Are you growing chives? I started a batch of blossom vinegar. It’s a nice way to enjoy the flavor throughout the year and yields a lovely hue.

No, although, I should since they are perennial. You will have to tell us how the blossom vinegar turns out.

I did finally finish planting: squash (summer straight neck, zucchini, butternut, and patty-pan), green beans (bush), tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes (volunteers), watermelon, and cantaloupe. I hated missing the spring garden because I love lettuce, onions, spinach, and collards. I will try to plant some collards in August for fall. If I can get my weeding done in the morning, I'll snap a picture and post it.

Is someone that is plastic, round, and inflatable that goes to a dance at the beach a beach ball going to a beach ball?

I'm gonna try making some types of remixes I've never done before. I don't know if they'll turn out very good, but I can always try.

Absolutely! And dry some too. This is their only season as you know. I expect the vinegar will turn out well. I bottled the apple cider (3.5 quarts) and pear (1.5 quarts) the other day. Remember to save your strawberry tops (vinegar) and pineapple rind (vinegar and tepache). They can be reused. :)

You’ve been busy! Yes, I know you love your greens. Given the weather you may have time. Everything is behind. Get them in and see what happens.

I’ve been working throughout the day. I have a summer immunity broth in the Instant Pot, I bottled the meyer lemon and blood orange liqueurs, and I have 2 gallons of kombucha to process for the second fermentation. The pear brandy and Cointreau copycat will be ready in a few days.

I have canning to do as well. I need to make marmalade (3 varieties), pressure can a few meals, and something with the rhubarb. I’d like to dry a batch for tea and have a powder too in addition to the usual options.

Wow, you're on it. I'm not surprised, just feeling less productive all the sudden lol. ^_^

What does summer immunity broth entail?

I just put a bowl of water out for a lizard that won't go out the door. It's an older one, fat with half a tail. At this point, you would think it would recognize an open door. I don't know what to feed it. Eat flies, bud.

This Memorial Day weekend is going by really fast. Drank a lot throughout it... my mind feels tired and fuzzy right now. Pretty much just drank... played video games... got tired... took a nap and rinsed and repeated...

Ever since I lost my faith it's been hard to feel things and being drunk is really the only times, I feel emotional. That's not a good thing by any means. Especially when alcoholism has an ugly history with my family. I don't really consider myself an alcoholic, but I probably do need to start cutting back. Especially considering I'm not in my 20s anymore.

Nonsense! You’ve been busy as well. I’m finding my rhythm once more after a prepping sprint. Slowing down feels good.

As for the broth, this one is lighter. I used a chicken carcass with herbs, ginger, chives, etc. I plan to freeze it. You can use it for homemade ramen or a light soup if under the weather. I use a combination of food and natural remedies for most ailments.

Are you using water bath or pressure cooker?

I use several methods: water bath, pressure canner (for meats), dehydrator, freeze dryer, fermentation and freezing.

I like to take an item and preserve it different ways. It reduces your time in the kitchen and expands the pantry. Rhubarb is in season. I mentioned drying some for tea (dehydrator), making a powder (freeze dryer), jam and syrup (water bath), vinegar (fermentation), liqueur, and freezing for later use.

That’s preferable to having a cupboard full of jam. I make my own tea blends now. That’s why I made the lilac sugar and a lavender batch. Preparedness goes beyond beans and rice. It’s the niceties most forget.

I haven’t started the cheese yet. It needs time to age. Next month is my cut off. I found a nice press and have a dedicated cave (2x). We’re doing country wines too.
