Honestly, Pee-wee scared me as a kid. His weird mannerisms... all that makeup. Although as an adult, I can better appreciate his character. Even though I hate his first film.. which I'm not sure why.. Tim Burton (besides a few movies like Ed Wood which I love) never sat well with me.
This. I thought he was creepy and gross and still do as an adult.

Have you seen his Netflix film? I think it's probably the last Pee-wee movie. I liked him in that. He seemed less creepy in that. I think maybe they figured out a way to make his character less unseemingly.

Although today I kind of realized... he might have inspired the character of Spongebob Squarepants. Which is cool.

No, I've never voluntarily watched anything of his since childhood.

Sad to hear the Peewee Herman died.

Really enjoyed his Netflix film. Which surprised me because I really hate his original Tim Burton one. Don't remember watching his show as a kid.. never saw him in much.. yet his presence was still somehow relevant to my childhood.

RIP.

I was never a Peewee fan, but it's still a loss for fans of him and his show, even more so for his loved ones who knew him personally. :(

The sound of crickets and frogs all singing at night in late summer and early autumn makes me so happy! I don't know why. It's just such a beautiful, nostalgic sound that seems associated with many fond memories for me or something. It's like Nature's lullaby.

My parents have a pond on their property, and you can hear so many frogs at night during the summer months. They are really noisy, haha

I would insert the "Tight Pants" skit from Jimmy Fallon here except it does have one no-no word in it, lol.
What about Tight Pants/Body Rolls? I feel like that deserves a resurgence.

The Lord is with you always . Is there anything I (or we) can pray about for you?

Aw! That is so sweet! Thank you for caring! Just some prayers for my family would be greatly appreciated.

That feel when your pants hits your legs and your brain does the "SPIDER!" response. I'm waiting for the day for it to be an actual huntsman spider (don't google them) and just about break the sound barrier while simultaneously running head first through several doors to escape.

Hey guys I need some advice from some people who've been on the website a while. This might be the wrong thread but I'm not sure where else to stick it. I made a new thread in the hopes that it would edify some people and provide genuine discourse but I'm at the point where I begin to start rephrasing and restating the points made in the thread over and over because people are missing them, are not seeing the issues with their own arguments or don't understand because I phrased and structured it poorly. I thought I had the mental capacity to keep it up but I honestly am so drained from doing it and it requires so much time to carefully think through each individuals arguments and respond not only Biblically but Philosophically (philosophy subject to Scripture though).

I had this same problem before with the old thread on the same topic I made and I don't know why I thought this one would be different. Would it be considered wrong or rude to abandon the thread early into it's creation? I feel like I've made all the points I can and everything else would just be a re-iteration of the same points made because no new arguments are being presented and I know for a fact from the last thread that it's only going to be this way if I do continue to respond. This is the thread: Establishing Secular Morality. Be aware that it does discuss some pretty heavy moral issues so if you've been impacted by evil in the past and don't want to think about it right now it might be best to avoid it.

If it's your guys opinion that I should continue to respond as best I can then please be honest with me and I would be more than happy to put more time into it. We're called to be able to give a defense for our faith (1 Peter 3:15) so I treat this pretty seriously, for if it even effects one soul in the future it might have eternal repercussions. If you don't feel like giving your advice publicly please feel free to message me. I would appreciate all of the points of view/perspectives I can get. Also please don't be put off by the nature of the thread and feel like you can't give advice. The Holy Spirit speaks through the illiterate all the way to the most erudite scholar, so your opinion is really important. Just think of the background of the Disciples. God bless .

I would say that if you feel you have shared everything you can think of and have made your main points, that you aren't bailing on the conversation if you withdraw from posting. Perhaps others will find your thread and share a new perspective that supports your position. You could just post in the thread that you have shared all your main points and you welcome others to continue to make their arguments. I'm not really familiar with that area of the forum. Is this a formal debate thread? Different rules or posting etiquette may apply in a formal debate thread. If a thread becomes overwhelming to continue to post in, I don't think you are obligated to keep it going.

I get what you're saying. Don't worry if you don't want to engage. You're under no obligation and it's not like there's a strict posting ethic that demands you respond. You never know; it might take off on its own.

I read your post, and I have so many questions and areas I could explore, but it takes concentration and effort. That's not easy, especially if you're trying to have a thread with "good faith" engagement, as you explicitly stated. I didn't reply because I don't have that kind of energy today, and it looked like folks would like to explore Also I type on a phone, which hampers my excitement for prolonged engagement. I tend to make remarks and move on, hoping I don't get caught and have to thumb type forever.

No it's not a formal debate thread, from what I've seen they've made those sub-forums read only now. I think it's just a general discussion and debate area.

I'm ok with people not posting in good faith as personally it gives an opportunity to show why the type of thinking can be shallow (even if it can be a bit annoying). However what really gets me and makes me feel drained is when I've addressed their arguments in the OP itself and then have to re-write in a different way to answer the objections in hope they see the argument, only to have the majority of the post & crucial points ignored or overlooked. I remember expressing those sentiments in the old thread and was largely the reason I left that one [Modern secular morality and it's inability to be authoritative]. Like I said, I don't have a problem with them not getting the argument, it's more the blinders that make it incredibly taxing to try and have to remove in every response.

Thank you both for your advice. Like I mentioned before, it's incredibly helpful and I personally appreciate it a tonne.

I read it too and had the same response haha. It's a heady topic and not something I can just participate in without giving it a lot of thought. I'm too lazy for serious debates :)

I did however respond to one of his points. Maybe others will have more to contribute.
