It's part of his mystery I guess. We don't know everything. I feel like a fool and I dont know what I do. I'm forced to walk by faith not sight. I feel like a fool but I hope it's for the sake of the Lord. I don't mind being his fool. I just dont want to be my own. But we seek God's face I think.

John 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

1 Corinthians 2:And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.[a] 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power

I'm reminded of how the apostles were fools for the Lord's sake and others actually thought they were better than Paul. How could they think that? He showed God's power. So while I don't know what I do and I just follow what I see, I take comfort in that.

Yup. Jesus said that the Pharisees believed the Talmud over scripture. Paul was a Pharisee and he agreed with Jesus after his conversion but ikilled Christians before his conversion.

The Talmud is a creation of the scribes and Pharisees. They started creating it approximately 400 years before Jesus' day. They did this to, in their own words, create a hedge about the law.

Here is a quote from a Jew who became a Christian. His name was F.C. Gilbert and he wrote several books. This quote comes from his book Practical Lessons from the Experience of Israel.

I have e=book copies of parts of the Talmud and the Pharisees had thousands of laws covering every aspect of human behavior. There are literally hundreds of laws concerning washing your hands and doing dishes. They were extremely legalistic and had no love for their fellow man,.
Wow that was fantastic share!
Here I thought that they made the Talmud because it was their spoken word finally being written down and contained additional material that isn't in the Torah and they were attempting to preserve things as they are always being punished by God for not obeying and a lot of their punishment was slavery, exile and death.
That is quite interesting thank you. Disturbingly what surprised me wasn't shocking, what else is to be expected...

Have we entered His rest? If so then why are we pushing Moses law? That was a heavy burden. Can we not see this in scripture? Does this prove that we have not yet entered his rest? Jesus is where we find our rest. Only in him alone.
Jesus is God's word made flesh and the Mosaic Law is God's word, so it is contradictory to think that we find rest in him alone instead of finding rest in obeying the Mosaic Law. Jesus set a sinless example for us to follow of how to walk in obedience to row Mosaic Law, and in Matthew 11:28-30, he was inviting people to come to him for rest and to learn from him, not inviting people to come to him for rest instead of learning from him. Moreover, by Jesus saying that we would find rest for our souls, he was referencing Jeremiah 6:16-19, where the Mosaic Law is described as the good way where we will find rest for our souls.

In 1 John 5:3, to love God is to obey His commandments, which are not burdensome. In Deuteronomy 30:11-16, it says that the Mosaic Law is not too difficult for us to obey and that obedience to it brings life, and Romans 10:5-8 references that passage aa the word of faith that we proclaim, so saying that the Mosaic Law is a heavy burden is in direct disagreement with God. Furthermore, the Psalms express an extremely positive view of the Mosaic Law, such as with David repeatedly saying that he loved it and delighted in obeying it, so if we consider the Psalms to be Scripture and to therefore express a correct view of the Mosaic Law, then we will share it as Paul did (Romans 7:22), while the view that the Mosaic Law is a heavy burden is incompatible with the view that the Psalms are Scripture. For example, in Psalms 1:1-2, blessed are those delight in the Mosaic Law and who meditate on it day and night, so we can't believe in the truth of these words as Scripture while not allowing them to shape our view of the Mosaic Law and we should not interpret the NT authors as though they held a view of the Mosaic Law that is incompatible with the truth of this verse.

Acts 15 And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” 2 Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem, to the apostles and elders, about this question.

3 So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren. 4 And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders; and they reported all things that God had done with them. 5 But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”

The Jerusalem Council

6 Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter. 7 And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: “Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. 8 So God, who knows the heart, [a]acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, 9 and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. 10 Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they.”

12 Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring how many miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles. 13 And after they had [c]become silent, James answered, saying, “Men and brethren, listen to me: 14 Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. 15 And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written:

16 ‘After this I will return

And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down;

I will rebuild its ruins,

And I will set it up;

17 So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord,

Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name,

Says the [d]Lord who does all these things.’

18 [e]“Known to God from eternity are all His works. 19 Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, 20 but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from [f]sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. 21 For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

The Jerusalem Decree

22 Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas,[g] and Silas, leading men among the brethren.

