We need more human connections between Russia and the West.Don't think Russia will currently, not with Putin and his ilk at the lead.
Granting somebody a seat in the legislature of a entity they are not a member of is neither free speech or democracy. It's like saying that NATO countries should have seats in the Duma.If you believe in democracy and free speech,
let them vote and let them speak.
Russia and Ukraine are European countries.Granting somebody a seat in the legislature of a entity they are not a member of is neither free speech or democracy. It's like saying that NATO countries should have seats in the Duma.
Granted, but just giving them a seat in the EU without them meeting the requirements for EU membership does not help. They have to show interest in meeting us more than half way.We need more human connections between Russia and the West.
there are things that people will fight for.
At this point people are afraid to learn the Russian language.Granted, but just giving them a seat in the EU without them meeting the requirements for EU membership does not help. They have to show interest in meeting us more than half way.
A unconditional Russian withdrawal from all the territories of Ukraine including Crimea.Where is the starting point?
Russia could try to be friendlier and more open. Stop trying to make the Russian Empire. At this point people are afraid to learn the Russian language.
People are afraid to visit Russia.
Where is the starting point?
No, but at what point do you fight, and at what point do you just take it?That's a very pragmatic view. But just because people do things does not mean those things are right to do.
Just because one surrenders to the Russians that is not a guarantee of the end of bloodshed, see katyn, nor an end to expansionism. That's a very pragmatic view. But just because people do things does not mean those things are right to do.

The price of freedom is not always blood, but it is most of the time.
In the context of the Ukraine War, Russia is the one that invaded and Ukraine has a right to defend. I understand not wanting the bloodshed, but Russia has made it clear, they wanted Ukraine. And I don't blame Ukraine wanting to push Russia out, and into the Black Sea in some cases.Well, maybe, maybe not. Freedom does usually come with some cost. On that, I agree. In fact, it's a very Christian idea. Limits are good for us. It's like providing structure for children. The children don't always like it, but it is good for them.
Who should I vote for to end the war in Ukraine?
Exactly, Democracy vs Autocracy is what the geopolitical delegation of power is about. As an autocrat Putin doesn't allow political free speech that criticizes his policies. Instead, he only allows his propaganda. For example, in Russia it's against the law to call the war a war.If you believe in democracy and free speech,
let them vote and let them speak.
Was it possible for Russia to turn back on the water to Crimea,Exactly, Democracy vs Autocracy is what the geopolitical delegation of power is about. Sure, they could have ended their illegal occupation of annexed land. Was it possible for Russia to turn back on the water to Crimea,
without doing the war?
After the Soviet Union ended,Russia has shown no interest in democracy.
