I just heard that Ray Liotta died, apparently peacefully in his sleep, thank God. That is a pity, though, as he'd always seemed like a good man off-screen, and from what little media gossip over celebrities I had heard on the subject over the years he appeared to be a man of faith as well. May he rest in peace.

It isn't fun, I tell ya ... and I didn't even make it past the first cut, much less actually see the courtroom. But, I do agree that it is our civic duty as Americans and we should obey when summoned.

I've been called for county and federal jury duty. The county stint lasted a week and I was called to the pool but not chosen they had enough before even questioning me. Federal Jury duty was different you have to serve in the jury pool for 6 months unless you get chosen and spend 10 days on duty then you get moved to the bottom of the list. I was called to the courthouse twice and the second time I was chosen as the second alternate they picked 14 jurors for the trial and the 2 extras can be called in to replace other jurors until deliberation takes place so I essentially was there till almost the end by default and as it figures two jurors were excused during the trial so I was made a full juror and spent 11 days on the trial. It was an interesting but grueling adventure that I'm glad I got to participate but would not want to ever do it again. It is a great responsibility to decide if someone is going to jail and we never found out the sentence after we found them guilty.

Would you prefer the opposite? Replaying hurts and disappointments throughout your life. Never moving beyond them. Sabotaging opportunities and connections because of previous experiences. Expecting the worse and suspecting everyone.

You’ll never be free until you release them. They hold a part of you that you can’t recover. It’s interwoven in the past…the wrong…the sadness and anger. And you’re stuck. But they’ve moved on.

Love covers a multitude of sins. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s a shield against bitterness and self-destruction. You don’t have to be their friend or say the words to them at all.

But you have to let it go and leave the matter in God’s hands. Yesterday has come and gone. It can only impact you to the degree you permit.

Yes, that is to be expected. Sometimes they even have different culture as they live in a different country but friends in Jesus will all be together in the next life.