23 They wrote this letter by them:

The apostles, the elders, and the brethren,

To the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia:

Greetings.

24 Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, [h]saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law”—to whom we gave no such commandment— 25 it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth. 28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: 29 that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual[j] immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.
In Acts 15:11, it makes it clear that what was being referred to as a heavy burden in Acts 15:10 was not the Mosaic Law, but a means of salvation that was an alternative to salvation by grace, namely salvation by circumcision that was proposed by the men from Judea in Acts 15:1.

1 Corinthians 13:9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is [a]perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

I need to share this. You will no
doubt think I may be a fool. The Lord knows I hope in him so if I am a fool let it be for him. Years ago I saw all the confusion on the internet. I saw people following their apostles and teachers and no one agreed. I said to the Lord make me a prophet to help them see. Now you see why I said that all of John's words are true. I do feel like a fool here But if I am a fool I am one for his sake.

John 14:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. 2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue[a] does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.

I think we just see it differently but that’s cool. We probably agree on much more than we disagree upon.

I don’t think whether we worship on Saturday or Sunday says anything about God. He remains the same regardless. What does it say about him? That he prefers that we rest on Saturday because he likes college football better than the NFL?
God commanded to keep the 7th day holy, not to worship on a particular day. The Israelites worshiped God on every day, which included worshiping God on Sunday and obeying His command to keep the 7th day holy. In 1 Peter 1:16, we are told to be holy for God is holy, which is a quote from Leviticus where God was giving instructions for how to do that, which includes keeping His Sabbaths holy (Leviticus 19:2-3) and refraining from eating unclean animals (Leviticus 11:44-45), so those eternal instructions teach us about His eternal holiness, and if God were not holy, then He would not have given those instructions.

I understand your viewpoint and it’s perfectly cool with me. If you believe that all of the OT laws are applicable to you, then I understand how you feel that you have to follow them.
Our obligation to obey what God has commanded is based on His sovereignty, not based on what what we believe or feel.

But again - I don’t view the mosaic law as binding on Christians. I am not a Jew. I was not circumcised into the Jewish faith.
Christ spent his ministry teaching his followers to obey the Mosaic Law by word and by example, so while Gentiles do not need to become Jews in order to follow him, Gentiles can't follow him by refusing to follow what he taught. Following Jesus is not just for Jews, but for Gentiles too.

I think that Jesus created an entirely new Kingdom (which I believe is the Catholic Church with Peter as the first pope) with its own unique set of rules that are binding on Christians. There is some overlap between what is binding on Jews and what is binding on Christians, but not everything that is binding on Jews is binding on Christians, which is why I can eat pork and can worship on Sunday instead of Saturday.
In Matthew 4:15-23, Jesus began his ministry with the Gospel message to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand, and the Mosaic Law was how his audience knew what sin is (Romans 3:20), so repenting from our disobedience to it is a central part of the Gospel of the Kingdom, which is in accordance with Jesus being sent in fulfillment of the promise to bless us by turning us from our wickedness (Acts 3:25-26), which is the Gospel of the Kingdom that was made known in advance to Abraham in accordance with the promise (Galatians 3:8), and which he taught to Gentiles in Haran in accordance with the promise (Genesis 12:1-5), so Jesus was not creating an entirely new Kingdom with its own unique set of rules. By refusing to follow God's instructions for how to be holy as He is holy, you are treating God as if He were not holy.

And I more or less believe that Jesus granted certain men (the apostles and their successors) with authority to set the rules in the new Kingdom, and that the Holy Spirit guides them such that they teach nothing contrary to God’s will.
In Deuteronomy 13:1-5, the way that God instructed His people to determine that someone is a false prophet who was not speaking for Him was if they taught against obeying the Mosaic Law, so if Jesus and the Apostles had done as you suggest, then those who consider them to be false prophets would be correctly acting in accordance with what God has instructed them to do. In Ezekiel 36:26-27, the Holy Spirit as the role of leading us to obey the Mosaic Law and in Psalms 40:8, the Father has straightforwardly made His will known through the Mosaic Law.

