Marriage and Celibacy/Singleness are not apposed nor at odds. Both require grace from The Lord in order to walk down each respective path (Matt 19:8-11, Matt 19:6). Therefore, nobody can boast about either as being higher or greater in stature or devotion than another; as both are gifts from The Lord (1 Cor 7:7). Also, I personally believe that to stay beholden to a single partner in marriage is to be the equivalent of single or celibate. I cannot state it with absolute certainty but I personally believe that they are the same thing in essence or at least relatable in essence, as they are both designated desires of The Lord for His children. That equivalent essence being: That to be married to a person without committing adultery (Matt 5:32) is to be single and celibate before The Lord and vice versa. Also that nobody can boast about either course. For example, there are people who have who have been married, like Martin Luther, who have been used powerfully by The Lord. I don’t use the example of the Apostles, though they are examples of higher caliber, because I wanted to use an ordinary man (faults and all) equivalent to us in the modern day.
Therefore, being married or celibate does not somehow make you more holy, better or greater than another soul. For God loves all of His children and has died, risen & ascended to remove all of our sin; those sinful transgressions which renders us guilty of transgressing the whole law by breaking a single one (James 2:10).
Sorry for the long ramblings on this light-hearted thread. If they're too long or not in keeping with the nature of it then please correct me. Unfortunately for me what's 'on my mind' is either crappy jokes or long form discussion, which doesn't really translate to the singles only part of CF

. Anyway I'm taking a break for about a week, so I hope you all have a good week yourselves & enjoy the rest of the weekend. God bless and please pray for my neighbour & her family who is having a funeral for her husband on the 10th (9th for Americans; Aussies live in the future

) and also for my brother who has contracted a severe case of gastro and may have to be hospitalised very soon.
