temple, sin does.

Incorrect. Eating bacon and junk food everyday is gluttony, and that is a sin. You are destroying it, and the proof is when you get sick from eating junk everyday.

Also, it's not food.

Eating bacon every day is not gluttony.
Yes it is. Eating a lot of a bad thing everyday is gluttony. You are destroying your body.

I don't want to argue about this, but I do pray one day you will get convicted of it, as I have been convicted after drinking sodas on a daily basis.

Healthy eating is definitely a big part of the Christian lifestyle. No I'm not claiming it is required for salvation, that is through faith by grace alone. But it is a vital part of the Christian lifestyle and often evidence that comes from a person being born-again. Maybe not right away, but eventually they get convicted and realize we are meant to eat what God provided us to eat, not the world.

"For lack of knowledge (spiritual truth and physical also)
"My people (not just the worldly) perish ! "

Why ? How many times in God's Word is it written the whole world is deceived,
and also by whom it is deceived ?

the citation in the OP doesn't really have much to do with dieting but in it's immediate context is dealing with the issue of sexual immorality.

still, there is something to be said on how we treat our bodies in being good stewards of what the LORD has given us.

No its not. Is eating veggies every day gluttony as well? No and neither is bacon.
We require to eat veggies everyday to survive. We do not require to eat bacon everyday which is unhealthy to survive. If you don't understand the difference, then I honestly have no more words for you. I cannot believe you think it's ok to eat junk food everyday.

You are taking the verse out of context. Everybody knows we are saved by grace through faith. Does that mean you should stuff sugar and junk food in your body because you are going to heaven anyway? NO and God would not like that. You are not to destroy the temple, and it is sinful.

Hebrews 13:9 Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited. 10
So you think God blesses you to eat junk food on a daily basis and there will be no consequences for it? Are you really that foolish? You think diabetes, cancer, and heart disease are caused by things other than diet? Please tell me you are kidding?

Going back to the original topic. We are to treat our bodies as temples of the holy spirit and make wise decisions and be healthy. The bible talks against carnality. We are not animals, we should pay attention what goes into our bodies and not be of carnal mind.

Misspending money is not a sin either, but there are wise choices and there are foolish choices.

A Born-Again Christian who lives foolishly will still make it into Heaven. They will just be more beat-up than they needed to be. At that point, purity isn't the issue.

The only mention of destroying the temple in scripture refers to sectarianism in the body of Christ and also fornication. Its not about food, never has been and never will be.

Depends on how it is done, why it is done and the purpose behind it, I think the bottom line is for everything there is a season, there is cause for righteous celebration, there is a cause for mourning there is a time for every purpose under heaven, we have to find the right balance of things.

Proverbs 23:20-21 King James Version (KJV)
20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:

21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

Luke 15: 23-24

23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

You misunderstand me. Im saying food has nothing to do with holiness or godliness.

Romans 8:6-11 (about the carnal mind)

"For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God"

Avoid fleshly, carnal desires.

As long as we agree that eating food is not a sin i can agree that we can make wise choices about what we eat. Having said that, a man who eats wisely can be a fool in other things. If that man says its a sin to eat food then he is not speaking wisely.

I have attended many churches and every one I've been to I saw they feed people things like donuts, cakes, chips, etc. A lot of sugar and bad foods.
I don't see what's wrong with donuts, cakes, chips, etc. Everything in moderation.

Maybe when it comes to your own mirror, it's just you who have a problem with such things.