Basically I subscribe to a distinction between the old law and the new law. The old is not applicable to Christians and was never intended to be.
Christ spent his ministry teaching his followers to obey the Mosaic Law by word and by example and what Christ taught is applicable to Christians and has always been intended to be.

Now, you disagree with that of course and I’m sure you have some Scripture verses to prove your view, and that’s cool. But I interpret the Bible differently than you. I think that’s what it comes down to but there is still a lot that we can agree on.
The purpose of a Bible discussion forum is to discuss how we interpret the Bible differently. If we all interpreted the Bible in the same way, then there would be no point in discussing theology.

I left Egypt, Rome, and Babylon. All three. Unlike the uncircumcised hearts of the Jews I heard the prophet Jeremiah speak God's holy command. I heard Daniel and Revelation as well. I obeyed the Lord.

Romans 3:Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will [a]bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

Love Your Neighbor

8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” [b]“You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Put on Christ

11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk [c]properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

This feels like cut and paste or the rehashing of old material. It feels like a chatbot is responding to me with a bunch of preprogrammed responses and memorized verses.

It’s not really what I would call a conversation or a discussion, at least not one that I would like to have.

I mean, it sounds as if you are speaking at me instead of speaking to me, just rejecting everything I have to say without trying to find any common ground or agreement. It is you wanting to debate and convince me that you are right and I am wrong, as opposed to us having a discussion. It feels as if you are barking orders at me as if I were a child and you are the teacher who needs to correct me.

But the reality is that I have considered your arguments and I reject them, just as you have considered my viewpoint and rejected it. I think you are wrong and I don’t feel any particular need to offer a time-consuming point-by-point rebuttal of everything you write. I would rather spend that time doing something else.

Now, some folks will be happy to engage in that type of “discussion” with you but it isn’t very interesting to me honestly. My goal was to understand your view on the matter and I have done that. I hope you have a blessed day and I mean that sincerely.

God could have commanded His people to keep every day holy if He had wanted and if that made sense, but He did not, but rather He commanded to keep the 7th day holy. A day that is holy is a day that is set apart and in order for a day to be set apart there needs to be a day that it is set apart from, so to treat every day the same is to treat none of them as holy. If we did on every day what God wants us to do on the Sabbath, then we would do no work, but God also wants us to work. Christ walked in obedience to the Mosaic Law, including keeping the 7th day holy, and in 1 John 2:6, those who are in Christ are obligated to walk in the same way he walked. There are many verses that describe the Mosaic Law as being God's way, such as Deuteronomy 10:12-13, Isaiah 2:2-3, 1 Kings 2:1-3, Joshua 22:5, Psalms 103:7, Psalms 119:1-3, and many others.

Having a circumcised heart refers only to someone who is living in obedience to the Mosaic Law (Deuteronomy 10:12-16, Deuteronomy 30:6, Jeremiah 9:26, Romans 2:25-29).

God does command his people to be holy everyday. He says be holy because he is holy. Scripture clearly says God is holy and he has absolutely no fellowship with darkness. But they didn't obey God. They grumbled and wanted Egypt. They also didn't come out and be separate as he commanded. They instead was an unfaithful and abusive wife to God. They served idols and their demons. I know i dont want to walk the path of their stiffnecked folly. Scripture teaches us not to be like them.

1 Corinthians 10:2 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.

6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. 7 And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” 8 Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; 9 nor let us [a]tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; 10 nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer. 11 Now [b]all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our [c]admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to [d]bear it.

Flee from Idolatry

14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the [e]communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.

18 Observe Israel after the flesh: Are not those who eat of the sacrifices [f]partakers of the altar? 19 What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? 20 Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons. 22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

All to the Glory of God

23 All things are lawful [g]for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things [h]edify. 24 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.

25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience’ sake; 26 for “the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.”

27 If any of those who do not believe invites you to dinner, and you desire to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience’ sake. 28 But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for conscience’ sake; [i]for “the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.” 29 “Conscience,” I say, not your own, but that of the other. For why is my liberty judged by another man’s conscience? 30 But if I partake with thanks, why am I evil spoken of for the food over which I give thanks?

31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

2 Timothy 3:1 But know this, that in the last days [a]perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

The Man of God and the Word of God

10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
