For me as a teacher my last name is what I’m known by. I have shirts, decorations, engraved cups, pens, friendship bracelets from kids all with my last name on it. I would be sad to give it all up if I didn’t have to.
Yeah, I think most of my teachers by their last names rathe than their first names. It's something that is almost pogrommed in us.

It’s possible to just retain both surnames too.

That’s very common in academia where you’ve published research, and especially common in medicine for the same reason.

Most people at work go by their birth surnames but are married.
I've seen some women who kept their maiden name after getting their Phd, then, get married and do not take their husband's last name.

I knew a woman who had her children take her last name and not her husband's last name.

Yeah it’s very common, especially once publications or professional reputation is involved.

:):yellowheart:I'm okay. :) I was successful at my interview with Materion in Niagara Falls last week - quite the long distance for a knight to journey and defeat the evil dragon! - and offered the job yesterday, but unless my old job does not take me back when I interview hopefully this Friday, I fear I must turn it down, due almost entirely for financial reasons and the fact that the daily environment there looks to be a bit of an oppressive experience with no music allowed. Everyone I met there seemed nice, so that's a plus, but still, I must consider the money aspect.

You had the money you wanted elsewhere but the thing you desired most evaded you. The cost of living in Buffalo is much lower in respect to the state and they're family oriented. I know someone who lives there who met their spouse in the area and married at 28.

Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone or make a sacrifice to accomplish your goal. The population is the 49th largest in America. You'll have numerous opportunities to make friends and meet prospects.

You're an excellent employee and that will be evident to others. You aren't married to the position and you're free to consider others in a year's time if the raise isn't to your liking. This is a foot in the door and should be seen in its proper context. Nor should you assume things will be similar to your previous job. Most places don't play music in the office. That's an exception not the rule. A professional environment can alleviate other issues.

I watched someone do what you did years ago. He was close to your age when he left and I advised him not to go. His prospects would have been better in this vicinity than a more expensive one. But he went back home and now he's in his fifties and doesn't think he'll marry. The challenges he has today he didn't have ten years ago.

He made more money but never met the caliber of women he encountered here. He was in a marriage minded church with lots of singles and it was huge. It was the 10th largest in the nation and he was well liked. But he gave it up for nostalgia's sake and nothing went right.

The Lord wouldn't open a door He wouldn't sustain. You're looking at the salary when you're supposed to be asking Him to make up the difference. If He brought you there it's His responsibility to keep you. Not yours.

You need an altar. That's how it should have been handled but I don't have time to get into it. I wanted to reply given your deadline. Designate a place in your home for prayer. A room or chair you won't use for anything but prayer alone.

Consecrate it by dedicating it for that purpose aloud and ask the Lord to meet you in that place. Once you do have a seat and pray. Thank Him for His love and grace and the opportunity He provided. Lay out your concerns. Financial and romantic and ask for His guidance.

Then tell Him, "bella said, the altar provides for the household. I don't understand what that means but she does. She told me to create an altar and dedicate it and meet You in this place from now on. And as a priest in your service I'm requesting the provision the altar provides and instruction on its maintenance."

Before you do this list all your bills and what you pay and the balance. Once you repeat the statement pray the list to Him. Close and you're done. From this point onward, all income you receive is taken to the altar and blessed. You don't need a physical check. The intent is what matters. Do the same for bills. Gather them and pray as you did before.

There's another element that can bring in the missing part. I'll peek for your response. If you take the job I'll tell you what to pray for the remainder. And no it isn't a coincidence I saw your post or had the information you lack. Have faith. :yellowheart:

.....

Just an fyi, this prayer is for SK. If you want to do the same you can but you can't invoke my name. I'm standing in the gap for him and its a spiritual agreement I made on his behalf because of the urgency. But it won't apply to others. That might not be evident to some.

I'm surprised her children didn't take the father's last name. Oh well. None of my business anyway.

I come across the image of a particular person in my Facebook feed often these last few months, on behalf of a charity known as No Baby Blisters. She is a little girl named Lily, who suffers from a dreadfully painful condition known as
Epidermolysis bullosa. I have heard it called "Butterfly Skin Disease", and it's pretty much what you are probably imagining from the name. I feel compelled to pray for Lily's eventual healing whenever these posts show up, for this is daily physical pain that she and those like her must suffer through, so may I ask that you all pray for her as well.
