I have been seeing about the plague of mice in the news. It looks really terrible. I hope they are not in your house, as well.

None in the house so far. 8^)

Our beautiful flowers are all out in bloom in the UK but days of torrential rain has flattened them all, especially load bearing plants like lupins who couldn't take the strain of being heavily saturated.
Rose bushes are hanging their heads like jilted lovers!
After a terrific heatwave, we are now back to wearing jumpers and putting the heating on!

Spring has sprung here and flowers are out and looking pretty. The roses are going well so far too. The weather is back and forth a lot, though, so you tend to snatch at an afternoon to get a bit of weeding done.

So far I hate this new site. My avatar is butchered! I tried to click on statement of faith to no avail. I can't tell a lower case L from an uppercase I.
It certainly is a change and I am slowly adjusting. As they say, change is rarely for the better.

Yes, I find it no problem on the laptop, but my phone doesn't like the new format at all.

It is winter here in the UK and not too cold. The worst of the weather comes after Christmas.
I have a gardener now my husband has died, and he is so helpful. The lawn is trimmed, and Scarborough lilies, pink and some red, brighten up a winter's day.

Yes, I read about your husband, and I am very sorry that happened. I hope you are journeying well, under the circumstances.

Those lilies are lovely and such a beautiful colour, mp. So good to have colour in the garden in winter time. I'm glad you have a gardener chap to take care of the heavier work for you. My husband or my son, who lives with us, cuts the lawns here, thankfully. It's been warmer here, but our weather is very volatile at the moment. It's been rare to have a full day of warm sunshine and no wind at all.

it has been grey today after a misty start and fairly warm. The acers in the garden provide colour and the Scarborough lilies.
I have 3 Christmas cactus in full flower, I must take a photo tomorrow.

We've had rain and wind these last few days. I managed to snatch an hour or so in the garden yesterday, but generally, it's been horrid out there. Typical Spring weather for us. I do love a colourful garden. We have a copper beech tree which provides wonderful colour, especially when the sun is shining. It gleams in the sunlight so beautifully. We also have a small weeping japanese maple, with gorgeously coloured foliage at this time of year. :)

We moved house a couple of years ago and the garden looked nice but was really sterile because the borders were gravel with a membrane underneath. There were no worms or insects.
I set to with a compost bin and the membrane and gravel are gone now. We’re gradually seeing more birds in the garden and the borders are filling up with a mix of veggies and herbs and flowers

I had my front yard planted in phlox last summer. I was told that it would be in bloom for a couple of weeks in spring. The little baby phlox plants were cute, but required a lot of watering and weeding. As predicted, the phlox bloomed this spring - not for two weeks - but for at least a month. It is still in full bloom and has attracted many compliments.

Also, my mock orange shrubs, which are intense dark red, were excellent this springs, as were my daffodils, tulips and hyacinths. My hostas are thriving. My yellow irises are in full bloom now, but the purple irises won't come out for at least a couple of weeks.

I love your choice of plants.
Do you grow fuchsia?
I also love to grow herbs

Thank you. Fuchsia is beautiful and I have thought about it. I have a couple of hanging baskets of annuals that I will be putting out soon. I have typically kept to impatiens because it has been easy to keep.

Also, I forgot to mention my lilac bush which is now coming into full bloom.

Herbs are great, but I don't have enough space for them. I have a pretty small house lot.

Your gardens sound lovely! :cherryblossom:

One thing I do not have is a 'green thumb'* ... nor always the strength (or desire) to do all the hard work that a beautiful garden requires ... but it sounds like both of you are doing your 'parts' to make the world alittle more beautiful. where you are!

*When I lived in Oklahoma, my 'garden' consisted of many many prickly pear cactus. I really do like cactus plants (yes, they are very low maintenance, too!), and my garden was beautiful (to me!), especially when the cactus would bloom in late Spring/early Summer ...

That is really beautiful. I lived in Denver for several years and discovered, much to my dismay, that there was extreme peer pressure to have the perfect lawn of green grass, which required watering every third day (because of water restrictions) all year round. I would have preferred a yard with cacti like yours, which would have been much more environmentally sound, but I feared the backlash. As a result I moved back to Iowa where I am able to indulge in my love for flowers.
